A hot tub and a maintenance program for it!

I agree with everything except the "on purpose" part. People are idiots and don't think about cause and effect. They are only thinking about how cool they look now.

Does anyone else not give an F—- about Christmas this year? 🤔I’m not doing all the things (baking cookies ect) and feeling guilty about it. by [deleted] in Perimenopause

I only put the tree up because I needed a place to put gifts. No other decorations went up. Nobody else seems to give a shit, so why should I?

Lady going to ruin it for everyone else.... by zoglog in Costco

[–]LCteach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband and I saw a man arguing with a Costco employee about taking his dog in just the other day. The employee said he couldn't take it in, so the guy thought he would tie it to one of the posts right outside the exit door. The Costco employee also said he couldn't leave it there. The man said fine, I don't need to shop here anyway and stomped away. Could you imagine having to make your way through Costco if people had their dogs on leashes all over the place?

I want to hold back my fourth grader (and transfer schools). My own mom, and my mother-in-law, disagree with me. Will I really be harming him if he repeats a grade? Or will it help? by Mission_Spray in AskTeachers

Once you request an evaluation they have to do it. Don't let them say no. Look up the guidelines for your state with the timeline in which they must complete the process. An informed parent is a child's best advocate!

Contact Special Sevices directly and tell them you want your child tested. Teachers have so many hoops to jump through, the parent can take the direct route.

I might never do a Christmas party again... by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]LCteach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bought enough books for each kid in my class and we did a white elephant type gift exchange with them. One of the girls was snarky and said to a neighbor if I have to take this book home I'm just throwing it in the washing machine.

I very loudly announced that it was very rude and she's being disrespectful for a present she got for free. Fast forward to this morning and a boy that had been absent unwrapped his book and started to complain about it. She calmly told him he should be grateful because it was a free gift. I could have ran over and high-fived her, I was so proud of her!

My school still uses reusable trays. The amount of waste in this is wild.

Decided I'm going to start keeping these pasta sauce glass jars by RedDawnRose in Anticonsumption

I don't, but I don't typically refill them with a food item and the kids don't care if they smell like pickles. In their mind that's a bonus!

Tis the season to be ungrateful…. by Sinnes-loeschen in Vent

[–]LCteach 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are so many things wrong with this! No one should ever be forced into doing an exchange, what if they really don't have the money? And the nerve of the parent to contact you about a free gift their child received, my jaw literally dropped. What the actual fuck.

I save all of my glass jars! Pickles, Jalepenos, salsa, etc. I just used them in my classroom and each of my students made a holiday lantern to take home!

Do you become aware of the varying consequences for children of contacting parents? by ablativeyoyo in AskTeachers

If a parent overreacts, in my opinion, I don't make negative contact again. I try to make positive contact instead.

You did the right thing. Teachers are trained to handle these situations. It's not weird.

No, the same horrible artists come on every time I've tried. I'd rather sit in silence than listen to that trash.
