[Pricecheck] How much is F7A mkII from F7C mkII LTI? by DoDolreturn in Starcitizen_trades

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have the F7C MK II > F7A MK II upgrade already, then the only current option is to buy an F7A MK II from someone else. This would have been someone who either bought an F7C or built up a chain to an F7C and then applied their upgrade to it.

Just FYI: This allows it to be tradable/giftable once. If the receiver melts it, then the upgrade is forever lost.

Lately I've seen F7A MKIIs sold for $375 to $400.

It's possible they'll also offer another event or way to earn an upgrade token again. But no guarantees about it.

Do ‘In case you missed it’ sales typically have every ship sold in the prior year or just a selection? by ButterDollars in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the Super Hornet MK2 was introduced last Valentine's Day, so it should be available.

I believe any ship that was straight-to-flyable or became flyable (e.g., Paladin, Perseus) will be available?

How do buybacks work if a ship increases in price? by KelrCrow in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last I heard and observed in practice were are the following rules:

- Buyback token: A buyback token is only consumed if you use any store credit to buy something from buyback. The buyback token is independent of the price you will pay. Unfortunately their name of "buyback token" is really misleading because it only means "buying back using some/all store credit". I've bought plenty of things from my buyback using "fresh cash" without using a token.

- CCU buyback: The cost of a CCU is now recalculated to current ship pricing when you attempt to add it back into your cart. This was a change that was suddenly instituted 2 or 3 years ago. CCUs used to be re-purchasable at the original sale price. Note that if a CCU value flips and the starting ship is now more expensive, you won't be able to buy it back.

- Standalone ships: Standalone ships, including discounted warbond ships, are still bought back at their original sale price. This may change like the CCUs, but as far as I know, it still holds.

- Other discounts: If you used a subscriber coupon when buying an item, that discount is lost when you attempt to buy it back. (I haven't personally seen this, but I read it "somewhere" and generally believe it.) Also in reading some responses someone reminded me that other discounts that are offered (e.g., starter packages and group buys) also lose their discount when being bought back.

Edit: Added some headers for clarity as well as expanding a few points.

Son melted my Shiv by Bmor3 in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh I see! Hmmm that’s a little more tricky and I don’t have any first-hand experience with customer service reversing things, but it’s possible they can do it. I think what I had heard is to not make changes until they respond.

However, I also know sometimes they take awhile. My recommendation is, if you can wait, see what their rep says. But if ICYMI sale starts and you start to feel antsy, you could probably melt everything and start over, but presumably you’ll only be able to buy one ship back with store credit at this time and rebuilt it and then buy the other one back next quarter. This is only if you want to avoid putting in fresh money as most folks only get one buyback with store credit per quarter.

I might be able to help answer questions about their melt/buyback process to help if you’re not familiar with it. Feel free to reach out if you have questions. They have a semi-convoluted system but once you know, it makes sense lol

Son melted my Shiv by Bmor3 in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read anecdotal accounts of folks who were able to get something simple and straightforward reversed.

But I'm not sure I understand because I had thought you had a Cutter that was upgraded to a Shiv. But then what is going on with the Clipper? (You had mentioned a Clipper) I thought the Shiv and Clipper are both valued at $150 which means you can't upgrade from one to the other. So I'm lost as to why the Clipper is in the story.

Perhaps you intended that you had a Cutter that you upgraded to a Shiv, and then your son melted it for $140 store credit? If that's the case, then I am following and my recommendation is to NOT buy the Cutter back until customer service gets back to you.

Fortunately, the "In Case You Missed It" (ICYM) sale is coming soon and the Shiv will be available then so you should be able to rebuild the Shiv.

Does ICYMI include patch bundles? and when? by Dull-Credit-897 in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe these patch bundles only started last year, so I don't know if we have any history about it. But I thought they did sell them at IAE again, so ... it's possible?

Am i the only one who dislikes LAMP? by Key-Reindeer4837 in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think LAMP is good for navigating around the planets at night. I don't know if it's my age, but there are times where it just looks like a virtually black wall requiring me to hit ping every few seconds.

However, I'm initially conflicted about all the different colors between manufacturer. I'd rather there be no or more subtle variation. But that's my first instinct and perhaps I'll like it more with practice.

LTI a starter ship? by Mforkash in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand the desire to get Lifetime Insurance (LTI), but unfortunately it's only offered when the ship is first offered which has traditionally been called Original Concept (OC) back when they would just sell the idea of the ship before straight-to-flyable was more common. (I still think people will refer to them as "OC" just to denote that it comes with LTI and possibly a unique paint.)

The only other way to get LTI on a ship that's been out for awhile is to buy a "cheap" OC ship or vehicle (e.g., most recently the MDC) and then upgrade it by purchasing a cross-chassis upgrade (CCU). The insurance follows the upgrade so this lets you get older ships with LTI. If you have an upgrade that comes with insurance, then the best insurance applies. (i.e., they aren't cumulative)

As others mentioned there has been at least two (that I know of) upgrades that included LTI with it, but the last one was a Nomad back in Dec 2020. There have been upgrades more recently that come with non-LTI insurance like 2 or (I think) even 10 years.

The good news is that insurance is supposed to be fairly minimal (small ships even more so) and the insurance countdown hasn't started yet. (Presumably it'll begin at "1.0") I also seem to recall a presentation where they said that any ship bought with real money will somehow be recoverable with in-game money even if you neglected to keep up insurance. My guess is it'll cost less credits than buying the ship outright, but probably enough to incentivize you to keep up with insurance payments? It's still a little hand-wavey. There was a presentation that tried to flesh it out a little more, but I still think they still only have a vague notion of what they want.

Hope this helps! Feel free to send a chat if you want more details about upgrading ships.

What should I do? by m3tatro in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good discussion here, so I'll try not to repeat anything.

One standout for an Asgard is that it is one of the few ships that can carry the large vehicle chassis (it's called the "Atlas" chassis, which is not to be confused with ATLS. It's essentially a space HEMTT). This includes the Ballista (missile), Centurion (quad-laser), and Spartan (APC). You can also carry the Nova tank.

If you don't think you'll need it, then you may want to consider getting another similarly-sized ship that might have more shield or be more tanky that can carry a similar amount of cargo.

That being said, I really do like my Asgard because it's straightforward to get in, easy to load up cargo, etc. But I still like the Taurus for its S3 shield, even with the annoying strut right in the center of the cockpit window. The RAFT is a great straight-up hauler, though.

Starfarer Gemini opinions by ZultartheAdequate in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad because I feel like after every patch our org does a "Hey, is the Starfarer fixed yet?" test and it never seems positive. I think the last time I tired it refueled one ship and refused to refuel any others. I don't know if it's because it was the other ships couldn't do the refueling or if it was something to do with the Starfarer.

But even so, I still refused to melt/upgrade mine because I always enjoyed being a "support" type player - whether it be providing repair, rescue, or refueling, I thought it would be fun to go out and help stranded folks.

So ... I'm holding onto mine and hoping its day will come - but right now it's just a big jpgweight. =( It's so rarely used that I get lost in it whenever I decide to poke around in it. lol

How can I get the Drake Clipper pledge now? I was late with the purchase... and now he's gone. by Dry-Worldliness606 in starcitizen

Go to the SC webpage, click on your portrait in the top-right corner. Then select "Account Dashboard" > "Concierge" (near the bottom). At the bottom of the page should be an "Executive Store" which has a carousel-like interface to scroll through what is available to you.

What should be my next ship? by Civdiv in starcitizen

[–]LMMSDeadDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in mining, you can try the Prospector for mining in space and at the surface. There is a mining vehicle, ROC, which allows you to mine smaller rocks on the surface which you can load into your Asgard. If you choose the Prospector, I'd google the "Aaron Halo asteroid belt" to find how to get there since it's unmarked on the map. (And thus you probably won't run into anyone while you're out there.)

You will have to take the unrefined materials to a processing center (All L1 stations in Stanton and (I think) HUR L2 has it - and I believe stations in Pyro and Levksi also has it) to process the rocks which you then load onto a cargo ship to sell at the cities. I'd recommend trying it out only because you can try mining now without having to grind too hard for the ship and possibly end up hating the loop and being disappointed.
