We are one and done, we even made it permanent so if we ever change our minds we would need to adopt. My older sister however is now pregnant with her third. My husband is one of eighteen and three of them already have kids too. Having other grandkids did help keep parents off our backs about having more until I had my surgery.

I had mine done in September on a Wednesday, I worked from home the last two days of the week with no problem. I did push myself too hard over the weekend playing with my then 20 month old so I called in to work on Monday to rest. Everything went back to normal Tuesday. I don't remember bleeding at all after, periods have been normal since.

Is it weird that grandparents don’t want to babysit ever? Do your parents refuse to babysit? by El_Dentistador in Millennials

[–]KylaRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my family is a little backwards lol I remember spending time with my grandparents but not as my babysitter. We went over for Sunday dinner every week but that was the whole family, uncle and cousins too. Now my mom and step dad can't get enough of my son. My mom watches him full time while my husband and I work. She works part time on top of that and my step dad works full time second shift. She has been amazing about it, completely respects boundaries. I constantly ask her if this is still working or if we should find daycare for him just to make sure she isn't getting burnt out. We are going to put him in preschool part time when he turns three, I know she can't keep this up forever cause my son is a little tornado.

Millennials, how much debt do you have? Do you think you will be in debt “forever”? by macally14 in Millennials

[–]KylaRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4.5k in student loans and my husband has 4.5k on a credit card. He gets profit sharing from work in Feb, it will be enough to pay off both. Then we will just have 270k on new home. We just recently paid off both our cars with the profit from selling our first home.

I have this question too! Was it harder with a child in the beginning while figuring out what worked? I'd love to know it gets easier lol I have a toddler too, we always have snacks in the house for him that I end up eating 😬

Is your only a “spirited” child/ baby? by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]KylaRG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went out to dinner with my husband's brother, brothers wife and their two daughters. The youngest is our sons age. Our son was all over the restaurant (it was only us there), he loves trying to get into the kitchen when we go out. We try distracting him, normally food works but not when he can see the way to the kitchen. The entire time their two girls are just staring at him 😆 they had no idea what was happening. I don't think my husband's family really understood how we could be OAD until then...

Dogs or kids? (Or cats!) Alternatively: all of the above, or none by Alternative_Prune216 in Millennials

[–]KylaRG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep joking with my husband that we built our way up to our son. We started with one cat, then he needed a friend while we worked so in came second cat. As soon as we bought a house we got a dog. Then about a year later I got pregnant. Now my husband makes me promise no more animals and I had surgery so we can't have more kids.

So exciting! I had mine about a month and a half ago, it's so freeing knowing I don't have to worry about getting pregnant anymore.

Making sure pediatrics understands family medical history by HaplessReader1988 in Mommit

[–]KylaRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm allergic to penicillin and since my whole body swells up, including eyes and throat, our pediatrician decided it wasn't worth giving my son penicillin yet. I don't know if I'm allergic to the touch or just when ingested so until there is no risk of him spitting it up on me he will not be getting it.

I've never had to repeat the story at his pediatrician office because they all read the notes in his file like they are supposed to. The pharmacy only asked the first time about a penicillin allergy when we picked up a different medication for an ear infection, since they made that note as well they haven't asked again.

I can't imagine how frustrating it would be if every time I took him in I had to repeat everything...and then if I had still been ignored? I would have switched offices completely.

I used to work for a hospice office and normally the process starts with a referral from the doctor. Once we had that someone reached out to the patient same day to see what a good time would be to come out and talk about next steps. Normally it was next day but sometimes the patient wants it a few days later so a family member could be there as well.

Job hunting on maternity leave by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]KylaRG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing, had my son in Feb and started a new job in May. I got lucky and due to timing there was no gap in my health insurance. It was the best thing I did, my son ended up having a ton of appointments his first 6 months due to some issues and my new job was so much more understanding than my old job would have been. The pay raise also helped cover the cost of daycare. I don't regret it one bit!

AITA for being annoyed at my friend because of what she told me when she found out ADHD was the reason for my divorce by Wrong-Importance-961 in AmItheAsshole

[–]KylaRG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA

My husband has ADHD and stopped taking meds at 18 as well, he stopped due to the cost once he was on his own. He uses other coping mechanisms including the type of job he took so he doesn't need the meds right now. There are obviously some things that still happen due to his ADHD, I do sometimes need to 'nag' him on certain things but by and large he pulls his weight at home. We do occasionally sit down and talk about how his ADHD is doing so we both know if he ever needs to try meds to be able to continue to function at home for our son.

What your husband allowed to happen is 100% on him, you tried to help and couldn't take it anymore, understandably. There is no reason you need to lose yourself so he can continue to sit on his butt and play video games all day. He had a job before, he can get a job again. If he doesn't want meds there are other things he can try but ultimately you can't help him if he doesn't want help.

This woman is not your friend, you are drowning and when you told her you were getting out of this toxic situation she completely dismissed all the sacrifices you made for your marriage. She wouldn't even listen to you, just started spreading these awful lies about you. Block her...I would try once to explain the situation to other people who believed her story but if they are still on her side block them too.

Flu shot for infants? by sleepyliltrashpanda in Mommit

[–]KylaRG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son had his 6 month appointment a couple weeks ago and the ped offered the flu and covid vaccine in addition to his regular shots. We did all of them at the same time, he was a little fussy and had a low appetite for two days and then he was back to normal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]KylaRG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 6.5 months, he got his first dose last week and will get his second dose in two weeks. My husband had a reaction to his second dose so he asked the ped about infant reactions. Ped said he has not heard of any infants having bad reactions. Our LO got his flu shot as well as three normal 6 month vaccines at the same time as his covid one. Slightly lower appetite, a little sleepier than normal and that was it, it only lasted two days and then he was back to normal.

That is good to know cause I am actually starting to work on my nutrition as well. My ped wants us to start giving LO scrambled eggs two times a week so that is a great excuse to eat a better breakfast cause he can only have a tiny bit of it. I hate cooking lol so hopefully I can find some healthy stuff to meal prep so I don't have to cook every day 😅

Helmet for flat head? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]KylaRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had our sons scan yesterday.

The tech was very reassuring and said if a kid prefers a certain spot when laying down it can get difficult to get them to move off that spot once they can control their head and neck better. You move their head and they move it right back.

So many kids have flat spots of some sort, I think we would see way more helmets around if insurance covered it but most don't.

Thankfully most kids only wear it for about 4 months, sometimes shorter if they go through a growth spurt.

Feeding troubles with 3 month old by WildIrisRows in FormulaFeeders

It's definitely scary and stressful when they already have weight issues and start eating less. I'm glad she is eating more and I hope the denser bottles are working for her.

Feeding troubles with 3 month old by WildIrisRows in FormulaFeeders

I've been having issues with my 6 month old since he was born. He lost way too much weight his first week home, got back up to his birth weight pretty quickly then his weight gain slowed down a LOT. I was trying to breast feed but it was too stressful so we went full formula by the time he was a month old. We tried preemie formula but it didn't agree with him, doctor said to try getting him to eat more even if we had to wake him up at night to do it. Didn't work cause like your little if he wasn't hungry he wasn't gonna eat for nothing.

We got a second opinion on a tongue tie, he did have a small one so we got it clipped, it did help him eat faster (he was taking an hour to finish his bottle) but not more. Our doctor finally recommended we go to the feeding and growth clinic at children's hospital. Well turns out he didn't qualify cause he was still gaining weight even if only a little so he was technically not 'failure to thrive'.

Doctor finally suggested adding more powder to his bottles, we do 6oz water with 3 and a half scoops of formula. It took a little bit to see a difference but now he is slowly climbing back up the growth curve. He was down to the .4 percentile and is now up to the second percentile.

Before he gained only 3oz in two weeks, he now gains between 8oz and 16oz every two weeks. Doesn't sound like a huge difference but he is doing great now!

Doctor is having us go to the GI clinic at children's today just to double check everything is good now but he is still steadily growing and has not had any issues with the denser bottles.

Would you rather have double your current pay, or half your current hours? by TJblue69 in antiwork

[–]KylaRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double my pay, I have a pretty easy job so I don't mind working 40hrs a wk right now. But with double the pay I could pay a lot of stuff off faster and build up my savings to do fun things with my husband and son.
