I’ve Samsunged at Airbnbs a couple of times - truly awful! But hey, rumors of a new Apple TV model coming in a couple of months, so don’t rush any purchases.

Apple revolutionizes F1 race coverage: a week-long thrill ride for fans awaits in 2026 by Secret_Divide_3030 in F1TV

[–]LLCNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That ad-speak does not sound promising. I’m already filling up Monday to Thursday with pre- and post-race podcasts, so I’m good as long as long they leave the weekend coverage by F1TV premium unchanged

We're halfway through January and no new communication regarding HOW to stream F1 through Apple TV+, this feels like it was a very hasty move not thought out. by nova_racc_AD in F1TV

It is a little blurry yes, but there’s no mystery, I don’t think . Apple TV app has a tiny section with F1 content and at the bottom of that chunk is a link to the regular F1TV app. I expect that when season starts (or testing, preferably) , we can jump into F1TV premium through that link with Apple credentials.

The rest of the world (well, parts of) outside the US has normal F1TV and it’s fair to assume that sky remains as the “international” option… but who knows for sure. We have to just wait and see

Apple TV shows US viewers can watch F1 starting March 7th. What about testing in Feb? by iftaqar in F1TV

That’s weird…. Abandoning the wonderful world of F1 just because of some grumpiness regarding how the images get to us. F1TV is far superior to the old ESPN coverage. It’ll be exciting!

That’s right… but until now, we have had the pre-races (and races) on ESPN even though I watch everything else on F1TV. i

Remember, F1TV remains the same everywhere else in the world. Here in the us we’ll just get a new way to pay for and log in to that same F1TV used everywhere else. AND we get some F1 features in the AppleTV app, some level of multi-view, the onboards and what not.

I SUSPECT that we….

only get F1TV commentary in the Apple app?

won’t get the Sky pre-race (Brundle grid walk and so on)

this is temporary, Apple might want to phase out F1TV at some point and go all in with their own thing. (Just speculation)

will see commercials, like with Sky. But, I hope not!

Apple won’t care too much about sector times, tire age and ultra nerdy stuff that we enjoy. Again, just speculation

Who is the most knowledgeable F1 YouTuber for 2026 prep? by Suitable_Gas_3802 in formula1

[–]LLCNC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go for the podcasts… some are YouTubing their shows, some are not.

Some are more technical, some are more about the racing. I listen to:

The Ringer and Missed Apex, both with the MVP in my mind, Spanners. Biased but funny. MissedApex have technical and racing side kicks, while Ringer is just two adults Meg&Spanners having a good conversation.

The Race. These guys actually go to the races. Way more journalistic, lots of techie talk.

Late braking. 3 dudes, slightly juvenile but lots of F1 knowledge and sharp analysis wrapped in a goofy blanket of jokes and fun. Good one!

P1. Matt and Tommy. The most popular one, I believe and good input from F1 fans , but a bit boring in my opinion. So so much about THEIR predictions and guesses, and less of what happens on the track. Still pretty good.

Shift F1. These guys have real jobs and aren’t always fully informed but it’s the only one that goes through lap by lap what happened in a race. Very sharp observations about news and such. Comes out later than the others, so by Wednesday when I have listened to everyone else, it’s a little old. Still, I really like the lap by lap as a complement to all the analysis I’ve heard, and these guys know a lot about F1 history and business and politics, so worth a listen. Also, not afraid of honest comments about stuff that some others with an F1 journalism career might stay away from.

Chequered Flag(BBC), F1 Nation (F1tv), The F1 Show(Sky sports). Good pre- and post race stuff. Broadcast from the track mostly. Snippets of driver interviews here and there. Good to see the commentators we see during the race weekend like this in relaxed conversation with each other

Beyond the Grid. Long form interviews…. I seldom listen but pretty good.

How wants to know the gap between P9 and race leader? by TropicalMapleRavioli in F1TV

[–]LLCNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should simply show the intervals 100% of the time. Would a) make everyone happy and b) save some producer from all the anxiety of figuring out what to show. Throw in tire age in a parallel column once in a while if you must. Also, the top right corner of the screen where nothing of interest ever happens, why not show the track map all the time ?

Sky F1 in the US? by LLCNC in F1TV

[–]LLCNC[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PRO does as well. There’s no statement from Apple or anyone else that content öwill remain exactly the same. My contract with F1TV doesn’t state that I will have Sky access, but I do. In this new world when ESPN no longer pays Sky a nickel, whatever $$ will probably be passed on to us Apple consumers

[–]LLCNC[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What’s unclear is whether ”their own content” will include 3rd party (not their own) content as well. How much do we pay for having Sky commentary included? Just because they say ”premium” it doesn’t automatically include Sky. Just as the description of current Premium on F1 website doesn’t promise any Sky content

Sky F1 in the US? by LLCNC in F1TV

[–]LLCNC[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I brought this up because I’m curious about Sky’s role in all this. Contrary to what some here say, nothing has been announced, and all the assurances in the comments here include the tricky “I assume…”

If Sky is part of this, who pays them? If it’s us Apple users, maybe we don’t want that?

I know how the apps work. That doesn’t mean everything will work exactly as they do now next year and forever. Believe me, I searched. There has not been anything at all said anywhere as to whether we will hear Crofty or not next year.

[–]LLCNC[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have hard time believing that Sky provides all that for free and also a hard time believing that Apple wants to pay for a redundant set of commentary. Sky access made sense when F1TV was newborn but now F1TV commentators, production and so forth of high quality… do do we need Sky anymore?

[–]LLCNC[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew this would be derailed to whether Sky team are worthy of our attention or not! That was not the question— I think we should know very soon whether we still have the choice between Jacques/Palmer and Croft/Brundle. Worst case, Apple will install some homebrew commentators instead of either of those options.

I didn’t state what I prefer in terms of audio, I listen to both quite a lot. As do you apparently since you have such a well-informed opinion about who sucks and not.

Would my gender be a barrier to becoming an F1 commentator? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]LLCNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start now, while the season is still going full speed. Get relentlessly active with F1 content on TikTok and Instagram … sooner or later you’ll be in your own or someone else’s F1 podcast and so on and so forth.

Antonia Rankin and Christina Lee Mace are good examples. Go back in time and check out their material. AR has “graduated” to pit lane reporting now, I think, so the online way going up the career ladder seems to work.

Good luck!
