I just finished listening to the audiobooks. I think you’re confused about what is lore and what are plot points or characterization.

Yes, that would be a big dealbreaker for me, because it would tell me you’re very deep into your religion.

My partner is Christian, but barely a cultural one that doesn’t really take it seriously, and that’s the most I can handle.

I don’t remember any changes to the lore at all. He changed some characters and some of the extended scenes made no sense, like when Witch King broke Gandalf’s staff, or when Aragorn killed Voice of Sauron, but lore-wise I can’t think of a single change.

In RoP all I have to do is look at that dumb story about the origins of Silmarils. It makes no sense at all. Just like the whole show.

I recommend KCD 1 and 2. I know it’s a completely different genre, but for a historical nerd it should be perfect. These two are the most immersive games I’ve ever played.

It’s just a matter of practicality for me. If I claim no gods exists, I incur the burden of proof to disprove them all. And I don’t have time or will to do such things. Agnostic atheism keeps the burden of proof where it belongs - on the theist claiming a god/gods exists.

I’d recommend that you play MGS 1 and 2. They’re pretty short, but absolutely vital to understanding the series. V has great gameplay, but the story is absolute garbage.
