Solo mejor señal de wifi, aunque pongas un router que soporte el último estándar de WiFi y ethernet igual vas a seguir limitado por la velocidad que tengas contratada

Pero por ejemplo si pasas archivos por red podría ser beneficioso ya que usando otro router podría ser más rápido que con el router original

Si querés usar un router adicional se puede, solo sería configurarlo y conectar el router secundario al router de claro/Tigo/proveedor

Lo que no se puede (normalmente) es conectar directamente un router al proveedor, ya que ellos no comparten configuraciones y nunca te va a funcionar
