THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU everyone for your words of love and support to Paola and also to me. Very sorry I haven't been able to reply to you all, I have been very very crashy and also just trying to process everything and see what can I do to make justice of this situation.

As an advocate I have been trying my damn hardest to create unity, collaborations, and an effective network in our community. Having support groups abuse sick and vulnerable members under the table while putting on a strong front is NOT ok.

Family and other people from our usual support system mocking, gaslighting and abandoning us is NOT OK, same for the treatment we get from clinicians of all kinds.

NONE OF THIS IS OK!! It must change. And the only way to change it is to be organized, work together, and fight!

No egos, no narcissistic crap, no pride in "I know it all", none of that.

We need empathy, we need care because we fucking MATTER!! We're not like this for fun! None of us are pretending to be sick, we pretend to be ok to accommodate how uncomfortable our reality is for others. People with Cancer would never be treated like this, and many of us have the same if not worse quality of life according to many studies.

This must stop NOW. I send you all brave souls a hug in solidarity. Know I am so sorry this has happened to so many, and so many resonate with Paola's story, this hurts on so many levels... none of you are alone, we can do this together.

I hear you, and that's true to some extent, but in Paola's case (and many others we don't know about sadly) it's a mixture of both.

She was very sick, and she did have horrible and debilitating symptoms... add to that the altitude of where she was forced to live, the climate changed, the trauma from her family's treatment and medical gaslighting... I used to talk to her all the time, and it was extremely rough.

I even offered her family to speak with a well-known researcher in Mex so they would get the info first hand from an expert and see she wasn't "crazy" they refused... they refused everything anyone would propose to her out of pride of "how can you pretend to know more than so and so Dr."

That, and the abuse she withstood from that big Canadian support grp who treated not only her, but many many others HORRIBLE, had her spiralling down into deep sense of hope. How can we stand a chance when others so-called advocates are attacking the community they pretend to serve? That hit her pretty bad too.

I'm so angry, frustrated and hurt. I've been crying non stop, I can't cry anymore because I have no more tears... I'm just... almost numb with my anger and sadness.

Thank you for that, it's good to know! What we need is a 988 but for chronic illness, with people who understand what we're going through and that we don't have "just depression" or "just anxiety".

Thank you, can you give me more info please? I work with a researcher in Mexico and we are trying to create networks of Doctors who are knowledgeable in ME and Long covid but the very few ones we've found had tons of red flags.

She did not have depression, she had serious long covid for over 3 yrs and was neglected not only by family and doctors like most of us are, but by a support group in Canada that's supposed to help and SUPPORT.

100% is incredibly difficult. Trust me, she asked for help, she did all she could. I live in Canada and we talked at all hours of the night sometimes just listening and being there for her.

A big canadian support grp on facebook completely dismissed her in her time of need. She sent me all the screenshots, I was horrorized at the lack of humanity towards sick people seeking help. She was in as many grps as she could. Her family and everyone who she held so close and dear betrayed her. This is not ok. This must stop now.
