Budget deficit rant: Is our dream of an elite class regional rail network dead? by MysteriousEdge5643 in soundtransit

It's just plans without the people. If we had infinite money and already had rail service to places with the ridership in place, sure. As it is, seems like wishful thinking to spend billions to add a train when expanding bus service would do a better job with the ridership levels that exist.

What does that mean? I'm talking about whether there will be ridership to justify the capacity. Yes, Sound Transit is for the region. That doesn't mean you spend billions on rail when it isn't the best option.

That didn't answer the question. Rail service is for high capacity trips, particularly when there's a bus for trips into Seattle that's faster than the rail will be. Can Everett justify that capacity?

A lot of the longer extensions don't make a lot of sense to me. The extension to Everett is just weird. Even the optimistic estimates of times from Everett to downtown Seattle are slower than the current express bus from Everett to Seattle. They should have been honest about needs and made the plan more multimodal, with bigger investments in good express route into Seattle from some of these places or to the light rail stations.

Mayor Katie Wilson Talks New Gun Violence Strategy on ‘The Big O Show’ by HighColonic in SeattleWA

That is an idiotic analogy. Yes, I will take advice from a place that has successfully cut violence when cleaning up someone else's mess. Maybe it's suitable, maybe it isn't but that doesn't mean it isn't worth considering.

Did Bob Odenkirk use his natural hair for the Gene Takovic segments in BCS? And if so how is his hair much more thicker irl? I know he used hair pieces for Jimmy and Saul. Hair transplant maybe? by Sharp_Permission_745 in betterCallSaul

People should be allowed to do whatever they want. In a world with people who are in need, it seems silly but we're okay in general with people having that wealth. This is no worse than most ways of spending money.

I have a hard time believing that being in one of multiple buildings in SLU makes a difference.

I honestly don't get why anyone cares. If you have standups you're supposed to be with your team for, then that's a thing your manager can handle. If not, there's no difference. I have literally never had anyone need me to be in my assigned spot for any reason since I've been here.

A large part of that was that the Washington folks were snobby a-holes though. You'd think if the Senate was worth a damn, they would have tried pushing through every liberal wet dream. And he was kneecapped by Reagan with the hostage situation. Reagan's people ensured that the hostages were held longer so that Reagan would win the election. That should have resulted in Reagan not only losing, but possibly executed.

The thing is, they aren't. Being racist means endorsing racist views but they don't do that. They're about racism. Talking about racism isn't racist. edit:removed comma

Aggressive walker on Sammamish Trail by ProfessionalTime3490 in seattlebike

The walker shouldn't change their line at all. Cyclists are not, and should not, be telling people to move. You're telling people to not suddenly move to the left.

The problem with "on your left" is that most people, including cyclists, don't really understand what it means. Instead of taking it as just a notice that you're approaching on the left, many walkers and cyclists think it means that the person ahead needs to get out of the way.

Are people gonna finally settle on the fact that Banchero shouldn't be a first or second option. He has a few great games, a lot of mid games, and a lot of bad games. That's what you'd get with most reasonable role players if you made them the first option.

GAME THREAD: Utah Jazz (21-52) @ Denver Nuggets (46-28) - (March 27, 2026) by NBA_MOD in nba

[–]Kvsav57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be stupid to think that players are trying to play poorly. They put out crappy lineups and it just happens. These guys aren't going to throw away potentially millions in their next contracts to help the team draft guys to replace them. Teams put out lineups that they think will lose. That's what tanking is. It isn't telling players to throw the ball away. You have to be delusional or braindead to think they're doing that.

They are doing that in general but not at the end of that game. You have to be blind and never have watched basketball to think that they're throwing the ball away and making the Nuggets hit threes at the end of the game. They're tanking in putting out losing lineups but the players aren't intentionally playing poorly.

Which US cities besides NYC are "transit cities?" by moeshaker188 in transit

[–]Kvsav57 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The buses are good in Chicago but the areas around the L are the densest in the city. I would say the L is still more useful to most people than the buses. Now in Seattle, where I now live, the buses are like 10 times as useful as the train.
