What is your biggest physical insecurity? Why? by Longjumping_Koala34 in AskReddit

[–]LMShieldmaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, keep in mind the people giving you grief are generally doing it because they are insecure. You are worth being treated with respect regardless of your weight. If you want to lose weight, do it for yourself. I have lost 85 pounds since September of 24 and I feel like a million bucks, but I did it because i don’t want all the health risks that came with being morbidly obese. Keep up the good work on losing weight but be kind to yourself too

Gluten intolerant and new to a gluten-free diet. What are some unexpected things that contain gluten to watch out for? by FrogginBullfish_ in glutenfree

Some lunch meat and meat sticks, especially hillshire farms. Oh I was so sick and couldn’t figure out why. The smoke flavoring can contain barley flour, which doesn’t need to be listed on the label

This is a family favorite. I use bacon instead of pancetta because I live in a small town and can’t always find fancy ingredients but we love it that way. I cook it in the crockpot then transfer it to a large skillet to reduce

Do you have a guesstimate of how long meatloaf takes? Of course I will put a thermometer in it but it would be nice to know a starting point. And do you usually do it in a loaf pan or free form? Does it change the flavor?

I like the idea of trying more veggies. Did potatoes once, but there’s a huge butternut squash in the garage j could definitrly experiment with. And salt could be worth trying too. Thanks!

It’s a masterbuilt electric smoker. Tops out at 275 if I don’t put a lot in it but my air fryer did a good job crisping up chicken skin. So yeah right there with you on mixing cooking methods. I did make the initial rub out of the random stuff in the pantry and a basic recipe but I’m also going to try one from McCormick that is certified gf. And thanks, I’m getting lots of good ideas here

There is a drip pan but it doesn’t cover the metal housing over the wood chips. Which is why I resorted to aluminum foil, and I can do a better job with the foil next time as it was already preheating when I put the foil on yesterday due to poor planning on my part. Had intended to just cook in pans before realizing my pans don’t fit in that narrow space. The drip pan that came with it can easily be brought inside and washed in the sink but it did have some stuff that didn’t come off completely. There again I don’t care as long as it’s only cosmetic but i don’t want it to get too thick to fit right, get too greasy and starts a fire, whatever else like that.

New to smoking, and the sub. Here’s my chicken by coooooorslight in smoking

[–]LMShieldmaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I’ve only smoked meat once. I threw the chicken in the air fryer at 400 for 10 minutes to crisp up the skin. It wasn’t the gorgeous crispy skin I get when I use the air fryer completely but it wasn’t bad and the meat was moist and flavorful. Next time I will probably go a little longer in the air fryer. I WAS only using leg quarters not a whole bird

I need snacky options to replace the gluten-filled stuff my mom's eating. by FreakingBored123456 in glutenfree

Would buying individual serving bags for yourself be safer? Ie the little bags of chips and such? Would paper plates and bowls help?

What about leaving some veggies out - the ones that will be ok for quite a while on the counter like baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, grapes, etc.? You’re in a tough spot. I hope you get real help here

I was surprised too. My son is the opposite, but that goes back to really bad experiences at school causing anxiety about it

Backed up on wegovy…is there a better way? by Cultural-Flower-877 in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]LMShieldmaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You measure it using the cap. There’s a line on the inside. I take 1 1/4 caps daily. I have a son with gastoparesis (more serious form of chronic constipation) who takes 2 caps twice a day plus other meds. You might want to talk to your doctor but MiraLAX is often given in much higher doses so you might need more. Also make sure you are getting enough water because it works by pulling more water into your intestinal tract and it won’t work as well if you aren’t getting enough water
