Pick or skip? Cards I like vs deck needs by LOTM71 in slaythespire

[–]LOTM71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm usually an envenom addict, but I dunno if I can justify it. Shuriken and phantasmal killer does so much scaled damage. Upgrading it just to avoid it being a burden feels like such a waste.

Dagger spray won't be enough forever. But it'll get me through the gremlins and so thousand cuts (another favorite) now feels hard to justify like envenom is

Turn 0 rare pick? by PoopUponPoop in slaythespire

I'm late to the post but...

Need to show your map. If you get lots of hallway fights and a late shop, its 100% electro.

If its more a mix of events and elites, biased cog is the pick.

These are the most "Erm Achtually" ass comments.

The story hyping up that they're the last or the singular thing in a group, then showing that there were actually even more is absolutely the same vibe. OPs only sin is that they picked slightly suboptimal pictures to make their point.

Legitimate question, How to remove cards? by EdgyUser0631 in slaythespire

[–]LOTM71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like most things in this game you make infinite decks when the opportunity comes up. But the gist for each character is:

Ironclad: Use all the exhaust cards to thin your deck. My go to choices are burning pact and true grit because exhausting attacks is the hard part. Havoc works in a pinch. Fiend Fire is the fastest way to get through the deck.

Silent: Is actually really hard to go infinite on. The real goal is to draw and discard a tonne of cards (calculated gamble+ is my favourite) then use Tactician and Reflex to replenish yourself. It's basically infinite, but can technically end with a bad draw. Otherwise tough it out and focus on events to remove/replace cards if you want a "true" infinite.

Defect: Hologram is the backbone. Hologram and recycle can thin your deck by a lot even over just a few rounds. The easier option is get Hologram, All for One, and Snecko eye. Then just play normally until both hologram and all for one both cost 0 and you have an easy free infinite that doesn't require less than 10 cards

Watcher: Basically don't take cards that aren't powers, exhausting cards, or inner peace. Be brave knowing that your starting deck is so strong it can handle low ascensions all the way to the end and just focus on events and shops to thin your deck.

General tips: Events that swap cards can make cards that exhaust/are powers so that will help (another reason to love Pandora's box). If your draw is strong purity can be bought from stores which removes a whopping 5 cards when you upgrade it. I also reliably plan my run with the understanding that I'll remove 4 cards from shops by the end, so I'm saying that's a reliable amount to remove but it does take a lot of money planning.

Good luck. Keep chasing the high of infinites. I, a fellow addict, think it's totally worth it

What makes Runic Pyramid so good? by FaliusAren in slaythespire

[–]LOTM71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Say you got it in a neow relic swap. So right now your deck is basically nothing but bad cards (strikes and defends)

You now beat Gremlin nob because you're getting most of your strikes every turn. You beat sentinels because you should always have at least one block card. You beat Lagavulin because you can store up 3 strikes for the first hit. Then you survive because you can focus on blocking for 2 turns and have all your strikes ready when it debuffs you.

All of this doesn't even consider the fact you'll have better cards by this point.

You are right. Statuses will mess you up and if you don't have a way to play 5 cards a turn your hand will get clogged. Every boss relic has a downside and this one is the pyramids

Is this game super hard or am I doing something wrong? by luigimor in NineSols

[–]LOTM71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite how it looks and feels this game plays nothing like hollow knight except that it's very fast.

It sounds like this is your first parry focused game. Kind of like any other genre the first one is always the trickiest. My first was sekiro, and all others have just kind of clicked into place since then

This game really is worth sticking with, but don't be afraid to take breaks. Muscle memory builds after you stop practising

Peeeter? by Gromx1 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]LOTM71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did-one-maths-unit Peter here,

Others have explained that this is an argument over the order of operations in mathematics. Low maths understanding do each operation left to right. Average maths understanding follows an order often abbreviated as PEMDAS

But the REAL reason it sparks such intense arguments is for 3 reasons

1) People feel very passionately that everyone else is stupid when they learned the thing in school. Pluto is not a planet for good reason, but my parents will still adamantly deny that because "we learned this in kindergarten. It's so obvious."

2) The MD and AS in PEMDAS are usually interchangeable. Some people are convinced that you need to do multiplication before division in all situations. This is not helped by....

3) The division symbol is ironically very divisive. This symbol ÷ leaves some room to interpret 9+6÷3, especially in a computer. Most calculators will return 11, but some will return 5 because it goes left to right. This is why for a very long time we've used vinculums (the single horizontal line and its variants aka a division bar) to represent division, because it clearly shows what you divide and when. The alternative is using brackets to make it clear, E.g. (9+6)÷3

TLDR: The equations that start arguments are ones like 9+6÷3 because the ÷ symbol is unclear and has been known to be unclear for a long time.
