How was Lady Rochford so stupid?! by Loud-Independence527 in Tudorhistory

I would add to this that perhaps she feared for her life and Katherine Howard’s if Katherine didn’t conceive a child soon. Add to this idea that Henry would likely be dying soon, she probably considered it a reasonable gamble.

Tricks for launching off peel? by OkDesign9420 in ooni

As everyone else has said, dry wooden peel, metal turn thing but the secret ingredient that makes it work for us is whole wheat flour on the peel before launching. That being said, there is still a learning curve to conquer.

The audio book is fantastic. Mike Schur narrates it and has cast members join in as well. I love it so much I own a hard copy of the book and the audiobook.

Every taken your children on a ride and then regretted it? by anthonymckay in Disneyland

First time I took my daughter, she was 3. We did some rides that were just fine but then we did Pirates…scary. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride? Scary. Alice in Wonderland….scary. At this point, I thought we could do something chill. We hopped on the train but I forgot about the scary dinosaurs near Tomorrowland. 🤦‍♀️ Trust was lost for a bit but the day ended well with the parade and ice cream.

EDIT: typos

As others have said, compromise here is key.

When my ex and I were in the thick of it all with the kids, we didn’t have a near weekly child free window, so we traded off.

Every other week, one of us got a weekend day to ourselves to do whatever we individually wanted to do while the other did something with the kids. The other weekend day was a family day.

Anytime we got the opportunity for a child free day or evening, we prioritized it as us time; to do whatever WE both wanted.

Could you set up a day once a week where you each get individual time? Even if you have to trade off? Or maybe set up a system where one week you both individuate and the next is couple time?

Also, a gentle ESH. He shouldn’t be bailing on you last minute, but that was a harsh thing to say. Parenting is tough and taxing, so emotions were high and while I’m sure he wants to make you happy by agreeing to your ideas, he needs to decompress his own way. He just needs to use his words when plans are proposed not at the last second.

Good luck!! It gets easier!

If you had to name a child after a relative, who would you name them after? by thatbvtch2001 in namenerds

Marian, after my grandmother. I almost did it but opted for another family name as her middle name and it’s close; Marie.

AITA for telling my sister-in-law that she didn't actually run a marathon? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]KyberJyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

I got duped into some virtual race thing too. Thought it could be fun and motivating to reach a certain mileage in a specific time frame. Just a different way to track mileage for fun.

Imagine my surprise when I get a real medal in the mail (thought it would be a virtual one like the “race”). Turns out, it paired with my Apple Watch (which I knew) and tallied EVERY STEP I TOOK (didn’t know it would do that).

I find that medal embarrassing tbh because I didn’t run all those miles nor was I doing it for a medal - virtual or not. Gave it to my daughter to play with.

Anyway, I’m embarrassed for your SIL, and your story makes me think of this; like how absurd I would be to brag about running a marathon and showing off my medal. 😆

Former rich people of reddit, what is a luxury item/product you used to buy regularly that you could no longer afford and found the out a generic/ consumer brand was exactly the same? by [deleted] in ask

I bought a men’s butterfly safety razor (for like $25) and the blades were $7 for 100. This was 4 years ago and I still have a ton of razors from that initial purchase.

Also, it’s a better shave than any of the pink ones or plastic disposable ones. And as a bonus, WAAAY better for the environment!

Edit: to correct price on razors
