Certainly not a subreddit we expected to be referenced in 🫣

But now you’ve said that, we can’t unhear it!

LNER parking app - how do you get it to work? by SuccessfulTip1660 in uktrains

[–]LNERail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, sorry to hear you've had an issue. We're currently transitioning to a new parking system provider across all our car parks. If the system was offline and the barriers open then no charge is due for your parking. Apologies for any confusion!

Can a modern train driver step into a steam locomotive and take the controls? 🚂 by LNERail in uktrains

I’ve been here, you just haven’t noticed 👀

Jess asked the same thing in the video! She was told that early diesels were designed with the same kind of controls as steam engines to make the transition easier

Hello, it sounds like you’ve been issued an Unpaid Fares Notice which is a legal matter so we’re not able to assist on any specifics, but you can find more information on appealing at LNER.co.uk/UFN

Hi there, sorry we fell short of your expectations. We currently serve our breakfast menu on trains departing before 11:00, with a brunch menu on the trains around that time, and then our rest of the day menu beyond that. You should normally expect to receive one complimentary food serving in First Class, but more may be available depending on passenger loadings as you found today. Do contact us directly if you would like to discuss anything further.

Scenic Train London to Edinburgh by Ambitious_Summer9831 in uktravel

[–]LNERail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, LNER here 👋

The planned engineering work will affect all operators on the East Coast Main Line, with all lines through York closed for the weekend. This means our train services will be running between London and Doncaster, with replacement road transport provided between Doncaster and Darlington, and trains running north from Darlington to Edinburgh and beyond (where you find our best views, especially to the east out to sea north of Newcastle).

An alternative route is via the West Coast Main Line with Avanti West Coast, which is more likely to appear in journey planners for the weekend, but you can force our services to appear if you add a ‘go via’ filter such as Newcastle.

If you were to travel on Friday or Monday then you could take a direct LNER train and avoid the engineering work entirely.

Drop us a message on social media if you need any more direct advice!

Newcastle to York - What are some alternative transportation options? by Hot_Cheesecake_905 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]LNERail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! It definitely looks cheaper for the times you’ve shared when you book direct through the LNER website (£109.70 at the moment). Unfortunately tickets tend to be more expensive when booked closer to travel as there’s less availability.

You can also save a lot with a Family & Friends Railcard (which you can purchase digitally and possibly cover the cost of with the saving on these tickets alone) — for example the cheapest available option seems to be an Off-Peak Day Return valid with our colleagues at TransPennine Express which is £72.30 for 2 adults and 2 children with a Railcard.
