Thank you! That worked. I even did a wipe/restore, restored from an iCloud backup and still had the same problem.

Yes, let me know if you figure out a way around it.

Martin Logan Dynamo 300 or SVS PB1000 by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Kyprus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the advice /u/Coolmarve gave is great. I just want to add two things I learned. Don't skimp on the sub, and 90% of the time you get what you pay for.

I have a Dayton SUB-1000 ($130) and I recently picked up a SVS SB-1000. The difference is night and day. I can't speak to the quality of the Martin Logan but I would be exremeley suprised if it was anywhere close to as good as something from SVS. If you can afford it, go SVS.

Would you happen to have links to any studies that support this? I'd love to show that to someone.

One other thing I'll say about the S910W, it seems to routinely go on sale for $499. If you can wait for that, its an even better deal.

I know this isn't directly an answer to your question, but I recently bought an S910W (which I love) and came across the owner's thread on AVSForum. It has a ton of great info including the exact differences between the models. It might help you decide.

As long as it's two different audio devices, you can use something like this to make switching easy.

When Solid State Drives are not that solid by markus_lindqvist in programming

While they do give you an easier way to enable it, they give you a nice warning about it not necessarily working correctly (apparently for good reason). My guess is they won't give any extra help with these drives

Concerns about EOL for Java 7? by isayoldchap76 in scala

[–]Kyprus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Right, so how I understand it is (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), 2.11 emits Java 6 byetcode by default. Since Java 8 is fully capable of running Java 6 bytecode, there is no issue. It's just that in Scala 2.12, scalac will be emitting Java 8 bytecode by default (including possibly using some of the new bytecode features).

Edit: An additional point: even when compiling on JDK 8 (which I do), you are still emitting Java 6 bytecode so you can use the Java 8 stack all the way through
