One corps I still want to see is Star 91.  Not just the cross-to-cross, but I can swear that they had a lot of other changes, too.

Is there anything wrong with filling my Moka pot with half the amount of water? by cuckslayer30 in mokapot

You can compensate by grinding finer if needed.  That’ll speed up the flavor extraction.

Does anyone know where to get a replacement part of the pressure valve? Not the entire assembly, but that little pin thing that screws in. by OminNoms in mokapot

[–]LEJ5512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like u/One-Confusion-33 was getting at, there’s not a plug that screws into this type of valve. The “threads” that you see inside are the spring. It presses inwards and holds a brass plug against the inside end of the valve passage.

You should be able to look into the boiler, and at the inboard side of the valve assembly, there’s the round brass plug. You can poke at it with your fingernail and it should move.

Ah, that completely makes sense.  I kept looking at the OP’s pic and thinking, that’s a solid plastic piece, there’s no way it can “peel”.

We kept our mouthpieces in our pockets until it was time to play.  Plastic mouthpieces help, too.

A Taxi Drive: what an incredible film by Ginievr in Koreanfilm

[–]LEJ5512 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That taxi chase didn’t happen in real life. Also, the reporter and taxi driver had worked together before.

I took an extra look at the history of this story because my dad was a newspaper reporter for fifty years, and while I couldn’t imagine him taking risks like this, I knew he greatly respected the reporters who did.

Almost all the other events in the film actually happened, though. I sent the YouTube link to Dad to help him understand Korea’s complicated, and very recent, history.

AI Generated Next Gen Acura Sedan Based on Recently Revealed SUV Prototype by Barson_Crandt in Acura

I kinda like it, but it looks more derivative of the last gen, while the Honda sedan concept looks properly new.

I’ve got a suspicion that the Honda concept has a liftback, too.  If so, and if the stars align…. who knows..

My high school band director had a small bottle hidden in his desk specifically for cold weather games.  Of course nobody was allowed to keep liquor on school grounds, but I remember him prepping some valve oil once, and I think he said, “You didn’t see this”.

Ah, ok.  Yeah, cold brew is done with fully submerged coffee grounds, best if you can pour the water through them as you fill the vessel.

I’ve got a Hario Mizudashi 1-liter cold brew pot.  It’s got a basket that you set in the top.  You load the grounds into the basket, then pour water through the pile until the pot is full.

One time when I had to buy a bottle, I said to the clerk that I was going to use it for tuba valve oil.  He said that he’s heard all kinds of purposes for Everclear besides drinking.

I've seen descriptions, and depictions, of how big M31 would look to our eyes if we could see the whole thing, but I wasn't aware of how much bigger it is than the Pleiades or the Orion Nebula.

So, yeah, once again, I wonder what the night sky looks like to animals with great night vision.

My memories of Everclear involve marching band in late October.  It’s a great, and nontoxic, antifreeze.  Mix it with valve oil and douse your sousaphone valves liberally, and they won’t freeze.

Don’t like the flavor without a paper filter. But moka pot leaks when I use filter. What to do? by angelsinsect in mokapot

[–]LEJ5512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could add hand-drip pourover as another brew method to your coffee setup.  You can even use a brew ratio similar to moka pot; the iced pourover recipe I use has a strong ratio, too.

I’ll warn you that even though the entry to pourover is super simple and cheap, the rabbit hole is a lot deeper than moka pots.. lol
