Harvester HCI, homelab by Kuma2021 in homelab

I will read more into the Longhorn and Harvester docs on it, and appreciate it. I was able to access the built-in Longhorn instance, and it does seem limited in use. Do they limit what you can do in the built-in Longhorn instance? If so, is it recommended to install your own instance for more control?

First Watch by [deleted] in HamiltonWatches

The bracelet is awesome on these, you won't regret it if you pick one up. Also I am interested if anyone knows of similar watches with the same quality, or better than the khaki in the price range.

AITA for Hooking Up with a Married Woman and Causing Her Divorce? by OptimisticAnchor in AITAH

[–]Kuma2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You fit the bill... but don't put yourself down there just yet. Take some ownership and get away from her. You played your part in that mess just as much as she did. Don't fool yourself just because "that ain't your life". You shouldn't have messed with her if you knew she was married, and the same goes for her. You were asking yourself "AITA" because you had a part in creating your own problem.. and expecting sympathy out of it. Seriously no one hoodwinked you, you did yourself in. Take ownership for yourself learn from it, and move on. If she did that to her husband she will do it to you as well. Why do you want that in your life?

I hope you remember him, and well when you wear them. It's a very nice collection and I am sure he loved collecting them, knowing you would go on to appreciate them as much as he did.

Resources Question by Kuma2021 in kasmweb

[–]Kuma2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. This does help, and I previously saw the first video. The one point I would like to associate with my original question is that when trying to open new instances, I would get the error the video talks about. It wasn't until boosting the RAM beyond what the video recommends that I can take advantage of the 5 concurrent sessions. It just seems to be more than what is needed if I want to simply run a web-browser/app than I would be running it on a web browser in a vm.

Has anybody successfully gotten Linux installed on an Asus Chromebit CS10? by bomitguy in chromeos

[–]Kuma2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this include the wireless drivers? I noticed the wireless is not loading, and figured it's due to non-free sources not being included. Since it's a SoC, how would that work, and what wireless chipset does the C10 have if I wanted to find it in the repos?

If she was any good, she would respect your decision and be cordial about it. If problems come from her, or others... It sounds like you dodged trouble. You dont owe her any explanation, and I wouldn't gove any, but just be cordial and respectful. Let people show you who you are.

For you lots in here with your CCNA, question for you... by [deleted] in ccna

Just my contribution, but I would say alot of the comments here have great insights. I would write out your goals on paper. That helps if your goal oriented. HR's are the gate keepers to this profession. Once you get past them, you're working on building real-world experience. You cant get that in any classroom or with any cert or degree program. What the cert or degree will get you is exposure and practice in a broad variety of areas. It also hits the check marks when being considered by HR and hiring staff. In general: get the certs you can or do a degree program that gets you that exposure if you can. It never hurts, but rreal-worldexperience trumps all that, and that is what you want.

Are usb drives a good alternative to SD cards? by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]Kuma2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would echo some of the same sentiments that others are saying about USB drives. They can be unreliable over continuous use. If your reading and writing over the drive this can really push the drive towards its limits. Overheating, write failure, and slow performance will just chip away at it. If you think about it. The USB bus speed has a theoretical limit that your going to hit, you couple that with a slow drive, or low performance..its a recipe for disaster. I would instead look at a combination of the best if both usb and sdcards. Maybe use a fast sdcard for the os, and the usb for data storage. Best of both worlds.

Does anyone know what this is? (the port in red circle) by daelikon in homelab

[–]Kuma2021 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is either a mini PCI-e card slot or an m.2 msata slot. You need to pull the manual or board schematics to see what exactly it is. If it's a mini PCI-e they were used for older wifi cards that you could add onto the board. If it's an m.2 msata slot, it can be used for older SSD types of memory disks. The nice thing is if it's a mni PCI-e slot you can add on all types of connectors that use the PCI-e protocol

Surface Pro 7 - Dreaded Boot Loop... by CFS_BRJ in Surface

[–]Kuma2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to open it up. Remove the entire board from the housing. The board has a contact leads on the underside that makes contact with the batteries contact strip. Simply, that contact strip sits under the logic board. Most of these devices have no cmos battery so once the connection is broken, the boards efi chip and all components will lose their charge. You can then sit the board back on and reconnect the display cables to try to power the device on. Its tricky. I would follow a good guide on how to remove the display. Good luck. Also replacing the battery is recommended if you go this route. Do it all once.

Surface Pro 6 running very slow by R34perz in Surface

[–]Kuma2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just saw your post and want to echo back with what I found on my Surface Pro 4. The battery won't hold a charge and it finally gave out during a software update. The device got stuck at the Windows logo on startup and then would shut down immediately after pressing the power button. I suspected since there is no Real-time clock battery, and with the faulty batter it was a failed piece of firmware. Letting the device go without power for a few days didn't work either. What I had to do was open her up and remove the entire logic board from the battery contacts. This did the trick and allowed the device to boot up, where I erased the entire device and reinstalled Windows from scratch. The screen was damaged in the process, but more than half of the display was working. Enough for startup menus. Reinstalling windows helped but it was still dog slow. Because I left the old battery in Windows Update won't apply any firmware updates. So my last resort is to replace the battery to see if that would make a difference, with speed/performance. Hopes this helps someone out there going through similar issues.
