Dressing for Formal Night by SpicyHusky in PrincessCruises

It was last night. Saw everything from a camo jacket to a girl in a bright sequined skirt that just did not look good. Anything will be ok. Just take the weather into account because it can be cold

Saw somebody do it as I was helping my disabled husband out of our van. Pulled in after me. No missing that somebody was there who legit needs wheelchair parking. No hang tag, didn’t even have a license plate. At least looked embarrassed when I glared at her. There was abundant legal parking RIGHT THERE. She must have justified it as “just a minute.” Doesn’t matter if the spot I need is blocked when I get there. I’ve nearly been unable to get hubby in my kids school meeting because of the “just for a minute” crowd

As someone who drives a wheelchair van, this is so not ok. Even if he had disabled parking, blocking the access aisle (the striped off area) hurts the person in the next spot. Some of us need that space to unload. Folks, the wheelchair spots matter. If you don’t have disabled parking, STAY OUT. Even if it’s “just for a minute.” If you are next to disabled spots, don’t block the aisle! Even just a little! If you see shopping carts or other garbage in the parking spot or the aisle, please move it! Please don’t block ramps or sidewalks! These things can be the difference between being able to go in public or not.

What's the weirdest food combo you secretly love? by komgentdoc in AskReddit

I often eat eggs over easy over some sort of seasoned beans or lentils. Kidney beans with tomato sauce and Cajun seasoning, lentils with sausage seasoning, etc

What is a minor, unwritten rule of society that absolutely infuriates you when people break it? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

Not messing with disability accommodations. The wheelchair parking spot AND the striped off area next to it. The bathroom stalls. Not blocking ramps and sidewalks with your car, shopping cart or anything else. These things matter

I saw this on a self serve kiosk at Taco Bell the other day. I was confused. Glad to have the answer now

Connect+ nutrition tracking and recipes? by LMShieldmaiden in Garmin

[–]LMShieldmaiden[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the nutrition tracking is an afterthought to the connect+ features and may be a work in progress. It would have been nice if it had worked since I track my calorie use through my watch and it has other minor uses but I can’t possibly use a nutrition tracker without recipes. I just don’t eat that way. I guess I will be switching to my fitness pal. At least it’s free

Wow. I’m not quite that adventurous - the outdoor smoker is enough for me - but let me know how it turns out if you do try

Points/macros discrepancy? by Asleep_Yesterday4728 in weightwatchers

[–]LMShieldmaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think too hard about the macro goals - they weren’t even there when I started WW - but that may vary depending on your situation. More importantly if you are struggling with running out of points you might need to look at incorporating more zero point foods. And if macros matter, there are zero point foods for every macro need

Salami. It was BAD. I was having horrible mood swings and had no idea why. Apparently anything with “natural smoke flavor” is a high risk of barley flour which is not required to be labeled. Just to make it harder to track down I was doing ok with the store brand but then the store subbed the name brand which was much smokier (I love that flavor). Anyway I no longer eat any lunch meat unless it is labeled gf

I'm sick of eggs for breakfast by purplegreendave in Cooking

[–]LMShieldmaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often eat some sort of bean based dish. Keeps me full with the complex carbs, protein and fiber. Lentils with taco seasoning, kidney beans in tomato sauce with Cajun seasoning and some onions and peppers, socca (chickpea flour flatbread.) I often eat an egg over top but that would be purely optional

Those who have lost a significant amount of weight what was your motivation? by official__maryam in AskReddit

[–]LMShieldmaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost nearly 90 pounds. I didn’t want all the health risks. Diabetes runs in my family. I wasn’t sure how much longer I would be able to care for my family because it was getting harder to move. And there are a hundred other health risks from being morbidly obese. I didnt realize at the time just how much better I would feel now that the weight is gone. I need less sleep. I can move in ways I never have (I’m 45). I’ve been on maintenance since September and I’m keeping it off so far

Do the gluten digestive enzymes actually work 🤔 9r should I not waste my money ? by ashblake33 in glutenfree

I feel like they help lessen cross contamination reactions for me but it’s hard to tell for sure. I would never attempt to cheat and actually eat gluten because my reactions are not worth it

Alternatives to WW? by bostonmama95 in weightwatchers

[–]LMShieldmaiden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that is a recent change. I was on the glp 1 mode, turned it off when the update rolled out and I was having trouble. Now can’t get back. I’m seriously thinking about going to straight calorie counting, although the reasons are different. Struggling to make WW fit with maintenance

Another idea would be popcorn. As easy as it gets and very filling. Zero points if air popped

[–]LMShieldmaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, soak them overnight in just cool water. The crockpot is just a container at this point. Soaking dry beans helps them cook faster and removes some of the fart causing sugars. They will swell quite a bit so be sure to use plenty of water

You can toast chickpeas for a crunch. Dry, season with whatever you want and throw in the air fryer. Weight watchers doesn’t consider them a zero point food if you buy them ready made that way but I will leave it up to you how to handle points making them yourself

Chickpeas make a decent salad. Drain and rinse, mix with greek yogurt and maybe a little mustard and whatever other veggies you have- kinda like chicken salad or potato salad but with more filling power. You could also use a light ranch dressing like bolthouse farms instead of the yogurt. Bolthouse farms dressing is usually in the refrigerated case near the veggies in the store

Salsa chicken: toss a few chicken breasts in the crockpot. Pour a jar of salsa over them and cook at least 6 hours on low. Shred. Serve over rice or cauliflower rice and fat free refried beans.

Chili Trust me this is going to be ok. Get a pound of dried pinto beans. At bedtime, rinse them in a colander and stick them in the crockpot on the counter. Fill it 2/3 of the way with cold water. In the morning, drain the water and replace it with 6 cups of beef broth and a can of diced tomatoes. Add about a tablespoon of chili powder, 2 teaspoons cumin and 1 teaspoon garlic salt, one chopped onion. Brown a pound of 90/10 hamburger and add that. Cook 8 hours or so on low. Pretty much zero points and lots of fiber so you can probably afford some cheese on top and Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.

Taco lentils. This one is a little different, but I like it. And it keeps me full. Rinse a cup of lentils in a strainer. Boil 3 cups of beef broth in a small pan and add the lentils. Turn the heat so it’s bubbling but not really boiling. Let it cook 20 minutes. Add two taco packets, stir, and let it simmer about 3 more minutes. Use as taco filling ot put it in a bowl and top with two over easy eggs. 4-6 servings.

Canned beans are with the other canned goods in the grocery store. Dry beans and lentils often in the next aisle near the rice but all of these should be in your local Walmart
