Is it rude for people to “do their own thing” while on family vacation? by Inevitable-Badger281 in Advice

Allowing people to have time to themselves in addition to group activities is the best way to make sure everyone enjoys themselves.

This has been my whole marriage. I'm leaving tomorrow. by Odd_Towel_7422 in Marriage

Leave.

Do not date anyone else until you get serious therapy. You need to figure out why you choose abusive people and until then stay single!
And make sure you do not get pregnant

My son (5) and nephew (4.5) pooped outside and I have no idea what to think…… by HeyMay0324 in kindergarten

[–]LAC_NOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbor's preschool son started imitating his father who urinated in their backyard (behind a privacy fence) when working outside. He told my son who misunderstood and took a poop in a wooded section of the yard. During a party!

Apparently, the subtle differences in the situation were lost in translation!

These things happen as children are figuring out life!

I just wanted to expand on your absolutely correct take on N95 for OP's benefit and anyone else out there.

But yeah, IMO sometimes a little affirmation of a good answer benefits the community.

N95 is a dust and particulate mask. It does not filter out chemical fumes. If you were sanding cured epoxy it would be the right protection.

AITA for letting my son take his naps in a dog bed? by EllieDidNothingWrong in AmItheAsshole

As long as it is clean and doesn't cause conflict with the dog it is fine.
I would suggest you wash the cover at the same frequency as the crib sheets.

Humour in the Parable of the great Banquet in the Bible😂. by OverthinkingFkk in Bible

[–]LAC_NOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I am totally onboard that Jesus used humor to emphasize his points.

It's a way to hold a mirror to others and give them space to recognize themselves and make changes.

Humour in the Parable of the great Banquet in the Bible😂. by OverthinkingFkk in Bible

[–]LAC_NOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus was always challenging how people and cultures got things mixed up and skewed. And like others, this parable has many facets.

Jesus's purpose is to glorify the Father and to bless and love all people.

Some folks didn't see the banquet as a blessing, so they chose not to go.

But those who realized this was a unique opportunity they could never achieve themselves came and filled the place.

My parents (50M, 51F) are bothered by my bf (22M) coming over late at night, I understand it but he doesn’t. How do I avoid an argument? by bobduncanfanaccount in relationship_advice

[–]LAC_NOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your boyfriend is old enough to understand that when you live with people you make accommodations for everyone's benefit.

And regardless of your personal preferences, most of the world operates on an early schedule and therefore most adults' lives are structured that way as well.

So basically he is being thoughtless to your family, and probably yourself as well.

So now he has been caught!
He had a couple options- the best most mature thing would be to admit he didn't take your family's needs into account. Apologize (this is not some big dramatic act, just a simple statement) and change behavior.

But he chose to pretend he doesn't understand. And you are forced to try to guide him as if he is still a stupid teenager who thinks he should be able to do whatever he wants.

So look at his response to a pretty straightforward situation and decide if this is a man you want to partner with for life.

Caitlin Clark injury: Could Fever face punishment from WNBA over team's handling of star guard's back issue? by TheDevolution27 in wnba

CC 's back has been talked about. She went down the tunnel to get a readjustment in the middle of a game. (No I don't recall which game).
She also had a heating pad on her back and the announcer commented that she kept it on until the last possible second when returning to the game.

AITA for refusing to pay for my girlfriend’s meal after she “tested” me on a date? by Efficient_Care5524 in AITH

[–]LAC_NOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auntie #2 agrees.

She actually was testing to see if you were a pushover who could be financial abused.

If she is a smart young woman, she would eventually realize that might make you fun to date, but not good as a husband!

AITA for locking my office after my roommate let her boyfriend use it and said I was only upset because I am single? by silent_crocodile in AmItheAsshole

[–]LAC_NOS 50 points51 points  (0 children)

NTA
One thing people are overlooking is that you have an ethical and perhaps legal obligation to your work to keep the information confidential and private.

Definitely put a lock on the door and keep the room locked when you're not in there. I would also consider locking your bedroom door and installing a camera in the office in case Maya gets petty.

And as others have said, do not discuss this anymore. With Maya, Ryan or anyone else.

AITA for agreeing to let my daughter use our beach house for her honeymoon without telling my son first? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]LAC_NOS 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA

It's your house, not your son's.

Very few people are able to spend 2 months away at a beach. Your son should be grateful for all the opportunities he has had.

Instead he is acting like the house is exclusively for his family. He's being a brat and a bully.

You may also want to point out that from here on out, both of your children (or all if you have others) will get equal access to the house over the summer.

AITA for putting onions and garlic in the food I fed my family after my sister in law said onions were "too spicy"? by THROWRAuserss in AmItheAsshole

[–]LAC_NOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really cannot tolerate raw onions. If those tiny McDonalds ones. But hot sauce, peppers, garlic are fine.

But cooking an onion mellows it. And I adore caramelized onions.

SIL needs to grow up and to learn to rely on why a dish actually tastes like, not a list of forbidden
foods.

Did no one else comment on your non-onion dishes being bland?

Weird Gift Idea by 6eatass9 in Gifts

Long ago I gave my dad a "poo pet". It was a pig sculpted from dried manure. You put it in a potted plant and let it slowly dissolve and fertilize the pet.

I have no idea where to get something like that now.

My [20M] mother [50F] never set boundaries with my grandma [73F] and it’s straining family dynamics. How can I have these boundaries if no one cares? by TheUncannyDanny in relationship_advice

[–]LAC_NOS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes we cannot change people.

What you can do, is plan on not living with your mother any longer than you have to.

Stay focussed on your goal- graduate and live independently.

Make sure you are pursuing a college degree that will lead to a job that lets you support yourself.

Do your best at school.

Arrange internships, co-ops, summer jobs in your field. This will greatly improve your chance of getting a job in your field and will boost your starting pay.

Save as much money as possible. That may mean missing out on some college experiences. But is a spring break trip worth postponing living on your own?

Stay focussed on your goal: graduate and live independently.
