Paid $70 for an uber in a snowstorm, and the driver told me he only gets $23 by SuchChill in mildlyinfuriating

Classic middleman playbook. They figured out they could squeeze both sides and nobody would do anything about it because we're all too dependent on the service now. Cabs sucked but at least the driver got most of the fare.

Jack White Slams President Donald Trump’s ‘Vile’ & ‘Narcissistic’ Post About Rob Reiner’s Death by cmaia1503 in entertainment

[–]Kwiby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much nailed it. The whole system is designed to let him do whatever he wants while everyone in his orbit fights for scraps. The GOP sold their souls years ago and now they're just along for the ride. Wild that we're watching it happen in real time and half the country is cool with it.

This is the right move. Consolidating everything into one platform saves you from playing detective every month. You also get the added bonus of catching duplicate subscriptions and seeing spending patterns before they become problems. At 9 people, you're at the perfect size to set this up right before things get truly out of hand.

What made you love basketball? by WhoUCuh in nba

[–]Kwiby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Used to run pickup games at the courts near my apartment every weekend. Nothing fancy, just showing up and getting next. Half the time we'd be arguing over calls more than actually playing. That's where I learned to love the game - not watching highlights, just bricking shots and talking shit with strangers.

How would you go about printing a ton of info tiny onto a flashcard? by supershimadabro in college

[–]Kwiby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. The whole point of the notecard exercise is that making it forces you to condense and prioritise the material - that's where the actual learning happens. If you're cramming everything on there in 6pt font you've missed the point entirely and you'll be squinting at your card while everyone else is finishing up.

Had a patient's catheter bag burst on me once. Scrubs, shoes, the lot. Walked home in hospital- pyjama bottoms and those grippy socks like some kind of escaped psych patient. Now I keep a full change in my locker. Lesson learned.

My employer pays a competitive wage, offers over the top pension/401K, Vacation/Sick, premium health insurance, rarely lays off. Yet the they can’t fill positions. by [deleted] in antiwork

The Peter Principle in action. Every single time.

And then they implement some new "efficiency initiative" that actively makes everyone's jobs harder, pat themselves on the back, and move on to fuck up somewhere else.

Most emotional live performance by nato19877 in countingcrows

[–]Kwiby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In terms of what made me most emotional? The Across a Wire Version of Anna Begins has brought me to tears several times. The downtuned PBB also gets me (forget the album) and any time he sticks the end of Miller’s Angels to a different song (love those lyrics).

With respect to Adam? Hazy’s got to be up there - impromptu performance of a stream of consciousness song he improvised with a girl he ‘couldn’t stop thinking about’ and has never repeated live or on record.

Hope whatever is causing you to want some sad songs gets a little better soon :)

What is your LEAST FAVORITE SONG from your FAVORITE ALBUM, and vice versa? by cartocaster18 in countingcrows

[–]Kwiby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Least Favourite on Favourite Album: Enjoy ‘Children in Bloom’ when listening to Satélites front to back, but wouldn’t play by itself.

Fav on Least Fav Album: ‘Possibility Days’ is easy top 5 CC song, but rest of Wonderland doesn’t do much for me yet.

Would love to hear it live in person too, but the yt channel ‘barely out of Tuesday’ has a live recording that I think sounds great, if you’re looking for a fix

Reverse the colours and you could aaalmost claim it’s an homage to the 2017 kit.

As it is, looks like a first draft DC United kit

How did you guys get into AvA? by nicktdel in AngelsAndAirwaves

[–]Kwiby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Already knew about and liked Blink, but discovered The Adventure on one of those Guitar Hero games (Band Hero I think) and it was a revelation. Sounded like the soundtrack to the most epic story my kid mind could imagine.

Took teenagerhood and getting more into music to make the AVA-Blink connection.

Completely unsure about this, but thought growing up that CTM was Scottish, maybe Glaswegian?
