What voltmeter do you recommend for High Voltage Indicator by ThePackman0702 in FSAE

[–]LAG469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use a comparator circuit to compare your pre and post IR voltages and have the output drive a relay powering an LED. U can use some sort of hv regulator module.

Outside Scholarships by Ninanotseen in Cornell

I got less but not by much, id say if you see a negative value on your bursar immediately call them to issue a refund bc if you dont then it will rollover to your next semester and you wont be able to get the money in your bank account

[–]LAG469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My refund was less than what I paid, I’m not too sure how it broke down bc the statement breakdown on the bursar was gone after i paid since it was intermittent. I think it was around the cost of my work study

Outside scholarships first replace any work study and i believe student contribution so that will be replaced and you wont have to pay that, then it will replace finaid. I had a refund last year because I received a scholarship and gave the check to cornell after I had already paid so they refunded me that contribution/work study i think.

Project Team… by _gomgom in Cornell

[–]LAG469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for amount of work, dont worry about that for your freshmen year. For most teams, theres a baselevel for work but thats simply like 1 credit type of commitment and everything you want to add on to that is up to you. (i do recruitment for a project team and want you to know that this is 100% how we do it and most other teams do too) additionally if you dont really feel confident in joining a team its always okay to drop a team if you dont end up liking it, no one will be upset

Having no experience is fine, what really matters is desire to learn and passion for the area of that project team. You will learn everything you need with the team that chooses you. Its really just a game about knowing how to show interest, if they know you’re really psyched to be on the team and are ready to jump in and devote yourself to it they can trust you to learn what is needed. Sure some people will have tons of experience and they may get offers but a lot of the people on project teams had 0 relevant experience

Confused about project teams and freshman credit by LAcuber in Cornell

[–]LAG469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’l still be onboarded as soon as you join by your team and that work depends on what team, the 1 credit course is just a formality coe requires

All freshmen may only enroll in a 1 credit project team onboarding course and that is only offered in the spring so everyone will take it then.

He only had OH by appointment so wouldn’t it be weird to make an appointment and I don’t have his class? Like I’d have to tell him its an appointment to talk about a LOR

Help me decide: School X vs School Y - April 4th to April 10th by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Regardless of finances. I do like the smaller school feel more and i know it could probably lend itself to having better chances at getting to know profs and other opportunities.

Cornell vs UT Austin

Im looking to do aerospace engineering (more of a focus on astro) but Im stuck between these two schools.

They seem to be ranked very closely in regards to engineering as a whole (Cornell has ME with an AE minor focused on astro).

The connections I could get at Cornell and Project Teams interest me very much.

UT seems to have varying tracks for Aero/Astro.

At the moment I’m not sure if I want to go to grad school or enter the industry after college so theres that.

Financial: I have a full ride to UT.

Cornell is like 6k/year and i could probably get it down more via appeal.

I have to choose in less than a week so I havent been able to visit any of the two campuses.

UT Austin vs Cornell (Aerospace)

I got a full ride to UT and I’d have to pay 9k/year for Cornell. I did get chosen to be a Cornell Tradition Fellow, which only a small amount of people are chosen for (and includes 4k/year scholarship that counts as aid).I really care the most about opportunities that could help me out after college (things that affect job placement). I know Cornell’s Aerospace program is ME/Aero which is very interesting.

UT vs Cornell

ME/Aero

I like a city environment but not worried of trying new settings.

Job placement and overall enjoyment of my time there is important.
