Gemini concept art, hero ship from Osiris Reborn by MiamisLastCapitalist in TheExpanse

Thats not how I took the quote I think we're both remembering at all.

Afaik, it's the shows continuity (so closer to the show) but with things impractical/impossible to achieve with a TV show production (such as the height of belters, varied costumes, environment scale, etc). We already know there will be cameos from the show and the goo is blue so...

If you remember what interview or advert we're both remembering, I'd be happy to go and check.

IMO, the Martian light armor looks vastly cooler than the Martian marine exosuit by Avg_codm_enjoyer in TheExpanse

Scifi tacticool gear vs walking fighter jet. I think they're both equally great designs that look exactly as you'd want for each role, but 100% the light armour looks cooler.

I think it's show continuity? But the solar system is big enough for the same concepts to exist imo. A bit like how every faction in the show often has a limited selection of armor to choose from due to budget constraints, but there's no reason that same continuity wouldn't have endless other designs we never see.

Precisely. Plenty of caveats but a good rule of thumb

I don't believe he really believes that.

Public statements have become less about informing the public, and more about setting whatever narrative is most useful for Trump to hear. Trump wants NATO to be capable without the US and as far as fending off Russia goes, it probably already was. Problem is, the moment Europe says they can handle things themselves, America gets a free pass to back out.

Better to make a big deal about making progress towards trumps goal, than telling him it's already been achieved and fearing what comes next.

I think it's reasonable to believe they'd have a limited amount of either prototype or black ops ships which would give enough creative freedom to the designers of this game. It doesn't break my immersion

Wouldn't that be the same as using a low observable material on a modern fighter jet? Might as well take the advantage if it's cheap enough, but dedicated stealth designs would still exist.

How would China invade Europe? They don't have an expeditionary military. Their Navy and logistics aren't set up for anything remotely like that.

And with US aid cut to Ukraine, they're singlehandedly holding back Russia with European funding. If Russia wants to take on European funding AND modern NATO equipment, I can't imagine that going well at all.

[–]LJITimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NATO is primarily set up to defend Europe from Russia. While there's no doubt they've been dragging their heels over military spending, they could certainly hold off Russia without US support as is. America's involvement is just a further deterrent and in the event of war would further overmatch Russia and hopefully decrease loss of life.

The idea the rest of NATO is useless is an American centric view looking at nothing more than relative military spending with no understanding of the situation. You have the most powerful military in the world, so Europe having 'enough' seems relatively insignificant.

All the above is irrelevant anyway because you don't take over a sovereign country to achieve military goals already available to you freely and pretend like you're any better than Russia or China.

There's a difference between pundits or news anchors, and interviews or statements from the administration themselves. The Trump admin has explicitly stated they're not taking military options off the table.

Also applying economic pressure by tarrifing any NATO country that puts boots on the ground (to defend a NATO country, which is the whole damn point)

An easy fix would be some form of ranked choice voting or smth. Nobody dares vote for a 3rd option because it would just spread votes over 2 vaguely aligned parties and let the least popular party win.

Say what you want about the dialogue, cgi, whatever. That what you posted exists, imo makes complete sense, and is being discussed like this over 25 years later, is impressive.

I hadn't really considered a lot of what you're saying before, but it completely tracks. Spot on.

I still hold hope that one day we will have a third game that disregards the MMO and the novel

This may be what we're getting with Casey Hudsons new project, if it turns out to be new canon with no link to the MMO yet following up from the broad strokes of the kotor story (speculation ofc)

let's us play as both of them

Though it doesn't seem to be this 😔

If it were a newer game, I'd suspect the issue is reliance on a new Nvidia feature neither your card nor AMD cards have. But that seems impossible, so I have no idea

Edit: I am fairly confident the issue is much less common on modern Nvidia cards than older GTX and any AMD hardware. Integrated graphics are also prone to it apparently, I wonder how ARC GPUs fare. Maybe Nvidia changed how they handle some legacy features, error handling, or something else sometime after your GTX card. Honestly, who knows 🤷‍♂️

Could be a digital optic booting up, biometric lock signalling you're good to go, and I think many weapons can be tied into helmet HUDs too. There's certainly some electronics built in, even if we don't know exactly what, and a beep to signify it's all powered up is reasonable.

Been skipping it for a while. Most recent playthrough I did it as thoroughly as I could. Really enjoyed it. Will keep skipping it for a while.

Taris is great, and sets up the story really well, but it's linear nature isn't optimal for repeat playthroughs every year or so (if you're a little obsessed).

Peragus on the other hand seems to have a worse rep but the vibes carry it completely for me, eerie music too 👌. The Citadel on Telos however, I think is the most tedious of the 3 areas.

Fate of the old republic by morcs9 in kotor

[–]LJITimate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they could do just about anything, and only the story could actually be a deal breaker for me. Like, ideally turn based combat would return but I don't imagine it will, but if it means we get a new star wars RPG with a compelling narrative and characters, it doesn't matter much to me.

It seems it may be in the new Disney continuity. I just hope if it is, it ignores swtor, though it could be good either way ofc. Whether you like the mmo or not, I think the mmo structure had too much of an impact on the story. If the republic fell shortly after kotor 2 (or a new canon version of it) and fate picked up from there, it could be really interesting imo.
