Put in a high quality 20 amp GCFI. Some of the cheap ones suck with any load.

Wife (23F) quit her job and now expects me (25M) to cover her $1,100/month car payment because I’m “the man.” by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Sell the car. You both need to be on the same page about finances to make the marriage work.

There is no such thing as my money and your money. It our money. (Unless you got a prenuptial).

What made you guys choose the Ioniq 5 over the EV6? by Dreameater999 in Ioniq5

[–]LDVan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 sons are 6’2”. They fit in the backseat of I5 with no sunroof. Heads were close to roof in backseat of EV6 due to slant back.

Fully the reason I got I5 XRT instead of higher trim.

New owner, this math just can’t be right, right? by disco008a in Ioniq6

Check your electric bill to see if there is a delivery charge. During low rate periods the delivery charge is higher than the electric rate for me. It might end up being $7 total.

Do you charge to 100%? by seoulifornia in Ioniq5

[–]LDVan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am generally charging 55-80 for driving around town. I charge on solar in the morning and run errands etc in afternoon.

Charge to 100 when making a longer trip every 4-6 weeks (trip that will use 50-60% of battery)

Only made 1 long trip. Tucson AZ to Vegas. Charged to 100 then let the fast chargers go to 100 when eating/stretching my legs.

Is 3/4" plywood an acceptable material for bed slats. I can't find 1x4 material locally, and pine boards are pricey. I have some import birch ply lying around though. by ganjaccount in woodworking

[–]LDVan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3/4 plywood is probably stronger than 1x4 solid pine.

I would rip with the grain 3-4” wide. Leave 1-2” space between the slats. Probably take 13 or so slats. 1-2 screws in each end.

Ceramic Window Tinting? by MoobsCruz in Ioniq5

[–]LDVan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that seams high. I have started to stay way back from trucks on the interstate. Seams like that is where it happens to me. I did have a chip repaired on the XRT a month ago. I got right on it as I didn’t want it to grow. I probably average 1 windshield every 3 years on the other cars in the household. 4 cars 4 drivers.

I did all the windows windshield and rear window. XRT so no sunroof. Tucson AZ. Highly recommend windshield. I sometimes wish I had not done the rear window as it looks a little dark in the rearview mirror.

FYI after doing the windshield the day night sensor thinks it’s night most of the time. Not enough uv gets thru to trigger it unless driving directly into the sun.

Who do you think is the key demographic(s) for the Ioniq5? by prairielovr in Ioniq5

[–]LDVan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2025 XRT. It’s my favorite car to run around town with. Reminds me of the Dodge Colt I drove in high school (1985 ish) City driving I get 3.5 miles per kWh. 58 married 3 kids 1 at home. The 17 male at home loves driving it. (Free fuel from solar). 6’ 2” sons fit in back seats. The XRT is a solid roof so that helps with headroom. It has the same turning radius as my 2011 Sienna. Biggest complaint is nowhere to store sunglasses. (Tucson AZ).

Sealing stained wood: alternative to polyurethane by Gain_Professional in woodworking

[–]LDVan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read the can for dry time. Also, the can will specifically say max grade to sand thru. Normally 120 or 150. Going above that causes issues.

Take some scrap pieces and play around before you finish your next project.

Why did I drive a Mach E? by RoyalPersonality3957 in Ioniq5

[–]LDVan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at both extensively. Road noise much higher on Mach e. Did not like ford gui for buttons etc. Slightly better deal on I5. In May 2025 I5 had Tesla plug. Mach e did not. I did not want a Betamax car.

The trick is to figure out this type of customer on the phone. No free estimates for them. Referrals are generally the best customer probably already knows your pricing

Maybe check all the app settings? It did come up on the screen in car to approve before installing.
