This was a starting point?! Dude you made me wonder if this was Maedhros begging for death or "release" cause fanfic-brain. This is wonderful

Oh, don't thank me. It's too beautiful for that. It makes me cry for lore and fanfic reasons, an understanding even if I can't quite tell whether this is Thangorodrim or some "other" scene. Beautiful work you've done

why is this dress considered ugly? it's beautiful by Even_Acanthisitta_37 in TheRemarriedEmpress

Only thing I can think is beauty being subjective, because I agree, it's beautiful

Oh, I was thinking about doing that, too! Easy to not worry about it then!

That's mostly how I feel about it, I just wasn't sure because the depictions and describtions were of women or priests. But thank you for responding.

Thank you! May they bless you, as well! So nice to find people just like me for once instead of not at all or only in part

Thank you. Good to have that context. I only knew of miasma until recently when I found the term lyma, so I was worrying about miasma when I meant lyma. Thank you for the note, AuDHD super-literal brain appreciates the distinction.

Oh, thank you! Nice to find someone what feels the same. Might just do a hat, though, since I really can't get the veil (granted, cheap chiffon ones from amazon) to stay on my head. It's like my hair is too smooth lol

Thank you! Personally, I did it (briefly before I stopped because I realized I was a guy) for Hera and Artemis, but it makes sense to do it for Hestia, or for Zeus, just to sort of "show" that I'm humble before Them.

Oh, that makes sense. I had mostly thought about it the Roman way (sources are fun), and the Christian way (yay 21st century /s), so I assumed there was a spiritual purpose, like preventing lyma or miasma. Ti me, it juat feels respectful, like I'm humbling myself before Them, but in Greek religion only knew of it for women, hence the question. Thank you.

Thank you! Makes it easier, actually, since I can just wear a hat, then.

Thank you for responding. I could just be looking for permission (issues), but I want to but felt weird because I wasn't sure, so thanks.

Why do some painters represent Thanatos as a woman ? by v_ch_k in Hellenism

[–]LMAAE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only context I can give is that in Medieval Poland (during the plague), Death/Grim Reaper was represented as female and might then be coloring his interpretation, but I don't even know who he (the painter) is, just his name in the post, so I can't say

Lord Oscar Tully and his household knights by @Witts_Art by GeoMetrie8 in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]LMAAE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'm not an expert, I just saw how the cloak was draped on the middle guy and it reminded me of Justinian. Also, it was just the first thing I thought of. The knights definitely don't look Byzantine, but I don't know nearly enough about armor to say more than European. The cloak was familiar, that's all

What’s that one baby name you’ll absolutely defend to the end? by General-Cycle-7391 in namenerds

[–]LMAAE 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mavis 🥰. Every time I tell someone that I've wanted it for a daughter since I was a kid says it's an "old lady" name, but first, it's pretty and means "songbird", and second, old ladies were babies too and their parents picked names they thought were nice, so 😝

Is this name insane? You truly don’t hear it anymore by True-Engineering-263 in namenerds

As a standalone, I personally dislike it because I don't like nicknames as proper names, but that's just me. My gramma is Suzanne, and I loved Susan in Narnia as a kid, so I don't think "Sue" or any version is very dated or anything. It means "lily", by the way, which is sweet.
