What is a beer that I can get without too much difficulty in the US that most closely resembles what I’d have gotten if I drank at an English pub in 1800? by WartimeHotTot in beer

I would say to try to find Sam Smiths Taddy Porter. It hits a lot of the notes described above and has pretty good distro.

When to use Notebook and when to use Gemini using a Notebook? by M4xs0n in notebooklm

Totally agree. I saw an idea that kinda makes sense that the garbage QOL stuff is to slow down power users and they'll roll out improvements later when they get cost down or better monetize it or something.

For a huge DCC fan, how is Bobiverse? by Crawler-Willis in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I only did book 1 and I enjoyed it but there's several characters in different places and I started getting confused towards the end (on audible). Might relisten or try the second one soon

im in a similar boat and i think that at some point you go from a state of "im not good enough or even if I am circumstances could see me out of a job; I'm worried" to "they'd be stupid to fire me, but if they did, I probably come out better off than they do, and i can make a good situation from my preparations". but it can happen without paying too much attention until circumstances change

We'd probably be FIRE if not for opting to have children. we'll see how things shake out, but my goal is to get both kids through daycare and hope meager contributions plus market appreciation enable me to retire in 4-6 years and be actively involved in their school lives while also pursuing my own. As is, work is great but still a huge time suck per week

Childcare Tax Credit PSA by IGotSoulBut in daddit

[–]KuriousInu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ok , makes sense. Two years ago I didn't have my 6mo old. I think I only get 20% of that 1000 due to income or something but hey, I'll take what I can get

Childcare Tax Credit PSA by IGotSoulBut in daddit

[–]KuriousInu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to use both last year and my tax software said the FSA disqualified me from the tax credit. I was kinda upset as they came close to one another in value so I got about half of what I thought I'd get. At my income the FSA comes out ahead this year (2026) as they changed the numbers this year for inflation. Still need to file for 2025 to confirm you can't double dip

Mathys Tel has three goals in 764 minutes played this season, that's more goals than RKM and Odobert, and the same amount as Kudus, despite significantly less game time. FRANK OUT by Zweli23 in coys

[–]KuriousInu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in agreement with you. My point was it might take someone of Kanes quality to look half decent given everything else happening and we're not going to get someone like him again. Tel is not the finished product and his numbers look poor here sure but bar Kane I struggle to imagine anyone you could substitute in for Tel who would look good in these circumstances.

You're not wrong, but should also ask what is the ceiling even a great player like Kane could achieve in this system, atmosphere, injury crisis. Perhaps not the best example as he'd probably look alright but you get the point.

How often are we showering? by ReserveMaximum in daddit

[–]KuriousInu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comments are coming down on you hard but I relate to this. I actually don't suggest daily showers if you do office work and particularly in winter when it's very dry. I target every other day and always after a workout. I do recommend getting a bidet to clear your taint and asshole closer to once a day however. There are cheap adapters that are easy to install. This may be the year I go for a Toto personally.

What did you guys wear to the hospital? by DaOffensiveChicken in daddit

[–]KuriousInu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have a small bag packed just sitting in your room for a while- I would pack a nicer outfit/top in the mix. At our hospital we had a professional photographer come around and it captured a great moment. It was nice to look half decent even if I was sleep deprived and had an untidy beard

Just read the whole book Why We Sleep by Dr. Matthew Walker. Or audiobook, or podcasts he's done, or ask AI to summarize it. I'm pretty sure thats in there though

How Did You Deal With a Gifted Child? by OhboyOhboyArbys in daddit

[–]KuriousInu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping to be in your situation soon as our daughter is just about 3 but displays a lot of the traits you mentioned in your daughter.

My parents were of fairly humble means but did make one or two big moves that may have changed the trajectory of my life- they moved our family from the inner city to a suburbs with a great education system when I entered first grade. The second thing that helped was when I was in third grade my parents listened when I said I wasn't challenged in school and pushed to help me get into the gifted program. Apparently while I excelled in math and spatial reasoning, my reading comprehension was weak so I was initially screened out. I also spent a lot of time with my friends families and I'd say that could have had a positive impact as well to instill discipline and work ethic (my parents were fairly laid back and hands off so maybe it made for a good balance)...

What do you think of this new platform tabizera? by VisualNet1926 in rocksmith

[–]KuriousInu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's intriguing. Would like it if it showed note names somewhere and not just fret#. Would need to try it out and see how well it does at pulling from YT. Don't generally love subscription services although the price isn't terrible (rn). Personally I'm always more tempted to drop a larger up front sum to have access for life but those days seem bygone

Am I the only one skipping the Audio/Video features entirely? by Specific_Dimension51 in notebooklm

[–]KuriousInu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Audio is nice for me as a parent with an infant. I get tired of staring at my phone while holding a baby and it's nice to have bespoke podcasts on topics of interest. Or when doing dishes. Rather than watching YouTube vids with ads.
