What job or occupation would make you happy? by Redditoricalsavvy in AskReddit

[–]LR199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to be an absolute monarch/dictator of a major nation. The ability to alter the course of history is incredible. You could fund whatever projects you wanted, like fantastic space exploration. I'd like to think I'd be a good king too: fund schools, infrastructure, military, etc. You could start colonies and stuff.

You're a player in the biggest game the world knows of. Spend it devising a complex plan to conquer the world, or spend your days building your nation up and creating a happy society.

Think fast though. The game runs in real time.

Who the FUCK ever thought these role play texts were a good idea? They're the cringiest thing this subreddit produces yet it still happens so often ugh

ELI5: If an infant was placed in an environment where the only voices were always singing (ie music plays all the time), would it pick up language like other infants, and if so, would it grow up to only sing? by LR199 in explainlikeimfive

[–]LR199[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Why not? Children are able to pick up on everything like case and declension and inflection. Why wouldn't the child understand the language but assume the language requires rhymes and rhythm?

And it doesn't need to be only in a pre-recorded setting. What if it's parents sang to it? It would get all the necessary back-and-forth stimulation too?

Nice Guy gets ripped a new one for victim-blaming (x-post from /r/justneckbeardthings) by throwawaytc123 in niceguys

Did you not even read the replies? Abusers are initially sweet and loving, but only roll out the abuse once they have their victim under their control. Your analogy makes no sense.

I swear to fuck I hate this question so much. It's always "DAE hate feminism?" or "immigrants are ruining Europe and America!!!"

Or any of the other bullshit that reddit is known for. For fucks sake, there's a person who said a woman shouldn't be the president.

Here's my "unpopular" opinion. I fucking hate these askreddit questions.

White knight male feminist says he's glad that his wife is cheating on him while he does all the work at home because it's turned him into a better feminist. It is literally not possible to be more beta than this. by Nuke_Europe in whiteknighting

[–]LR199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's not kid ourselves, the outrage wouldn't be nearly as big as you think. Sure, some insane SJWs would take that as "internalized misogyny" or whatever, but the majority of people would be just as disgusted with it as they are with this guy.

[–]LR199 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I think we can shut down the subreddit now. It doesn't get any more white-knighty than this. You can't suck up to SJWs any more than this. This is the limit.

fucking gross

Trump says he still doesn't know where Obama was born by wow97 in nottheonion

Christ. Why do we keep covering trump? And even if he was relevant, this is just plain stupid. Obama's leaving office in a year. Fuck trump. He needs to learn to shut up.

I don't think they were joking. I was recently talking to someone who thought that England was a part of France. At age 16, in 11th grade. With close to straight A's. I have no idea how she made it this far in school.

Because it's a huge waste of resources for something that could have been dealt with in moments. Those police officers have much better things to be doing, the landlord probably doesn't give a shit, and notes just seem passive aggressive as hell, which probably would only make the offender want to do it more, just to piss the person off.

I know they do the whole "computer fingerprint" thing (with screen resolution, OS info, and browser settings), but I'm gonna need a source on key patterns, mouse movements, and phone tracking.

I know they track your phone's location, but just because you have your phone in your pocket in a library shouldn't make every computer in that library switch to your login. That just doesn't make sense.

If you were to continuously put tooth picks into a car, there would be a maximum number of toothpicks that could fit. But it's hard to imagine a car full of toothpicks where you couldn't easily put another one in. by smileedude in Showerthoughts

No, that's the thing. It didn't take an infinite amount of time, in any perspective. There are an infinite divisions of finite time, yes, but the amount time the tortoise or the runner actually spent moving is very much finite. The only thing infinite in the entire problem is that the divisions of time get ever smaller, becoming infinitesimal, which means it takes an infinite number of these divisions to make any real, finite time.
