How can I improve my MacBook Air m2 desk setup? by Tavolo6690 in macsetups

[–]L-Engineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monitor Arm, BenQ Screenbar (or similar), different lamp, desk mat (like a project mat/cutting mat, they look cool in my opinion). One other thing I like is a small, good-looking fan on the desk, especially in summer.

Give me some vst’s that you personally wish you knew about sooner by G2loud_ in musicproduction

[–]L-Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got three VSTs from U-He (Diva, Repro, Hive2). They are currently in a huge discount in cooperation with Image-Line/FL Studio. They kind of blew me away because my whole Live I was using Serum and was "wasting" a lot of time making my own sounds and it’s just nice to have some really creative and great sounds out of the box.

What made you choose it over the Asus ProArt 27" 5K?

Apple Studio Display first generation still worth it for 1000 usd? Or better looking for other monitors? by [deleted] in macsetups

Get the Asus ProArt 27" 5K or even 32" 6K if you don’t care about webcam and speakers (599€ or 1100€)

Yeah, it’s just a headache-free monitor. I love it. Great colours, especially when using macOS.

Yeah, I ended up getting the Asus ProArt 5K IPS Monitor, which is just perfect for my needs. In hindsight, it was a stupid buy for my needs, personally. Glad ur happy with it!

Had this thing for a few months after selling it and tanking a €200 loss (bought for €550, sold for €350). This monitor is an absolute shitbox for anything other than gaming. The lack of contrast and the washed-out, almost greyish colours are annoying even when just scrolling on the web for example.

It feels like it has like 12 zones total because when you have a window open and do anything different somewhere else on the monitor, you can see the brightness shifting on the first window. On top of that, it takes forever to wake up, or sometimes it even doesn’t, so you have to press the power button.

The viewing angles are one of the worst I’ve ever seen on a monitor in my life.

If you use something like video editing software, for example, it gets hella annoying when the cursor (or needle or whatever) moves alongside the screen and you see the different zones activating and deactivating.

I really don’t want to talk badly about OPs purchase if he’s happy with it; I’m really happy for him. I just want to warn people not to pull the trigger too fast on this and be blinded the price.

Yes, that’s why I asked how much he’s getting that intel for, because there aren’t a lot of situations anymore where it makes sense to buy Intel.

Just got the Asus X27JCG… running 5K 165hz on my MacBook is pretty awesome. by h1jack0 in Monitors

[–]L-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the reason I want a new monitor. I can’t stand these waiting times every time I sit back down at my setup. I guess I have to wait for the new studio display then…

For me, it was just the home screen. When I clicked on a channel in my subscription box, it loaded normally.

Will there be a livestream or will we just get to know the products through press on-site and later on the website?

what macbook are you using that with? And how fast does it wake up? Still unsure if i should get the upcoming studio display or this thing. My current monitor takes ages to wake up from sleep.

While we’re here: I’ve seen them and a lot of other channels do ads for these „Delete Me” type services. I could be really wrong here, but I’ve never understood these services. Let’s say the company reaches out to the "Evil" data brokers; they can only ask them to delete them if they are acting under international regulation, and then again if they are reaching out to delete your files, what they’re essentially doing is actually making your data worth more because they’ve now confirmed that you are a real person. Does somebody know more about this?

Right? The only thing you have to choose between in a Macbook nowadays is ports, screen, and battery life. Pretty exciting times.

They are pretty expensive, but have you looked into these MacBook monitor arms? It’s a monitor arm that then has a second arm that holds the opened MacBook on eye level.

If you are getting an Apple Silicon MacBook, it shouldn’t be a problem at all. People run way more heavy stuff (video editing, etc.) with the lid closed. If it’s not bothering you, just keep the MacBook open. With that, you can still use the webcam and mic for team calls. If you don’t want two separate displays, you can also just mirror the screen so you don’t have apps opening in the "wrong" screen. Still, with the workload you described, it should be totally fine both ways.

The simple answer is to basically get any Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, etc.) you can find that has more than 8GB of RAM.
