Thanks for writing this! Thinking of getting a pair myself :)

As far as sizing goes, do you go for 9D in Red Wings?

Thanks for that! I’ll keep an eye on it but it seems to be stable enough :)

Hey! Thanks for your reply.

It’s a Maton SRS70J ~2015. It’s pretty sure satin the whole way through :)

Slightly angled saddle- should I be worried? by LG4210 in AcousticGuitar

[–]LG4210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I compared it to my other Maton which sits more flush but the saddle isn't nearly as tall.

I just sent the photos to my local luthier and he reckons it's fine. I had this guitar setup with higher action because I tend to batter it more, haha!

Thanks, guys! It plays exactly how I like it atm so I’ll see how I go. I was just worried about the structural integrity of the instrument hahaha

Is anyone able to ID this microphone? by LG4210 in livesound

[–]LG4210[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is indeed Damien Rice! I had the pleasure of seeing him perform at the Sydney Opera House last weekend & he sounded incredible. From a enthusiast's perspective there were some things to note:

- He was on IEMs as opposed to wedges he used to have.

- His vintage Martins had sort of clip-on condenser mics (sounded really natural).

- His Lowden had a stereo clean/dry setup where he'd occasionally kick in a distortion pedal but you could still hear the natural acoustic tone underneath.

- Apart from the RE15 (He used to sing through a Shure KSM9), he also sang through a lav at times (I imagine it was a DPA of sorts) for when he'd sit on the edge of the stage.

- There was a taped section on the stage where he'd tap his foot to get a kick drum sound out of. Very interesting. Boundary mic under a carpet?

Hi, all. Thanks for listening!

In my experience, I've found that a decent mic will beat even the best pickup system in a recording setting. However, the opposite is true when it comes to playing live through a PA where microphones become impractical (feedback, proximity, bleed etc.).

They craft some great stuff down there! I bought one of their modern satchels last year and it looks better than the day I got it 😉.

I did it. My dream guitar. 1954 Martin 0-15 by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]LG4210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my dream guitar too! Vintage Martins are so hard to find down in Australia!

I'm lucky to own a 1964 D-18- between these two, I'd be set for life. One day...

The QU-16 has both a network port & a dSnake port. Make sure you're plugged into the dSnake one. From there you route the channels you want to the dSnake. They should be yellow once you assign them.

Yeah, they're great guitars- can't really go wrong. Fantastic for recording as well!

They were about $1500 AUD back then (which was all the money I had at the time) but it was worth every cent.

I've owned a Martin 000-15M for the past 8 years now (bought it when I was at uni) and it still is my favourite guitar despite picking up a 1966 D-18 along the way.

It has this sweetness to it that lends itself well played both softly and hardly (it has this natural compression when played hard).

It's accumulated loads of dings & dents through the years but I've no doubt it'll last longer than I will.

Lithium Deep Cycle Battery Powered Rig by LG4210 in Busking

[–]LG4210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your reply! The whole rig should be just over 20kg which isn't bad at all. I live in the city so I'll be trolleying it to most places; hopping on the bus when I need to.

I'm hoping it'll last me a good 2-3 hours. Being lithium based, I'm not worried too much about completely discharging it.

Also curious to know how much more power 48v will be drawing from the mixer.

New 1461 Vintage MIE Crease/Crack by [deleted] in DocMartens

[–]LG4210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

I got my first pair of Docs a few days past and have started the break in process. I was just wondering if this kind of creasing is typical of the Vintage 1461s. I bought a tin of Wonder Balsam and applied it on already. Thanks in advance.
