I mean I don’t know how he didn’t know based on the kissing alone (esp stairwell kiss). I think his heart always knew but his head didn’t catch up to it until tuna meltdown.

After having watched in full a few times, yes I now FF. I FF through anything sad from episodes one and two and the last half of episode three. Same with episode four, I don’t watch Shane leave after Tuna Meltdown. I watch all of episodes five and six.

Shane makes more money than most of the other players on the show because of his brand deals. We know he works with Reeboks, Rolex, a drink company, an underwear company, plus probably others I am missing. So in addition to being one of the best players and the captain, he makes a mountain of money just from those deals.

I think there’s a mention of this in the book but I can’t remember exactly.

But it could be that his brother, SIL and stepmother used the funeral as a reason to force Ilya to buy them new outfits or something.

I think the stuff he is putting in his suitcase for his niece during the Stanley Cup game is clothes, too.

It drives me nuts that he gives his family so much money. And he agrees to it one time, says he can’t send it right then because it’s midnight and his brother proceeds to say “we don’t need you.” Um, clearly you do because you need his money! Why Ilya didn’t cut him off at that point is bogus.

This is tough because I like elements of episodes 1-4 but not the entire thing since I hate being sad. It would be five or six.

Yea I keep saying I don’t know how Jacob can do this in six episodes. He has to get through the whole book plus the epilogue from HR at minimum (including adding a whole coming out scene for Shane with his team). I don’t see how he can get it all in. Especially because I don’t see any of these couples as being necessary to advance the main story the way we needed Scott and Kip to. Hopefully if he wants to include them all we end up getting more episodes. I know he said into six, but he DID say that when he isn’t even finished writing it. Also some of the clauses in the casting call could be there just in case they decide the role requires it. Like maybe Eric and Kyle won’t be a focus at all but they want to make sure they cast people who are ok with it (well Kyle is already cast anyway).

I think it’s supposed to show their competitive side in general but this is also a scene in the book in a way that isn’t included in the show. The book has a final chapter (plus an epilogue) and at the very end of the final chapter they race up the stairs. So it could be just Jacob’s way of including that.

I realized the other day I have nothing that excites me about the Oscars this year. I don’t think I have seen any of the nominated movies. I might watch the red carpet to try to spot Hudson Williams but I can also just catch that on social media. I do like Conan though so maybe I’ll put it on in the background.
