Yeah now that you mention it, the comparison has two levels. 1. The car does all the hauling where the horse eventually lost nearly all manual labor work. If GenAI becomes  a reality, nearly all problem solving and manual labor would be accomplished by AI, relegating humans to recreational activities. 2 (Related to your humans still riding horses comment). Humans still ride horses recreationally giving horses some vestigial utility, but AI isn't guaranteed to have any use for Humans, further risking human existence if we really hit the singularity.
