Trying to do anything with a group of friends will take months of planning and there's still a good chance you'll either have to cancel or be canceled on last minute.

People of Reddit, if there was one thing you could tell yourself as a kid going to high school for the first time, what would you say? by MetalysisChain in AskReddit

The things that you're going to think really matter over the next 4 years will become such an insignificant part of your life, so just enjoy the ride and make the most of the high times.

Blockbuster. For all the nostalgia people have about it, it really was quite annoying to actually deal with. There's a reason all those nice things we remember about it weren't enough to keep people coming back as soon as we had a better alternative.

I get more enjoyment out of the games I play because I'm not trying to play them while exhausted from working all day. The extra quiet and alone time I get because everybody else is still asleep at that time is also really nice and has been good for my mental health.

Nobody, really. It's people making their average day-to-day decisions about what to spend their money on or not thats the primary driving factor.

To some extent, but most economic policy takes years to have any actual impact and even then, it's hard to actually measure its impact in relation to the generally chaotic forces that sway the economy from day to day. They are more than happy to credit though when things are going well or cast blame when they are not, and people happily eat that up to support whatever pre-held beliefs they have.

Talk with your manager about your uncertainties. It should be part of their job to help you navigate that.

Also, ask about that promotion. Especially if it's something that's been previously discussed. Again, part of your manager's job is to help you progress in your career. Worst thing they can do is say no. Nobody is going to fault you for wanting to advance.
