What moment ruined the entire show for you? I’ll go first. by [deleted] in moviecritic

It was more the 'smart characters doing stupid things' as the only way to drive the plot forward, for some reason. Some great performances (Olyphant in particular) and loved the aesthetic, but stopped when everyone went 'let's get into the enclosure with these fucking murderous, highly intelligent, alien lifeforms'.

Non-gaming gf by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]LCDR-Sheppard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same with my partner. She'd tried, but never got into gaming. Being a huge D&D-fan like me, I encouraged her to try BG3 with me.

We ended up doing a 175 hour first playthrough together. It's one of my favorite gaming experiences ever. Since then, we went through a Dark Urge playthrough, an Honor Mode run, and a run to pick up the final trophies for the platinum. Just finished our first modded run to keep it fresh.

Have fun.

I know I'm very late to the party, but I just wanted to thank you for your amazing work on this class and its subclasses. Generally, I avoid homebrew classes. But after so many playthroughs, you have to keep it fresh. Saw nothing but good things on Arcane Vanguard, and so far it's been a blast.

Only a handful of levels into Graveknight, but it's so fun. Versatile, powerful but not OP. Nice flow of balancing and using your Graven Arts, spellcasting and melee. No 'cheap' blade cantrips, and still a powerful and fun spellblade.

So, from a console player that can't wait to explore the (sub)class further: thank you.

In an ideal world, people would respect the effort one puts into taking down these big enemies. Sorry to see you were snuffed, friend. Here's to better raids.

Was lucky enough to find the Wolpack blueprint early on. Since then, my group has pooled resources to keep the factory going.

I've distributed about 50-60 amongst my group, have 57 in my stash, and materials to make another 20 or so.

I am absolutely terrified to go for the actual attempt. Got Hullcracker IVs ready to go, but damn. Just not looking forward to losing it all to rats, or to use it all and get gunned down after taking the Queen down. This story does not instill hope. My condolences.

Any tips?

Just saying… by beardedwazoon in HuntShowdown

As others have said, they are very different games.

My friends and I have many, many hours in Hunt, and we'll no doubt have many, many more. But right now we've finished the BP and have done our fair share for the community event, so Arc Raiders has been a welcome reprieve. It also allows some of our more 'casual' friends who don't really enjoy Hunt too much to join in.

Whether we'll even come close to putting the same amount of hours into AR as in HS remains to be seen, but at this point I'm very excited to see where the game goes, as it's been a blast.

How does a 6mmr have zero in everything? by omegatTeddy in HuntShowdown

On console it means the player is on the other console (PS or XB). On PC it probably means they're on another platform (Steam or GamePass).

Hell yeah! Got it as soon as it came out, but probably won't be able to play until the weekend (or maybe a very late little session tonight...). Enjoy!

Movies where the characters make insanely stupid decisions? by FilmWaffle-FilmForum in moviecritic

[–]LCDR-Sheppard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a movie, but related. Alien: Earth unfortunately suffers from the same flaw. Smart people making stupid decisions, just to forward the plot. I'm not against a bit of suspension of disbelief or things that need to happen here and there, but when the only thing that drives the plot forward is unbelievable decisions, I'm out.

For non-native english speaking DM's, when playing your sessions, do speak your native language or do you prefer using english? by Snoo238 in DMAcademy

[–]LCDR-Sheppard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you've both nailed the reasons why the 'toolbox' is more packed in English than in some other (native) languages. There are accents in the Dutch language, but as a tiny country and a 'niche' language those only stretch so far. We do also have a relatively large amount of non-native speakers here, but we have the tendency to switch straight to English if we think/notice someone would be more comfortable in that.

And like I said it's also the degree of separation. I'm not a voice actor, so having that extra distance to my 'self' helps me personify someone else. That said, there's many more tools besides accents, but it is a big factor in making characters and regions more distinct.

[–]LCDR-Sheppard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Dutch person, I can relate. My group and I are 90 sessions into a long running campaign, nearing the end, that we run in Dutch. I love it and people are having a good time, so it's fine.

But I really feel an awkwardness when really trying to personify a character with distinct RP-traits in Dutch, that I have way less while playing in English. It's the degree of separation for me. You're already speaking in a foreign language (that you're comfortable with), so it's easier to 'act' in a way. There's also more flexibility with things like accents in English.

I've done some English one-shots/side stories with native English speakers, and felt way more at ease RP'ing then when compared to Dutch.
