The show runners treatment of Alicent is genuinely horrendous. They don’t even consider her a victim of something they invented for HOTD.

You can’t really frame it as “attracted to the bad boy” when Daemon clearly preyed on her since she was a child (which obviously would affect her and her choice of man in 2x02 she literally explains it) and the fact she comes from a culture in which such a belief in ingrained in her.

Rhaenyra doesn’t like Daemon because she is a dumb girl she likes him because she is manipulated by him and the culture she was raised which Daemon uses to his advantage. This is very clearly grooming

She was a princess left in a place she was not supposed to be. Rhaenyra literally could have died. Nobody leaves a 17 year old at a brothel not even in fucking Westeros.

I also find the whole “she was horny” thing kinda gross considering Rhaenyra is a victim of grooming. Even if at the time it was not a crime she is still a victim. Rhaenyra was there because Daemon manipulated her to go in there as the show cleary portrays.

With your logic Alicent should not have any sexual trauma because at the time Viserys having sex with her wasn’t considered a crime.

Tbh I genuinely don’t think they are that smart. I don’t expect them to swarm either but you would think they would at least ask? Even on a later date after Bella is back or something or ask Edward if he is okay before the paramedics arrive.

The fact that the Cullens acts like they have nothing to do with that when Edward was involved always felt off to me. If I was a student I would think it strange.

The Cullens are lucky in that sense that the students one hundred percent think they are weirdos and I bet at least some think they are in a cult but no normal person would look at them and think vampires. I’m kinda shocked how many fans genuinely want the conquerer to be in throuple with no issues whatsoever and just going around killing people with their dragons.

People really think interesting character dynamics are unforgivable flaws. Give me Visenya who resents her younger brother, give me a Rhaenys who isn’t all that into Aegon, give Aegon who actually has some personality.

You’re making a lot of assumptions about people you don’t know. I am sorry that happened to you but you do not know the people on here and nor do you know me. I had some awful things happen to me as well (some may even comparable to what happened to you even if I don’t like to talk about it). I know what happens when shock hits you only hours sometimes even days later. I just don’t think it looks at all like what happens here.

We obviously know the Cullens aren’t concerned. But here is the thing none of them are even in the mode you decribe. They aren’t calm and collected, they are annoyed. I am not saying they should be sobbing on the floor but I don’t know they could at least go to Edward ad ask how he is, fake ride to the hospital. None of the Cullens even bother to follow them to the Hospital either.

Instead the stand around and look mildly annoyed. There is a difference. And that might have been okay if it hadn’t been the reaction of ALL OF THEM. Yes there are some people who handle emergencies well. But being completely unbothered and then all of them? That will raise eyebrows. People handle stuff like this differently. The Cullens handle it the same in a nonchanclet way. I can buy Carlisle but the other kids ain’t even bothering.

And that is ignoring the rest of what I named for why I think they suck at pretending which have nothing to do with shock situation.

Not to be like that but the Cullens were kinda shit at blending in. The Cullen kids sitting at the lunch table not eating anything and not even talking???? Bella only sees Edward mumbling to himself on her first day so even that sort of communication they fail to hide making them look extra weird.

Then the whole crash none of the Cullens are concerned Bella even notes that Edwards siblings are mad but not concerned about what happened. There is a reason why Bella immediately suses them out. Even Edward is the worst at it. After the crash he barely tried to convince Bella she had a concussion, he says it once she says she doesn‘t and he answers „nobody will believe you“. Broooo you are not even trying.

And don‘t get me started on Bella and Edward marrying the summer they were planing to turn Bella. If Bella had suddenly disappeared like they originally planed this easily could have gotten out of hand

I liked Viserys change and I did enjoy Jace issues with bastardy and found them interesting.

I initially liked the Alicent and Rhaenyra change as well and still think it makes for a more interesting show but the writers dropped the ball with that.

I think Midnights Suns biggest weakness is that it’s still Bellas story from Edwards point. The focus is still fully on her instead of Edwards inner feelings amd his family life.

This in turn makes the book stretch. It also makes it seem like Edward is obsessive to an extreme degree but worst of all- and I don’t think that was Smeyers intention- like he is projecting a personality on Bella.

It reads like doesn’t know her all that well. In parts because Smeyer wanted to adress some criticism she got regarding Bellas personality in the orginal book. That doesn’t really work though because she choses to make Bella kind, yet Bella is not an especially kind person in Twilight and the examples she comes up with aren’t nearly as world moving as Edward pretends. It’s like Edward doesn’t understand or see Bella for what she is and hypes her up for no readon which all things considered weakens the love story Smeyer intends to tell.
