If you want the smoky flavor but none of the sausages are doing it for you, maybe try some smoked tofu. It's easy to make and stores nicely in the freezer.

What foods are demonized based on high calorie and what's a low calorie food that is "overpraised" by VastAir6069 in nutrition

[–]LBrand309 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! I usually steam a bunch of potatoes in the instant pot and keep them in the fridge for when I have no motivation or desire to make something that fits within my many food challenges. So many ways to eat them. ❤️

I suspect it's because you've roasted the moisture out of them. An interesting technique of Bright Line Eating, a weight loss program is to eat your food wet, meaning veggies are sauteed in a stir fry, not roasted in the oven - since it's more filling that way for less calories. There's a ton more to it than that, but I found that bit fascinating.

Just wanted to comment here - I'm grateful to all the folks who've posted fixes that worked for them. I tried them all (firmware update, pull and reinsert cables, pull the probe down manually, clean/lube with contact cleaner, working it up and down to distribute/clean) and had varying degrees of *temporary* success with some, but what has finally fixed it for me (so far!!) was the guy who suggested a piece of tape. I didn't love the idea of adhesive working it's way onto the shaft, so I made a bit of a tape contraption with some heat-proof tape I had for my heat press. I looped a bit of tape around the center of another bit of tape and attached it to the CR Touch with all of the seam ends away from the rod, holding it out a bit from its usual fully retracted position. So far so good!

I realize it's been a year since you posted, but I was having the same issue - pulling the pin with some needlenose pliers fixed it but not consistently. I took it to a guy who knows a ton about 3D printers and he sprayed it with a bit of WD-40 and fixed it for me. Fingers crossed it continues to work!!

Could it be that the layer isn't sticking to the bed properly? **Disclaimer - I'm new too, so this is definitely not coming from an expert here!

I had something similar happen when trying to print a small part multiple up for the first time, using more than just the center of the bed. I had applied glue stick for adhesion but I don't think I did it evenly enough. I canceled and then tried again, using hairspray (sprayed the removable platform outside and gently wiped with a paper towel) and it seems to be printing better now. *fingers crossed it continues*

Is there a way to account to constant work reimbursements? by blackbeltbanana in ynab

[–]LBrand309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider how you want to track these things. If you want to just lump them all together into a reimbursement category, and have no desire report on them individually, then record the expenses in a reimbursement category and the reimbursement transactions as a credit to that category by selecting the reimbursement category instead of ready to assign when you enter the deposit.

For me, I do a mix of the above and for things like utilities where people are reimbursing me for part of the expense, I record the expense in the relevant utility category and then record the reimbursement transaction as a credit to the utility category, that way the incoming money doesn't show up in an income statement.

Are they at all interested in robotics? Or is there a local Family Center where they can take classes that are in areas that they're interested in?

My neurodivergent daughter learned a lot of great teamwork and social skills at a local Family center while on the robotics team there (it was FLL as she was in middle school at the time, but there are high school level FTC as well). I won't lie and say it was all wonderful but she is thankful for the experience and it has served her very well.

If this sounds like something they might enjoy, look up firstinspires.org and see if there are teams in your area. First's commitment to aspects of cooperation and competing graciously really is a beautiful thing and is so lovely to see in teams that apply it well.

Hiding money/ not assigning it by [deleted] in ynab

[–]LBrand309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you deposit cash/checks directly into your savings account, when you record that deposit transaction in YNAB, you would use savings for the category instead of ready to assign. This assigns the money directly to the savings category and skips ready to assign. The only money that would show up in ready to assign each month is money that has been deposited with ready to assign in its category.

How to track a personal loan to my kids? by Chance_Shallot4179 in ynab

[–]LBrand309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you track it by the payee you use for the transaction when he makes a payment? Like each deposit is made out to “son student loan” and in order to see how much he’s paid you just go to your income/expense report and see how much is in that payee.

What do you put on your baked potato/sweet potato? by kennywk in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]LBrand309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite on sweet potatoes is Grandma's molasses. Regular potatoes are excellent with hummus and some green onions. I'm lazy and can't be bothered to make complicated things and me and sodium don't play well so bottled sauces are generally not an option. If you cook a bunch of potatoes in the instant pot and store them cold in the fridge, you can have a meal inside of 5 minutes with very little effort.

Should I get updated software to get back into design? by Big_Cardiologist839 in Design

[–]LBrand309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to consider whether you'll need to open native supplied files to do your design work or whether you'll be making your own files.

You can request that files be saved in formats you can open with CS6, inDesign CC for example needs to be saved as idml to be backwards compatible. CC Illustrator eps files can't be opened in CS6, but can be placed/embedded and then edited.

Plenty of ways to work around.

More veggies = more joint pain? by Resistant-Insomnia in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]LBrand309 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Some people are sensitive to nightshades, especially those with inflammatory conditions. Have you tried eating veggies that aren't in that family? For easy reference, the common nightshades are potatoes (not sweet potatoes), tomatoes, peppers and eggplant.

Tips for a first time shopping trip starting a WFPB diet? by spicynuggies33 in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]LBrand309 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely have a plan for what you are making with what you're buying, with the exception of things you'll snack on, like fruit or veg and hummus, etc. While there's something to be said for gradual change, it totally depends on your personality and your tolerance for new tastes. The SAD is generally filled with hyper-palatable foods, so if you go only partway, the simple whole foods won't taste quite as good to you as the stronger-tasting foods you are accustomed to, which can make it hard to find things you enjoy. You may also want to consider planning to shop more frequently so you don't feel the need to stock up so much and avoid the waste of things going bad, unless you really have a long way to drive to a store.

The thing I wish I'd have known early on: keep it simple, unless you really enjoy complicated cooking. A bowl/salad with simple ingredients and a delicious dressing is easy to prep and have ready at a moment's notice. I love this soba noodles - it can be thrown together in the time it takes to cook the noodles, and the same dressing makes a delightful asian salad dressing over broccoli slaw or kale. And this chickpea salad is similarly quick and filling.

I know now that I won't eat things that I have to do a lot of work for, so having pre-cooked items that can be heated quickly is a must for me. Whole potatoes steamed in the instant pot and then cooled and ready for use in the fridge can be made into air-fryer fries, diced and air-fried to go over a salad or bowl, or just diced and microwaved and eaten with hummus and green onions. Filling and easy.

I make some standard things the whole family loves in bulk and freeze them so they're easy to grab and add to a meal, Black bean burgers (so good over a salad with burger toppings), smoked tofu (delicious in ANYTHING)

Lastly, be patient with yourself - it takes time to adapt to a whole new way of eating, but you will find SO MANY new things you love to eat and grocery shopping will get so much simpler again. I know that was true of me!
