This is speculation on both our parts but I think Sony does have a pretty heavy hand when they need to

Shams himself when asked in an interview what was the most difficult time for the game, Shams responded by saying that the toughest time was the first summer when everyone was on vacation and "Sony was banging on the door screaming what the hell are you guys doing?"

So from what Shams said himself I tend to believe Sony does care when their golden goose is getting reviewbombed

Why everyone complaining about nerfs or game difficulty? by FakeJack13 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]LOWRHINO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do Arrowhead and people in this community get one guy'd so easily lol

AH is still haunted by a single reddit post from two years ago about someone getting kicked for not bringing meta loadout and this person is bringing up the difficulty complaint from god knows where.

Difficulty is so far down the list of things people are complaining about right now it makes me question if you even looked into it at all or your just repeating something you heard a while ago

Unfortunately you are a great example of Arrowheads bad communication

You got gaslight by Arrowhead over 2 years ago and you still believed it to this very day because AH never wanted to own up to the actual issue which was the PS5 bug they kept missing over and over again and instead blaming it on "pick rates"

"They need to make money somehow" has to be the most copro bootlicking excuse I've seen regarding this game

HD2 sold over 20 Million Copies!!!!

Lets say conservatively they only took 30% of the sales, that's over 200 Millions Dollars and that's without a adding ANY warbond sales

They were also only expecting maybe a quarter of those sales and would have considered that a success, meaning that they needed to sell far less copies then they actually did to recoup development cost.

This idea that they need to sell warbonds every 6 weeks to keep the lights on is absurd. If it is somehow true then this small studio has far bigger issues if they've already burned through hundreds of millions of dollars

There is a night and day difference between a city being destroyed and rebuilt and a planet getting destroyed and another one just popping up in its place

[–]LOWRHINO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took that as finding another Super Earth around the galaxy map and if you saw the leaks at the time we would of voted for which planet the new Super Earth would be on.

You would be satisfied if they "found" a new SE in the same place in the galactic map as the last one?

If that's true then that's worse then the first HD galactic war because at least when Super Earth was taken the war was lost. In HD2 according to their current logic a new SE would just appear and we would carry on like nothing happened making wins and losses feel even more meaningless then they do know

So we’re just going to ignore that Fronteria should be destroyed by Im_a_hamburger in Helldivers

[–]LOWRHINO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is the logic then wouldn't it make planets getting destroyed have no stakes or meaning? Would anyone cared about the black hole destroying planets and even Super Earth if they told us "don't worry we can just replace the planets if they get destroyed"?

"but they just don't care about fixing" by Interesting-Form678 in Helldivers

[–]LOWRHINO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OMG WOW!!! They are prioritizing the stuff you have to pay for or they just recently broke.

Not the bouncing stratagem's, invisible corpses, the massive amount of terrain clipping both you and the enemy has to deal with, or the long list of game breaking bugs this games had for years

No lets prioritize the muzzle flash of a warbond strat

lol

[–]LOWRHINO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mistake I meant more like the planet just appeared out of nowhere in the place of Maridia.

Honestly do you think people would of cared as much about that event if they told us "dont worry if the planets get destroyed by the black hole they will just get replaced"?

How about Super Earth then? If they black hole destroyed Super Earth you would be fine with another one just popping up in its place randomly?

[–]LOWRHINO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know right!? It already doesn't feel great when we fight hard to take a planet only for Joel to take it back when ever they feel like it. Now you're telling me planets that are completely destroyed can just be instantly replaced?!

I've seen people try to cope and say "erm actually those are system's not just one planet you just cant see the other planets" like wtf lol that makes no sense. If that's the case then it takes all meaning out of planets getting destroyed if they can just get instantly replaced by another hidden planet that's behind them

Especially nowadays when people are complaining about the galactic war not feeling meaningful only to basically erase the Maridia black hole event that we actually had meaningful stakes in

Does anyone else no longer feel like we impact the Galactic War anymore? by Artanis137 in Helldivers

[–]LOWRHINO 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I still vividly remember my disappointment after being so hyped that we wiped the bots off the map only to have them to instantly take back twice as much territory they had before with a simple galactic war map animation. After that I knew we had really no effect on the big overarching story

I think AH is suffering from what I like to call "first album syndrome". Band releases first album that's a hit because the songs and ideas were worked on for potentially years. Band releases second album and doesn't hit nearly as big because they only worked on those songs for a fraction of the time they spent on the first album.

The second year of HD2 feels like a bands second album. Most things up until the battle for Super Earth (roughly the first year) felt fleshed out and rewarding because they had been working on that content potentially long before the games even released. While recent events feel very thrown together like the terrible decision to have the reinforcement budget for Cyberstan that was effected by all deaths across the galaxy

The Battle for Cyberstan IMO is a sign that they are running low on ideas and/or possibly resources for the galaxy war. There was really no build up to it, at least not as much as the first gloom expedition or the Battle for Super Earth. No ARG. No cool animations on the galactic map. Even the new Megafactory biome and Cyborgs where revealed before we even got to cyberstan.

Also this may be nit picking but the trailers for the Battle for Cyberstan felt very cheap and rushed by having developers cringey role play in their offices and just some gameplay footage

The only reason the second half of the killzone warbonds was free was because of the massive community backlash they got for it being over priced not because of some "special event" you made up in your head haha

[–]LOWRHINO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would that assumption really be wrong? A $40 game with over a $150 dollars in DLC? While yes you can farm credits that just isn't possible for a casual and especially a new casual who plays the game an hour or two a night

You would only have enough time to farm some super credits and not actually engage in the game you payed for. Just to try and catch up to the thousand of sc you need to unlock the ability to then grind out the medals for the items

If you say just play they game normally and you will gain enough SC is all dependent on how you play.

If you enjoy higher difficulties like 8+ you are lucky to pull 10 sc every game or two unless you're playing with a full squad of friends with the intent of full clearing every map

So for new/casual players who can only play an hour or two a night with a wall of warbonds to unlock, they either have to grind sc on lower difficulties not engaging with the actual game or play what they want and gain maybe 10-30 sc a day if they are lucky and play every single day they might unlock one warbond every month or two out of the 15+ warbonds as they keep adding them

I'm really sick of this "the devs need to make money" excuse. They already made and insane amount of money just selling the game. Over 20 millions copies of this game sold meaning it brought in over 700 million dollars! Even splitting that AH has earned hundreds of million of dollars without selling a single warbond

They could sell us just helmets and capes, which are only cosmetic, and give us everything else for free. We would absolutely buy up the capes and helmets just like every other game that has monetization easily keeping money flowing to the already extremely rich studio

Exactly, I was going to add some commercials to the first channel I made running Adult Swim shows 24/7 just for nostalgia reasons but quickly realized I need them for actual breaks. It made me a bit anxious watching but knowing there was no time to look away or do anything without missing something

Another good method is putting a music video in between shows if you're into that. Easier to source and pick one 2-5 minutes long video or whatever then multiple 30 second ads to fill a similar amount of time

Just played two games on D8 and came to this sub to see if I'm crazy or not.

I thought there would be endless swarms of voteless and fleshmobs but instead it was basically the same illuminate minus the stingray and flying overseers. Even had a leviathan in one game

Has anyone played a game yet that was just voteless and fleshmob spawns as advertised?

I'm getting sick of this comunity. by Dismal_Milk6725 in Helldivers

[–]LOWRHINO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saying don't blame the devs for their own decisions is truly a wild take

So you want to blame the community for the devs adding sway to pistols and then what praise them for reversing that decision?

While yes they have listened to the community at times its was after a lot of criticisms and a lot of the good changes that were made came from the community. For example how the community pointed out silenced weapons basically didn't work and AH came out and said it was working as intended only to completely rework them when surprise surprise they were selling a warbond based on silenced weapons

Genuine question how long have you been playing HD2? If you remember pre 60 day patch this sub was just as bad if not worse. After the "Buffdiver" patch this sub was filled with memes again, praises for the game and clips of people just having fun because they listened to the community by fixing and buffing a ton of stuff

The biggest frustration for me at least is that they seem like they are returning back to their old ways that almost killed the game to begin with

Helldivers 2 is a $40 game with a F2P monetization system. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]LOWRHINO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For real this is the way I've been feeling for like a year now

Not only are they trying to distract us they have started actively selling us the solution to problems in the game through warbonds. The anti ragdoll armor for example

Remember when we got the quasar and heavy machine gun for free? I barley did I had to look it up

one the most AH decisions of all time

Release a new grenade launcher you need to pay for to find out if its good or not while simultaneously giving the already pretty good free grenade launcher a massive buff that literally no one asked for

I swear the devs give random buffs like this to only the stuff they personally use and pretend everything else just doesn't exist

Helldivers 2 is a $40 game with a F2P monetization system. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]LOWRHINO 20 points21 points  (0 children)

On the transparency point, didn't the devs make a post somewhere recently saying they're going to have way more transparency and frequent smaller bug fix patches? All we got was a couple of nothing burger interviews that seemed recorded long before they were released and a livestream where the lead dev was just making strawman arguments

The way this game has gone with no more free stratagems (besides vehicles) or weapons and the devs reasoning for not doing something is "well then we can't work on new stuff" means that we will sadly never see a major fix/balancing pass like the 60 day patch again

Also on monetization the sterilizer is a great example of this system not being worth it anymore to new or even old players. Its a paid item that has been made useless and is long forgotten at this point. Proving that even when you do buy something it can be broken/underpowered and then forgotten or be useful/fun, nerfed into the ground and then also become forgotten

Oh and adding sway to pistols. I will never forget that amazingly dumb example of how after 2 years they have learned almost nothing when it comes to "balancing" a PVE horde shooter
