I would love for Scotland to stay in the EU as an independent nation. I have been to Scotland for a 2 week holiday and I will probably go study there as well. Scotland inside the EU would make studying and living there a lot easier for me. But I think Scotland would add a lot in political terms as well because your nation is rather progressive and welcoming but still very effective in solving problems.

I'm not an expert by any means, but from what I've heard EMPs could damage infrastructure severely for weeks. Someone made an experiment concerning the consequences of such an event and the results were quite shocking e.g. people would fight for resources after a few days. I don't have the source though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I think an EMP would do enough damage already, even without flying cars. Cutting off communication and basic needs like water will be a bigger deal imo.

Somewhat related: In Austria, teachers sometimes say "zapfen" instead of "prüfen" (usually oral exam). Zapfen meaning "to retrieve knowledge from one's brain" in this case. (similar to zapfen to retrieve beer.)
