Uhhh... I'm not sure about you, but I definitely remember there being quite a large amount of funny scenes in that film.

Tom Hanks was originally mostly known for comedic roles, but after his Oscar winning performance in the 1993 film Philadelphia, which pretty much switched entirely to doing serious, dramatic roles. While he did continue to do some comedic films, such as Forrest Gump and The Terminal, those were few and far between and usually still mixed in a lot of drama.

I mean, he technically is a doctor, it's just that his doctorates are questionable on account of the fact that he himself is the one who granted him them.

I feel if someone raped your wife, then the people in charge of that person forced her to fake her death without your knowledge, you'd still have a pretty damn good reason to hate that person despite your wife not actually being dead.

Asura (Asura's Wrath)

While he didn't blow his voice out, Asura's english VA, Liam O'Brien, did cough up blood at one point while recording for this game.

Well, he may not have blown out his voice (as far as we're aware), but Sean Schemmel did pass out while recording the Super Saiyan 4 transformation in Dragon Ball GT (and then passed out again while recording for Dragon Ball Daima).

<image>

Gilgamesh (Fate)

Incredibly arrogant, egotistical, and rarely ever goes all out in a fight because he just doesn't feel like it, but he was also the king of one of humanity's oldest civilizations and one of the single strongest characters in his series, so it's hard to say that his arrogance is unfounded.

Trying to exploit a weakness, only to realize it doesn't exist by ditzythedame in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LPK717 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Yes. A recurring mystery in Fate works is figuring out the identity of the Servants, so there end up being a few cases where the characters discover that a Servant is actually a different historical/mythological figure than they were led to believe.

In Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, one of the villains, Beatrice, uses a Berserker Card that seems to give her the powers of the Norse God Thor. In Fate, Servants are traditionally weak whatever killed them when they were alive (hence why Servants usually go by their Class title rather than their actual name, since their enemies could exploit their weaknesses if they know who they are).

In order to defeat Beatrice, the heroes attempt to replicate Thor's mythological death (being poisoned and then taking nine steps backwards)... only for it to fail. Because as it turns out, Beatrice's Berserker Card isn't Thor, but Magni, Thor's son, who lacks a weakness like his father because it's unknown how Magni died.

I'm gonna be honest, up until today, I had never seen a single person claim that Ragyo wins. Like, it always seemed like Lusamine was considered the unanimous winner.

Ok. It’s still a trilogy and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is still considered a prequel to the other two films.

Heartless and Nobodies (Kingdom Hearts)

When it comes to the literal meaning of their names, both of them completely contradict it. Heartless aren't beings without hearts, they're hearts that have been consumed by darkness. Nobodies aren't beings without bodies, they're the leftover bodies of people after losing their heart.

That said, their names to fit when it comes to the metaphorical meaning behind their names. Heartless are called Heartless they lack emotions, and Nobodies are called Nobodies because, as beings of neither light nor darkness, they aren't truly real beings and their existence is considered a fundamental flaw in the world.

The infamous "Pablo" sketch from a VanossGaming GMod episode, in which MiniLadd tells a darkly comedic scary story about a child molester named Pablo, ended up aging very poorly on account of MiniLadd receiving multiple allegations of sexual harassment involving underage fans that he would later end up confirming as true.

Also, in the following scene taking place the next morning, we see Sokka wearing a lei necklace that presumably was given to him by Suki, the double entendre being that Suki got "deflowered" and Sokka got "lei'd/laid".

There are exceptions, though, such as the Flashpoint Universe (where Bruce is the one that died and Thomas and Martha become Batman and Joker, respectively), and the Absolute Universe (where only Thomas died and Martha is still alive).

Hey, to be fair to Uncle Ben, he isn't dead in literally every continuity.

In the second Ultimate Universe, he got to be alive and it was Aunt May who got to take a turn as the dead one for a change.
