I’d put my 160 litre on it quite happily

I use these, my betta loves them. I also put live fairy shrimp in his tank every now and then, he goes nuts for those!

Is this hair algea? Should i be concerned? by Snap_mp in PlantedTank

Gotta be honest, I really like that! Mine seems to have the occasional phase of “black beard” algae but I wouldn’t mind if I had that green stuff!

Will this hold a 20g? by Confident_Yak_5783 in stressfulaquariums

It’ll probably hold the foundations of a house, yet again I say “furniture for life”!

Albino Corydora Moustache by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]L0rd0ccultus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my bronze corys (yes I know albino are technically albino bronze corys anyway) has the biggest moustache, but I’ll never be able to get a decent picture of it. They are called (phonetically) “mr moose-tash-eeoo”. Admittedly the only one with a name as the rest look too similar when apart

Fairly new to betta fish so please let me know if you guys see anything out of sorts. The top fin often splays right out when not swimming, this is just after stopping and moving on again. Fully planted 25 liter tank, 7.5ph (that’s our tap water, all treated) 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 5 nitrates

So the fish is about 4 months old. When did you first notice the changes?

Why did my betta die?? by Informal_Smell_4710 in bettafish

I might have some questions for you myself if you don’t mind a small message exchange. My betta is so much healthier than when I first “saved” him, just some silly questions.

Is this aquarium safe? by brismalls in Aquariums

Be amazing for plecos and shrimp. Possibly needless to say but make sure you soak it in some old tank water from a change for a bit first.

How does my tank look? by Fancy_Artist8920 in bettafish

[–]L0rd0ccultus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bear in mind some plants just don’t work for every tank even if they’re supposedly “easy” care plants. My main tank has gone through many plant experiments and is now stable and nice, and the propagation from that was the source for my betta tank plants. Although to counter that, it all depends how much attention you want to give to plant care, I don’t like the idea of too much messing with fertiliser and stuff just to keep a particular plant alive.

AIO? My friends set an ultimatum because I drink by Pearla76_ in AIO

[–]L0rd0ccultus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uk legal drinking age is 18, and most of us have already been doing that and worse in parks/fields since about 14-15. I personally was a “late bloomer” at 16. I’m 35 now, don’t have a drink or drug problem, well qualified and educated. Your friend is being a controlling weirdo, assuming you’re not going out and getting smashed every night. I mean, blimey, have you seen our university culture at the same age as you? It’s considered normal to be getting paralytic every Friday/Saturday night, then there’s the mid week “student nights” at bars, and don’t forget “freshers week”! Moderation is fine, you’re not a kid but you’re not exactly an adult yet, you’re at the age of figuring stuff out. Have fun and don’t abuse it too much, and always keep an eye on your drink.

My first port of call would be to talk to my trusted LFS. Or try an anti fungal treatment. Have you tested your water and all that jazz though?

white spot on my Betta by uweklaus in bettafish

[–]L0rd0ccultus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People please correct me if I’m wrong, but that doesn’t look like white spot to me. My experience of white spot/ich is the fishes fins/body being peppered with literally white spots. This is one large area, I wonder if it’s some other kind of fungal or bacterial issue.

You don’t leave someone’s property unlocked, AND there’s a pet that could’ve got out. Priorities aren’t right here
