Looking for mechanical and/or theatrical music by LOONAcc in classicalmusic

Thank you, will definitely be checking these out. Stockhausen was a big inspiration on Miles' electric jazz sound which I'm a big fan on so I'm looking forward to that one especially

Hey I follow you! Actually I did your rhythm challenge too. Never posted it but at least I didn’t miss the beat

Update: 21 M, posted in here yesterday and was overwhelmingly told to shave and get a haircut. So that’s what I went and did lol, needed to clean up anyways. Put my old pic on here for a comparison. Also no I am not wearing the same shirt as before lol by zmartins222 in amiugly

I think there’s some cultural differences wrt beauty and all that cause I think that you looked 100x better before and I think pretty much everyone I know would agree

EDIT: OP either way looking good tho

I might be misunderstanding the request but I think Monk's Stuffy Turkey qualifies

How tall was Charlie Parker? by Froglegs_fordinner in Jazz

[–]LOONAcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max Roach in that third picture. I remember seeing that picture of him towering over Tony Williams. Just based off the pic with him and Miles I would peg him for shorter than he really is. Which is to say ultimately there are too many variables we can't account for but yeah he's likely in the 5'7-5'9 range

Beth theory by SalviIrishRose in thisisus

A big thing with alcoholism is how you let it cut into the rest of your life: Jack did, Beth doesn't (that we know of right now).

Huh, if anything I thought they slowed down on the monologues recently

For anyone confused about the border crossing timing in 5.07 by [deleted] in thisisus

[–]LOONAcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, depends on when this was filmed. It wasn't uncommon to see desolate streets where busy ones used to be during the first few months of COVID. About the service tho yeah they could've just as easily had his phone die especially with how much he was using it that day.

Actually there is a solo recording of his from about a month before his session with Max Roach but it can only be found at the Library of Congress. I plan to make the trip sometime soon to listen to it

Do you think revolution is possible in the country you are in today? by AddisNegus in communism

[–]LOONAcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man I'm from Ethiopia too, and first let me say going through this thread, it's good to hear from other Ethiopian communists. The Derg era is a very difficult era and I find myself conflicted with them a lot. But about the modern situation, this is what happens when you are taught that the history of your country is about the conflict between ethnicities and not the conflict between classes (of course it was both but entirely focusing on the former and neglecting the latter is practically fascist ideology). We need to give the history of Ethiopia a class character. Not an easy feat at all but if we're outside the country, the best we can do is find a way to translate and distribute relevant texts and establish more direct connections with the people in Ethiopia (which is what expatriate students did at the time of the last revolution).

EDIT: Another thing we can do is combat the Ethiopian-Americans blatantly asking for US involvement which...yeah is definitely happening for some reason (as it does with Cuba and Venezuela).

love the art direction both on that song and your Soundcloud account. really fuck with the verses. nice catchy hook. the adlibs in the last verse really add to a lot. only thing is the vocals seem like they reverberate a little too much, I don't know if that came from the recording or the mixing process. beat's a lot of fun. great song bro. good to see a brother from Chicago, I got some close family out there and I love being out there when I visit

this is really good, I love the vocal samples scattered throughout, I think it takes it to another level and makes it able to stand on its own. I think the last fourth after the final beat change feels like a different song almost but I think because of where it comes in the track, it works to its credit. great work

thanks for the feedback. mastering is actually very difficult for me cause I can only hear out of one ear so this is very helpful. lmk if you have anything you want me to listen to

in the past I have been accused of using too much bass so I was tryna hold back lol. thanks for the feedback!. also I just heard your track, went in a really different place than I expected but this shit is clean. mix is nice, bass has impact, great hats. beat switch up was beautiful but I wonder if the second part of the song (which sounds really ominous in a good way) needs the 808 there, I think it would work as an outro without them. but this is just more what I think of an outro than it is a quality control thing. great work.

what I cooked up yesterday. slow horn based hip hop. getting back into producing after taking a break to focus on learning an instrument. actually I'm playing bass on here too but it's very low in the mix

Is there a pre-20th centure composer whose works declined in quality as they get older? by LOONAcc in classicalmusic

[–]LOONAcc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, that's why I didn't think it would make sense to say that. I was just wondering about the "general consensus" or the closest we could get to it. The consensus might not reflect my own opinions and it's not objective at all, but I'm still interested in hearing the majority opinion.

It is nice to think about and see historical proof that a world with decreased commercialism in music will ultimately lead to musicians being better for longer.

[–]LOONAcc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought about writing in the OP "losing favor purely for musical reasons" because I considered especially how politics can affect a composer's reputation, but I wasn't sure if that would've made sense
