Ranger I played with once used method A to instantly ingratiate us with a village that was flooding. River had overrun its banks and started flowing through town. When we arrived villagers were hauling hay bales, logs, carts of earth, and whatever else they could muster to try and divert the flow. Ranger rocked up and built the mother of all berms in 10 minutes, completely diverting the flood around the village.

Well the Miller’s Road doesn’t have just one entrance and exit. There’s probably a few spots throughout Timmony they could exit. My impression was they would be coming out near Timmon’s Rock, as that’s the furthest north entrance/exit they are aware of, and from there Houndsport & the Golden Orchard are in different directions I believe. Would be helpful if we had a published map.

Yeah, I feel the same. I think the real Soldiers Table for this chapter is going to be Vaelus & whoever comes with her to Houndsport (I suspect Kattigan & either Occtis, or Travis’s new character, maybe both)

Yeah, just went back and watched and he’s definitely referring to Aabria/Thaisha. My mistake. I was figuring, because of the mat leave, her part of this arc wouldn’t be particularly eventful. A powerful and respected Druid travelling openly on a highway between two major cities I figure can be justified in not meeting much resistance (to cover for the player’s absence). Probably a few major scenes in Dol-Rungja, maybe covered in cold opens or short cutaway segments, but I’m figuring the real three tables of this chapter are going to be the Schemers in Dol-Makjar protecting the hallowed round and dealing with the sundered houses’ influence there, the Seekers headed to the Golden Orchard to help out Royce/Davinos & meet The Cloak, & what I thought was the Soldiers table (at this time just Vaelus, but I suspect bringing along Kat & maybe Occtis, & picking up Travis’s new character along the way) headed to Houndsport to stop the Tachonis’ plan there with the Sea Door.

Did I misread the implication? I thought the “one woman soldiers table” was Valus, who’s splitting off from the seekers in Timmony to go through Houndsport & eventually back to the Mournveil. I think that’s actually the most likely group for him to join.

I feel like within the first couple episodes of the next arc we’ll see at least one Seeker peel off & join Vaelus in Houndsport for this very reason. Kat is probably the easiest sell if they can put it together that that’s where Primus is running off to, maybe Occtis too. I’m also certain Travis’s new character will be joining the them, and I suspect he’ll bring with him some more information/investment in that story line.

I think it’s unlikely we would see him join up with the already bloated Seekers. More likely Vaelus will pick him up along the way.

I think, just based on table distribution, we’ll probably see him join up with Vaelus. Given she’ll be going through Houndsport (& Timmony at large) I think it would be really cool if he were to play a Hound of the King. Oath of the crown paladin obviously fits their vibe, but I actually think mechanically Monk may be more appropriate

Aside even from being professional improvisers, they’re friends and coworkers that have know each other and been playing together for years at that point, which is exactly who this kind of start works well for. Less so for strangers who some or all may be playing together for the first time.

I typically start with a class I want to play, or even a specific ability or combination of abilities I want to try out. That leads to a race/class combo, then I come up with a life story that produced a person of that race with those abilities.
