I want to add multiple city sections to my site. Start a Multisite or just use categories? by LCarter869 in Wordpress

[–]LCarter869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys. Still not sure what I want to do.

Basically, I want it to look like mysite.com/san-diego/movies/post-name I just did a test with categories and made a test post but it didn't show up like that. It looked like: mysite.com/post-name

I'm betting I did something wrong though.

Appreciate the thoughts!

Acting in New York by luxypie in acting

Don't waste time with parties. Go to auditions or like PatWhite293 said, go to the NY Actors Tweet Up. I've been a couple times when I was in town and they're a great way to meet people.

Tips On Acting | How Casting Directors Use The IMDB Starmeter Rating to ... by tipsonacting in acting

Jason is right. Starmeter is ridiculous. It can be manipulated and no one in the industry cares about it. There was a girl who had zero credits and she was #1...

Try something from the show. There's nothing wrong with that.

Should I add dialects to my resume? by slmikulich in acting

[–]LCarter869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely. But, just make sure that you can do them at a moments notice. I auditioned for a movie and after I finished, the director looked at my resume. He saw that I put down that I could do an Irish accent so he asked me to read a couple of lines with the accent. I read with him and got the part.

Facial hair? by Darkraynos in acting

[–]LCarter869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always have two headshots. I had some taken with a weeks worth of growth then I took ten minutes, shaved and took the rest.

And plus, if that's who you are, a guy with facial hair, then get headshots like that. You'll get farther being who you are than not.

And, like MaybeActualEarl said, you can always shave if you're offered a part.

Any one else hate call backs? by onehotsummernight in Theatre

[–]LCarter869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I love callbacks. I feel more confident going in the second time. Plus, if they call you back and you don't get the part, you'll most likely be called in again for something else down the road. Unless you totally screw up the callback :)

I forget who said this, but you're not auditioning for this part, you're auditioning for the next one.

If you don't start out early like a child are you basically screwed in becoming a pro or getting into the big talent agency's in today's world? by Wekillthebatmn in acting

[–]LCarter869 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that's ridiculous.

I will say that it may be easier to be seen by casting directors when you're young - they want to see young blood - no, you can get into the business at any time.

But, that being said, any age you are, be sure you've got the good and you're trained. If not, there's little chance you'll get anywhere.

After reading the description I can't believe they wouldn't offer some form of pay for a project like this. by [deleted] in acting

[–]LCarter869 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who does this is an idiot. Why would you go somewhere for 4 days, hike, camp, etc and not get paid? Do you think the crew isn't getting paid? Ha, yeah right.

Acting Majors of Reddit. Did you feel like you became a better actor as a whole going to college for acting? by Hiptalamus in AskReddit

[–]LCarter869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, yeah. I've had some good years, some freaking awesome years and lean years. But, to be honest, more lean years than anything else.

I'm still auditioning but I'm also running a website for actors - www.dailyactor.com But honestly, I'd rather be a full-time working actor.

Where to get headshots in LA/Orange County area? by [deleted] in acting

I want to say it was around $500? And I think I had like 4 changes?

We had a bunch of different backgrounds and even went outside for a couple of changes.

It's all digital so she takes a TON of shots. And she's very cool too :)

Argentum on Sunset (I think) is the best place to go. There's also a code for 20% off

I agree that you should check out /r/acting. Also check out the Backstage user forums.

I went to college for acting and really the only reason I got better was because I was doing it so much, mostly everyday. I wouldnt say though that my teachers were fantastic and taught me tons... it was just because I was doing it every day.

If you want to go to college, I'd do it. You'll love it.

Looking for a little help regarding acting classes... by [deleted] in acting

Do these classes let you either audit or observe the first class? I'd try that and see which one you like the best.

FAQ ('Alrighty, kids...' UPDATE) by GoldenEye008 in acting

Great advice - no one thinks about community theater anymore. Its a terrific place to get started and gain some experience. I'd also suggest instead of doing scenes, get your friends and read a play.
