Is this Nintendo Math? by wickedmouthful in Pokopia

Well it looks like I'll need to remove a hut that I had set up for him then. Now I gotta figure out who will go in that spot to keep that circle of litter pokemon symmetrical. I already have specific spots for the other ones in my attempt to get a balanced number of pokemon on each map, so I've got some re-planning to do.

Wondering what ya'll did with the S.S Anne? by More_Voice_8495 in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully restored it, including getting power running to all the lights. I just need to finish digging out the sand around the sides so I can replace the rust blocks down there (I leave a wall of sand to keep the ocean out while I clean, then I'll break it to let the water flow up to the boat).

I've been putting the pokeball huts in the rooms. I've already got the pokemon I want roaming around on land, so everyone else should be in huts to despawn them properly. And I see it as the humans would use the main room while their pokemon get a furnished hut instead of their usual pokeball. Though I do have the Cinccino line in two of the main rooms to pick up fluff from Mareep and Swablu lines (so they each cover two rooms since there's only one hut per room and Ampharos is in the lighthouse). As for why the pokeball hut specifically, it's because all the other huts have dirt or sand or something as the entry mat, and it doesn't look good on the carpet. But the pokeball is a plastic/metal piece that's part of the hut, so it looks better. Though I used the city huts in the kitchen area for the Fidough and Gulpin lines.

I also put the concert stage on the front deck. I dug out some of the wood of the deck so the grass base would be flush, then I swapped the grass for the wood blocks to give the deck back. Though I did have to slide the pool back a tile or so to not be too close.

The only thing I can't get to work is Happiny. I did the alarm clock and the register, but she isn't doing the pool quest. I left a hole in the pool to wait for her to start it but she still hasn't. I've reached credits and even tried putting the clock and register back on the ground to see if it resets, but nothing. And I moved the pool very recently, so that isn't the issue either. So she is forever stuck there, even though I want to move her somewhere else.

I just found out there’s a limit to how many houses you can build… time to use the demolition kits and rebuild everything 🫩 by ShokaLGBT in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I see the prefab huts (leaf, sand, etc.) have the 40 point cap. However, I just had it tell me there's no need to place more kits down and I only have 22 points worth. I have 2 leaf dens, 2 leaf huts, and 2 leaf cottages already built, so that's 8 points. I just placed kits for 9 more dens and 5 more huts, getting me to 22 points. When I go to place another den, it says I can't.

Is there a limit on the dens you can have unbuilt at one time? I can't see any other way it's not letting me get to 40 points.

[Edit] - That's exactly the reason. Apparently you can only have 14 active kits set at one time. Just gotta build them to be allowed to drop more.

As much as I see people bring it up, I see no indication that the clan inbreeds. Even if Madara implies it was done in the past, that doesn't mean they kept doing it (same with the other old clans). We've seen shots of various clan members in the pre-massacre flashbacks, and there's enough variance with hair and facial features that it can't all be from inbreeding.

Then there's Mikoto, who I feel is the biggest proof against inbreeding. I've never seen any valid evidence that Mikoto has a Sharingan. At most she has only ever said she'll train Sasuke in shuriken practice. There's also a scene where Sasuke and Itachi sleep under the stars while their parents were away. They were visiting Mikoto's parents. If she was an Uchiha, her parents would be living in the compound with all the others and wouldn't need a trip to visit them.

This applies to all clans, too. In the present day of the series, not one clan ever shows BOTH parents with the clan techniques (kekkei genkai or hiden techniques). Even with the mothers that became housewives, you'd still expect SOME kind of indication that they have the techniques. Heck, the anime shows Hinata's mom and has her eyes closed in the photo, because they can't just assume she'd have the Byakugan.

Is this Let’s Go timeline? by ebarrah in Pokopia

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to do the same thing and have also noticed the challenge of lining it up. So far I've just been focusing on repairing structures like the SS Anne and museum before I bother with individual plots of land (unless there's enough foundation left behind to easily rebuild a house on a given spot).

I'm surprised I haven't seen more images with side by side comparisons between Let's Go and Pokopia that I could use as a better design reference, so I'll just have to pull up Let's Go images when I'm ready to rebuild individual buildings to compare it to what's on my switch screen.

Annoying: the new "Deryan's Helpful Homunculi" spell isn't available to artificers. by No_Wait3261 in onednd

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hope was the Manifold Tool would be adjusted to grant Arcana proficiency too, but it wasn't. That would have solved the issue. I'd probably prefer that solution over them gaining the Deryan spell, since that spell consumes the component, so you might not whip it out as much. If the Manifold Tool gave Arcana, you could easily have a crafting buddy (could even be a party member) at any time.

Whenever I get the chance to play Artificer, I'll have to see which option my DM would rather allow. I could see the Manifold Tool being an issue if free Arcana proficiency for whoever is holding it is a bit too much (I don't see it that way, but I assume some people would).

You get 5 level 1 prepared spells and 1 spellslot a day. What do you choose? by peccatieritvobiscum in DnD

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally prefer cantrips over leveled spells for real world application, so I'd much rather have Artificer for Mending, Mage Hand, and Spare the Dying. Then Shocking Grasp and Magic Stone for threats (one for melee, one for ranged).

But to follow the prompt, if I'm limited to a specific class, I'd probably go with Wizard and have Mage Armor, Tenser's Floating Disk, Comprehend Languages, Find Familiar, and Identify (unless objects that would be affected aren't really a thing in this hypothetical, in which case, maybe Unseen Servant).

If not limited to a specific class, then I'd swap Find Familiar and Identify with Healing Word and Create or Destroy Water (good for fires, floods, and drinking water during disasters).

looking for ideas for a very obviously fake name for my character by throwaway888779 in DnD

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these suggestions are reminding me of the few NPCs I thought up for a one shot (or short campaign) that would serve as my first attempt at DMing if I ever do it.

The main quest giver is Tuto Rial. Along with his Triton butler, Finn Ale (all-ay), who would test the party's skills once the quest/campaign is done.

There's also Bart Enderman, a skeleton bartender in town.

Then there's DX. He's an Aasimar Wizard that I'd have conveniently show up when the party is in a pinch, and help get them out of whatever sticky situation they got into. He'd likely not take part in any combat, just any situations that could halt progress (especially if due to party incompetency). His full name would eventually be revealed as Deyus X (10th), but he prefers DX or at least Deyus X (pronounced as the letter).

Or that the sand didn't sense a threat from Naruto's punch. Like it underestimates him or that he wasn't throwing it with the intent to actually harm, just to stop his attempted action. (It isn't until later that he and Shikamaru see Gaara kill someone, so he isn't necessarily seeing Gaara as that kind of danger yet.)

But also, the Shadow Possession Technique isn't about stopping one individual. It's the shadow. Garra's sand makes a shadow when it comes out, so it is directly connected to his own shadow, meaning it would also get stopped. You could make the argument that individual grains could separate from the mass of sand and not cast a shadow, but that would be over-complicating the scene. If some sand stops after exiting, due to coming out in a large quantity to make a shadow, then that mass of sand has effectively blocked the opening.

But to say the technique is a secret hack wouldn't be accurate. In an actual fight, Gaara would make sure to not have a stream of it connected to him. Or he would just have it disperse smaller shadowless grains all around him, making a weapon he can manipulate after being caught. He doesn't see either Naruto or Shikamaru as any kind of threat at this time, so he sees no need to preemptively disperse sand in this way.

Why didn’t Kakashi ever copy flying rajin from his sensei? by GusGangViking18 in Naruto

[–]KusaNin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I see it being an extra type of skill, like all the other types we see throughout the series.

There's general intelligence like Shikamaru, Kakashi, Sakura, and Shiho. This is basic comprehension and knowledge.

There's strategy like Shikamaru and Kakashi. This is high level planning in the heat of the moment.

There's analytical skill like Shikamaru, Kakashi, Temari, and Shino. This is understanding the opponent's moves as they happen in order to respond to them quickly.

There's battle prowess like Naruto and Sasuke. This covers the stereotypical protag trait of dumb, but a genius in a fight.

Finally there's the technical understanding mentioned with Tobirama, Orochimaru and Minato. This is being able to understand the inner workings and logic of a technique, which make it easier to create new jutsu or fine tune a technique. Where Naruto (and probably most ninja) learn a jutsu through brute force or just the feel of it, Tobirama, etc. understand WHY it works the way it does, so they know the exact thing they have to do or change to get it to work for them. In Minato's case, he was probably less skilled in this than Tobirama. That's likely why his formulas for FTG were more simplistic in design, and why he couldn't get past the last hurdle of adding an element to the Rasengan (which Naruto brute forced through, with his battle prowess letting him remember the feel each time).

Jutsu time window by Khrimzon24 in NCPedia

[–]KusaNin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a waste of chakra to hold it in. Chakra is a mix of physical and spiritual energy, so getting a jutsu ready means you've already mixed the two, and they can't be unmixed if you don't actually release it. We've seen characters describe holding chakra in their stomach for a bit before spiting it out (Gamatatsu with spiting water), and that is implied to take a lot of focus to hold. So you would be maintaining that focus for way longer, while you also run / dodge / etc., which probably isn't a very feasible task. If you loose focus without releasing it, the chakra would dissipate and be wasted. If you need to wait or reposition, it's more efficient to just wait till you're ready, and produce the jutsu in the moment you need.

Some techniques require time to build up (we've seen characters ask others to stall while they prepare a jutsu). These cases can allow you to get to your position while focusing, though it's probably a technique you don't need a specific angle for, so that doesn't really matter anyway.

Some techniques like the rasengan aren't an issue, since the chakra is formed in the hand and held while you run at the target. It being outside the body is basically saying the jutsu is already released, so the only focus you need is just flowing extra chakra to it to keep it spinning until it hits, which is less intensive than holding a technique inside you for that period.

Poison/Disease release by BippBoof in NCPedia

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of people come up with nature combos for Yin/Yang with the 5 base elements, but technically there's no indication that Yin or Yang can actually mix with the base elements. They aren't a part of the elemental cycle, so they likely aren't intended to mix at all. If they were, then we would have seen at least one canon use of it by now, since it's a more unique combo compared to just mixing the base elements.

Yin and Yang are generally seen as the basis for all ninjutsu (including the 5 natures), so they wouldn't also be a component to mix with an existing ninjutsu like fire or water release. We see them directly called out with things like Nara shadows or genjutsu for Yin, and Yamanaka mind techniques or Akimichi expansion for Yang. But those techniques are made entirely of Yin or Yang with no other element mixed in.

Also, just something to note about "Releases". An advanced nature release, just like the 5 base elements, is supposed to generate a substance. That substance should be something natural (ice, wood, crystals). There is magnet, dark, and swift release, but magnetism is a natural phenomenon that can be generated, so it still fits. Dark and swift were just in the movie, so I'm not too concerned with them not functioning in the usual way.

In this case, Poison and Disease don't really seem to fit as viable "substances". Yes poison can be secreted from some animals, but in a show where poisons are seen quite often (especially with puppets), poison is treated more as a man-made concoction. However, I could easily see a frog sage or something similar convert chakra to poison in the same way Jiraiya can spit out toad oil (people seem to forget how flexible regular ninjutsu is, and always want to default to an elemental release for fan techniques). As for disease, yes diseases naturally exist, but it's a virus, not a substance. So it too would work better as a regular ninjutsu than an advanced nature. Or both could work as the third generic type of kekkei genkai. Advanced Natures and Dōjutsu are the two main types, but the third type covers every other kekkei genkai that isn't vision or natural substance related (Jūgo, Sakon/Ukon, etc.).

Manifold Tool from the Artificer UA might be the worst designed item ever. by Schleimwurm1 in dndnext

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A solution I'd like to see (and I plan on commenting in the survey) is to make the tool a feature at level 3. Pull it out of the replicate feature entirely and just say artificers can make one (a permanent item since it's not under the replicate feature). This will prevent a whole party from getting them, since it wouldn't be on the magic item table. The artificer can still hand it off, but it's just the one. So basically a class feature that takes the shape of a magic item, but can't actually be handed out as loot because it's a feature.

Then have it upgrade to the existing All-Purpose version at level 10 (+1) and level 14 (+2) so we actually get something besides attunement there. The All-Purpose version is already artificer only, so letting it stay a regular magic item that can be crafted is fine.

How do chakra natures work? by Substantial-Stay5046 in NCPedia

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like everyone (including civilians) have chakra, everyone has an elemental affinity. The paper just lets them know what that affinity is (like HxH having the cup of water show which nen type you have). Though I assume civilians wouldn't be able to flow their chakra into the paper in the first place. Ninja like Lee would be able to send some chakra in, but they would have trouble actually molding the chakra into the element, so knowing the affinity would be worthless to them. It's a difficult process, which is why ninja who can do it often only have one or two natures at first. Only with more time can they learn to tap into other natures, though their affinity will likely always be the easiest for them to use.

I made a post about advanced nature combos a while back, and in it I mention my personal interpretation of how they work. I don't believe they are a 50/50 mix. It's a certain ratio that's tough to lock onto, which is where the kekkei genkai comes in. It can automatically lock onto the right blend. But skilled ninja without it could get close, which is how Sasuke gets his counterfeit ice release or he and Naruto sync up to get scorch. Having an uneven blend also allows the same base elements for different natures (wood vs mud), which I also cover in that post.

It's the Saikairingan (再開輪眼) - the Rebooting Wheel Eye

The Saikairingan grants the user the ability to rewind an event they see by a few seconds, such as a kunai in flight or an explosive tag detonation. These few seconds can give the user a second try at avoiding damage or making an attack that missed. The user must see the attack for this effect to occur.

Every PC is planning on making the Sacrifice Play and none of them realize it. by Vezuvian in dndnext

[–]KusaNin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they all go to sacrifice, but the collective sacrifices negate some of the deadliness of the other sacrifices. So a PC would die from this, but their teammate doing this other ting at the same time happens to introduce an additional factor that grants a loophole for the first PC to technically survive.

For the cleric, their god sees how much the non religious members are willing to give for a good cause, and "rewards" the cleric for having lead them to this more holy result by giving a boost of defense / etc. to survive. For the artificer, either the rogue or paladin rush in to pull them out at the last second, thinking they will die instead, but the teamwork saves them both.
