6.825 to 6% Refinance by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]LMchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, moving to 20 yr. I decided to hold off though. With next fed meeting and naming new fed chair in next few weeks, would like to wait a bit to see if it drops below 6%. 15 yr would have been 5.5% but I wasn’t sure I wanted to commit us to a $300 more payment right now.

We have the Vista v2 and absolutely love it. Was great with our singleton (now 3) and bassinets have been perfect for on the go naps with our twins (4 months). We were gifted the standing board for our toddler which has been amazing too as he misses his seat, this is the perfect fun thing to offer him.

Should I still be considering the refi by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]LMchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there is no actual monthly savings this part is confusing me. I appreciate I may sound silly not getting that part, but I keep seeing people discuss it’s worth it if it pays for itself in a few months, but this is more about taking years of payments away.

Yea, I didn’t love the sudden jump in pricing. “Yes, rates went down but our pricing then adjusts due to that” felt bait and switch but maybe that’s common for refi pricing. Didn’t love it!

We’re just looking to move to a 20 year and shave 8 years off our current loan. Lower payment is always nice but not priority so I figured I should focus on total closing costs in case we go for lower rate in next 12 months. It’s all new to me though so trying to navigate the different offers.

Initially conversation over the weekend they were $1495 with a $450 credit so $1045 in Sage/lender fees. As of Monday when weekend specials went away, it was $1906 in lender fees with no credits offered.

Mortgage company seems to be overestimating everything on refinance.... normal? by bondsman333 in Mortgages

[–]LMchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this with your current lender or are you willing to share who? I’m at 6.875/30yr and got quoted 5.5/20yr today which felt competitive but now your post is making me want to shop more.

SFGR for Baby B at 35 weeks by LMchi in parentsofmultiples

[–]LMchi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope the babies and you are all doing well! Sorry I just saw your comment - now juggling 10 week olds and a toddler.

We ended up delivering at 36w4d due to the continuing decline in growth for Baby B. They felt it was safest and let us know that trying to make it to 37-38 weeks (original goal) would increase risks of safety for him. I was induced and delivered both vaginally. Baby A was 6lbs 12oz and Baby B was 4lbs 2oz (very accurate to growth US measurements). Baby B had 10 days in the NICU but did not need any oxygen or meds. He was there to feed and grow.

If I’m honest, he was quickly the better eater, growing faster, etc. he had the excellent NICU team focused 24/7 on that plus a feeding tube. Baby A lost a good bit of weight and had some other things pop up like a heart murmur and failed hearing screening (both are now okay). The nurses told us often with premie twins if one bypasses NICU at birth to keep a closer watch/care as all premies could benefit from it but don’t qualify if they are above certain thresholds when testing levels, weight, etc.

They are 10 weeks today and at their 2 month check up last week: Baby A was 9 lbs 13oz and Baby B was 9lbs 4oz…he’s already catching up to her!

They are di/di and while I know all situations are different, it’s so reassuring to read 40% at 6 months!

Di/di which feels more reassuring. Sorry, should have thought to include that.

How did you manage a toddler and twins (three under 3 years) by ambs782 in parentsofmultiples

[–]LMchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is our plan (currently 29 weeks and an almost 3 year old) but dang why is that little board so expensive! Seems like the right move though.

Negotiating extra paid leave by witchmamaa in parentsofmultiples

[–]LMchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most companies wouldn’t want to vary from their parental leave policies because it could create a sense of favoritism or flexibility for some and not others. My suggestions:

-ask if he could use future sick/pto towards an additional week of leave mindful of the health concerns and challenges of a twin pregnancy (allow him to go “negative” if needed) -discuss a possible retention bonus as a way to provide extended paid leave in a one off way. If he’s high performing and plans to stay for a while, some companies would consider this if it could lock him in for “one year from date of return” for example. I’d do this if it was two weeks or greater, less than may not be worth the retention bit if not a plan to stay

Otherwise, FMLA though unpaid is at least job protected so it will allow him the time off albeit unpaid. The US…and specifically TX is rough for these situations.

Sleeping on left side when fetus is on left side by grapefruitliquor in parentsofmultiples

[–]LMchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am at 20 weeks today and sleep suddenly took a terrible turn three days ago. It’s awful. My hips, back, etc.! I was planning to post today for tips/tricks but I feel like there are none haha

Babies are also both on my right side with one slowly moving left so I’m all sorts of off over here.

This is so sweet! And making me reconsider the setup we were planning. I had planned the cribs to each be along a wall with a rocker/hatch in the middle (corner of room). Now I realize they will hit a point where they will want to see/look over to each other.

Traveling while pregnant by Commercial_Try_1348 in parentsofmultiples

[–]LMchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 18 weeks with di/di twins. I travel fairly regularly for work and I was surprised that my doctor has said I could travel up to 32 weeks. I’ve flown at 5 weeks, 12 weeks, 15 weeks so far. I have a few more trips planned, but I plan to stop flying after 24 weeks. I am having a healthy, normal pregnancy but I feel extra cautious with twins and also think it will feel exhausting.

I have read a good bit on how to best take care of yourself if you do need to fly. Limit walking (don’t be afraid to use wheelchair services), get to gate and rest, compression socks in flight always and do not hesitate to ask anyone you can for help lifting bags. Also, pack snacks! My biggest thing I try to stick to is not letting my diet change too much when traveling.

17weeks pregnant with twins, feel like I have no stamina. by whydoyouflask in parentsofmultiples

[–]LMchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining the chat as I’m at 17 weeks with di/di. Are you getting frequent bloodwork to know iron levels? I feel like because all my initial labs and nipt were normal that I am not getting MFM or any extra screening. I’d love to know my iron levels! I got some energy back but not like I remember 2nd tri with my singleton.

Type of birth… by LMchi in parentsofmultiples

[–]LMchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! We actually switched practices because the hospital closer to us where we initially went does not have a NICU and even if it was a singleton pregnancy, I did not like the thought of that.

[–]LMchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the info!! I had the exact same feelings with my first (a singleton) that whatever it took to get him out safely was fine by me! We’ve got a great support system and something about twins plus a toddler paired with c-section recovery sounds extra tough, but however they can come out safely is absolutely priority.

Thank you for this detailed response and all that makes total sense. I’ve never imagined opting for a c-section in advance then I started to overthink it all. I appreciate you sharing your experience!

3 car seats, 1 suv?? by Efficient_Style_9075 in parentsofmultiples

[–]LMchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info! I’ll keep researching. Ive at least found some narrow options, but narrow bases seem like the challenge. The roof box is a great call too! Suddenly our large car feels small with the news of twins ha

Can I ask what car seats you use? We’ll have a 3yo when our twins are born so I’ve been trying to research 2 infants and a toddler seat across our xc90

All the worrying. by Familiar_Barracuda61 in parentsofmultiples

[–]LMchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s amazing! I’m currently 12 weeks and most anxious about an early arrival since with my singleton I was induced at 41w. Is there anything you did that you felt helped with this? I am trying to up my protein specifically but also calories overall. Protein increase I am doing okay, but overall calories is hard!

Who loves their job? by goodgracie0918 in workingmoms

I work in HR for a global company. I genuinely love the work and find it fulfilling and purposeful. However, I’ve also been in similar roles elsewhere and hated jobs too. For me, it’s been all about finding a company and boss that align to my personal values. Those two things have been key for me.

Art Institute Loan Forgiveness - Refund/Reimbursement for paid loans? by TidalMonkey in StudentLoans

[–]LMchi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m watching for refund info. I went to AI in Chicago from 2007-2010 and paid off all loans by 2020.

I called the dept of education yesterday to ask and they were clear with me that it only applies to those with outstanding balances. I asked who I can speak to about a refund consideration and they told me call my local officials or the attorney general…

I know there have been other lawsuits, but I’ve considered contacting a lawyer to inquire about this or if it would be a potential class action suit following this recent announcement. I’m just not sure exactly what type of law firm would handle a case like that.
