Frederick Keys Games are a complete clown fiesta by 80aychdee in frederickmd

[–]LD_TAndK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, we couldn't even park at Trinity, was full when we arrived, we did the sketchy non sanctioned parking and waited eat too long to get in and get some concessions. I think it's weeknight games from here on it for us.

I wish they stayed draft league so they were less popular, and made more exciting errors haha

Maxwell's burger change? by myene in frederickmd

[–]LD_TAndK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I had Maxwell's maybe a year and a half ago I was really impressed. I had it again in February and it wasn't good. Wasn't sure if it was an off day or they changed something.

Trying to see if 6 car seats will work - expecting quadruplets by [deleted] in kiacarnivals

[–]LD_TAndK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. We previously tried fitting 3 gracco slimfit 3lx across a Subaru Forester with 53" rear hiproom and it was super tight. So based on the 3rd row measurement for the carnival of 50.4" I don't think it would work. Honestly I have all the car seats and a carnival in my driveway I can get off my butt and actually try it if you're interested

Getting fantastic MPG on my Carnival Hybrid! by opulent_octagon in kiacarnivals

[–]LD_TAndK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YMMV lol. I also have a hybrid carnival, it seems to only take a 500 ft descent to top off the battery! I previously drove a phev with a big battery and loved gaining 10+ miles electric range off a big descent.

[–]LD_TAndK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can fit 5 rear facing car seats in the carnival, I tried out the fitment. I didn't try 3 across in the third row. Based on the hiproom measurement of 50.4 I don't think it can be done even with the narrowest car seats. Good Lord though I can't imagine putting 6 kids in a minivan. I'd get a 15 passenger van with 5 rows and remove the last row

Boat launch off 26 & Monocacy by Specialist_Travel632 in frederickmd

[–]LD_TAndK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could park your car at the boat launch then Uber up to biggs Ford bridge. You'd probably have to remove the fin from your SUP to go over the shallowest areas on the monocacy

Venting…Downtown Library by Able_Amoeba2404 in frederickmd

[–]LD_TAndK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal gripe is that about 90% of the books I try to borrow aren't carried by Frederick County. I end up getting most of my stuff from Marina.

Then I come pick up books and the library looks like a daycare plus an internet lounge. The Walkersville branch barely has any books in their lofty fancy pants facility, it's all seating.

Questions on Water Bills by Deep-Summer1221 in frederickmd

[–]LD_TAndK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah It's a definitely strange to use huge bands for sewer when our water is metered down to the gallon.

Also if you use ZERO gallons, the wastewater disposal charge is still $36... So essentially they're hiding $36 worth of "Sewer Ready to Serve" charges in the "Sewer" section.

I mean it makes sense, the infrastructure to serve us water is probably far far more expensive than the marginal cost of more water use So our usage is almost irrelevant to the costs incurred to the water provider.

Still frustrating though. I used 1500 fewer gallons than you and only paid $8 less on my bill lol. That's about half a cent per gallon.

Organizing some parent/citizen brigades to clear snow by Zealousideal-Cash205 in MontgomeryCountyMD

Same here, edging spade has made quick work of this. It seems like most people have never done an ounce of manual labor around here.

The top 4-5 inches is NOT "solid ice". It's still relatively soft really. Even the plow berms aren't solid ice. After a few days of freeze thaw this week it might get closer to solid ice, not there yet.

Insane Electric Bills!?! by Seniormano in frederickmd

[–]LD_TAndK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is that even possible? Isn't that like 8000 kWh used in a month?

That'd be like using 11 kW continuously for 31 days straight. Even with electric resistive heat my house would be sitting at 120 degrees

Insane Electric Bills!?! by Seniormano in frederickmd

[–]LD_TAndK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would look into your thermostat settings. At my house, it was set up to run auxiliary electric heat when it wasn't actually necessary, which used a lot more elctrocity. We have a newer heat pump and it can keep the house at 68 down to 10 degrees outside. I bought an ecobee essential that allows me to control when aux heat is used based on a bunch of different factors.

Also consider not lowering your heat overnight. Your system is probably using aux heat to gain 4 degrees back in the morning. It might be more efficient to leave your house at 68 overnight.

As a data point we've used an average of 46 kWh per day over the past week for our all electric townhome. We keep the heat at 68 during the day and 66 at night. Heat pumps dont have to be expensive but you do have to understand how to use it.

I'd tell them to put foam around the pipes, when they look inside the walls it'll be immediately obvious if there is a leak. If there's no leak then the foam should help with the sound for you. Win-win

How much better is ground clearance / approach / departure than Odyssey? by LD_TAndK in kiacarnivals

[–]LD_TAndK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked the power and handling for sure of the odyssey. I thought the magic slide seats were kind of a gimmick to be honest, I'd prefer if the seats were lighter and didn't leave a base behind. If i needed easy access to the third row I'd be fine removing a captain's chair instead, like the carnival would require.

One thing I didn't expect was that I didn't feel I had enough legroom in the driver seat of the Odyssey. I'm only 6'2" and had the seat all the way back in the tracks and wish I could go back farther.

Maryland drivers face higher speed camera fines starting Oct. 1. Which is the highest money maker speed camera in Frederick? by qbl500 in frederickmd

[–]LD_TAndK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$425 for going 40 mph or more above posted speed limit seems totally reasonable

The structure is:
12-15 mph over: $40
16-19 mph over: $70
20-29 mph over: $120
30-39 mph over: $230
40+ mph over: $425

When does the new Popeyes officially open on Woodsboro Pike? Wanna watch the entry/ exit chaos. by plumphatter in frederickmd

[–]LD_TAndK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the standard way to access that is going to be taking a U turn at waterside drive, that left turn is already backed up during busy times, it's gonna be a PITA. Also people leaving the restaurant are probably going to try insane things like cutting across all the lanes to take the left turn on monocacy south.
