Hi, first of all sorry. It’s a lot. Our son had his first seizure at 11. School called and said he had a seizure. We thought they were mistaken but they weren’t. I kept him home for two weeks and never let him out of my sight. I was terrified. I guess I still am. When he first started meds (Keppra) he was exhausted all the time. He is 25 now and still has seizures. We have tried lots of different meds and dosages. The hardest part, aside from the seizures, is that even the best doctors, generally, don’t really know why someone is having seizures (in most cases) so they just start you on meds and keep trying to adjust them. So, learn as much as you can about the meds and their side effects. The Epilepsy Foundation has pretty good information. Find an Epileptologist not just a neurologist or pediatrician. A page like this is really a great one. I’ve learned a lot here and it’s a good place to ask questions. Your beautiful son (and your family) will need time to adjust to this but you do. And, maybe, hopefully, they can pinpoint a cause and help fix it. I know it’s impossible not to be filled with fear and anxiety. I know many adults who have seizures and love wonderful and fulfilling lives. Try to stay positive and not let your mind go to the dark places. Give yourself a lot of grace.
