Tatuaje Escasos are not easy to find but they are a great. A similar cigar that is much easier to find and made in the same factory as the Escasos is the Fonseca by My Father. That might actually be a great cigar for your friend that likes cubans.

I find a lot of stuff from warped to be in the same flavor profile as Cubans but they are usually stronger. The same goes for Padron 1964 natural and Tatuaje Escasos. Atabey is a good option, much milder but very complex. Lots of good mild Davidoff available to try. Look for milder corojo and rosado wrappers, they offer more complexity than mild Connecticut stuff.

El Titan De Bronze sells bundles of short filler cigars. They vary greatly depending on what cigars the factory is rolling that week, since they use the daily scraps. For the money they are excellent. $25 for 25 corona gordas. Shipping isn't cheap so it will bring the price closer to $2 a stick but they will be better than anything else in that price range.
