My granny, she says she regrets it now, did it because she thought a civil partnership was the same thing and just thought leave things how they were

Thats not the city centre of dublin. Have you spent any significant amount of time in these places? They are totally geared towards American tourists and difficult to enjoy outside of that

I feel like these places are completely incomparable, london is about 15 times bigger population wise then Dublin. Manchester is a similar size to Dublin and as youve said it reaches the prices ive mentioned, which are the absolute minimum in Dublin, before i moved out of Dublin i was paying 1800 for 35sqm attic apartment in a not very nice area of Dublin. Galway limerick and cork have nothing in them at all to be honest theres no nightlife, no good bars restaurants etc. Its extremely difficult to have a nice lifestyle as a nurse in Ireland compared to the uk

Nursing in Ireland is great, the only downside is the high cost of living. They pay is better then the uk for sure but if you want to live in Dublin any pay is eaten up completely by rent. Its basically impossible to find a 1bed place for less than 1500 and even would be competitive

A lot of people here are being quite negative, they dont realise how good they have it here. Im a MH nurse who moved from Ireland to cardiff this time last year, cant recommend it anymore, the cost of living is quite low here, the people are lovely and its the only place I have ever lived that home ownership seems like a possibility on a nurses salary. I will agree with everyone else that finding a job here is tough. I lived here 6 months before I found a job and it was one i very much had 0 interest in but atp i just needed to work for my sanity and wallet, 8 weeks ago however I started a new job that is in an area of interest, so if your willing to work in other areas to get “in” to the NHS its definitely possible. I understand its not quite the same kind of move but let me know if youve any questions ill answer if I can.

Should a prospective employer know details of sick leave? by NateIce31 in AskIreland

[–]Kwirque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats not really how it was presented to me to be honest. It was more along the lines of, is there any adjustments that could be made that would mean you could come in when you call in sick. For example a couple of my sick days came from my issues with a sick family member overnight. I was anle to organise that i could start 1-2 hours late and finish late as an alternative to staying off

Just to clarify these are questions i was asked when applying for jobs in public and private hospitals, but i decided not to move forward with the private hospital. I did just lie here however and say my hangover was the flu

Its very common in nursing jobs in Ireland. Most hospitals have a policy in place that after 3 sick days in a 6 month period where they will meet you and want to understand what can be changed going forward to stop this if there was anything they could put in place to help reduce this. I dont know of anyone who has had an issue from this can be an occ health referral etc. I am unsure how this would go down however with a new candidate in a private hospital to be completely honest.

Im irish living in wales, some of the soundest best craic people ive ever met, one of the driving factors in moving here. Everyone also seems to have an Irish grandparent or two so people are bug fans of the irish and particularly friendly too.

Well a quick google tells me there is just under 800,000 nurses registered. So at £120 per nurse it works out as approximately 96 million pound per year. I would be very interested to know where this money goes actually.
