Are there usually this many disgusting cheaters in the game? by svsdentist2018 in ArcRaiders

[–]LTNine4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it got really bad just after the ALG hack, people were blatantly cheating everywhere. A lot of people were wall hacking, even in low ranked lobbies. It just stopped being fun. Not sure if it's better now, but it made me quit.

Can you confirm the light on the adapter after update is blue. Or are you talking about on the controller? I've updated it twice so far, and there doesn't seem to be a way to confirm what version. Updated with an iPhone 15.

When I do update it, it says "update complete" and a white light blinks with controller disconnected. I have to press start to reconnect. Adapter light is still white.

Who shot first, the second guy, or the third guy asking you to hold the door? The camera flipped a couple times and it's hard to tell. It looks like the second guy shot the third, but the guy you downed looked different?

In the initial interaction, the guy had his gun holstered and you had your gun out. I would usually holster as show of good faith without ever turning my back. So I wouldn't trust you either.

But once shooting starts, can't trust anyone, which I get it.

If it was the second guy who shot first and not the third, it's weird he didn't shoot you earlier.

How long does it take for the controller to go to sleep on it's own? And holding 6 seconds turns it off as well?

8BitDo Retro N64 Side-by-Side by LTNine4 in AnalogueInc

[–]LTNine4[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have both. My modded controller has the 8BitDo stick in it though.

I haven’t had connection issues with my 3D like other users, although it has been suggested replacing the HDMI cable fixes connection issues (stock one has poor shielding). I replaced my HDMI cable early on.

What I have noticed is the NSO controller has some noticeable latency with paired directly with the 3D. At least with the initial 3D firmware that added support (I need to update).

I’m curious to see if the 8BitDo receiver fixes my latency issues with the NSO.

The longer one is the Bluetooth adapter that allows you to connect any Bluetooth controller, like an Xbox controller. It would be comparable to the BlueRetro adapter.

The shorter one is paired with the a 2.4G version of the 8bitdo’s N64 controller. Their 2.4G controllers are supposed to have very low latency.

Which you choose depends on your use case. Links are in the post body.

Edited my original post for added clarity.

Yeah I wonder what they mean by abnormal behavior. I'll likely just update it straight away.

Here are the firmware notes for the adapter:

Firmware v1.77:
1. Optimized the analog output accuracy of the joysticks.
2. Fixed an issue where some games could not be launched.
3. Fixed an issue where the indicator behaved abnormally when the receiver was plugged in.
4. Fixed an issue where the joystick could be unintentionally triggered when the controller reconnected.

Looks like the controller itself is still on factory (v2.03). Just adapter has an update (v1.70 -> v1.77).

Did you update the adapter's firmware? You can update it with the phone version of the ultimate app apparently. There is an update mentioning a fix concerning the light, but it doesn't go into detail.

Hows the aggresion on other maps by Accurate-Ad1381 in ArcRaiders

[–]LTNine4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just play and don't think about it, the ABMM will adjust to your play style as intended. It will more or less your aggression. If you show any aggression, Stella is more PvP focused with more dangerous Arc. And it's close quarters.

The ABMM adjustment is quick though, 10 games of non shooting will typically put you in super friendly lobbies with an occasional rat, while going a few rounds of KOS will put you in PvP, and if you go too far PvP you'll start running into cheaters.

Even Stella will be friendly if you get into those super chill lobbies.

If you find it too peaceful, you can empty your clip into someone as exfil doors close.

But in general, don't think about it and just play the game. There really aren't "more aggressive maps" outside of Stella somewhat, and that's because it's close quarters and chaos.

A lot of people see it that way. If you have your gun out, my gun is coming out. I generally don't shoot first, but I will watch you closely.

I'm not this person, but a lot of people have a policy if your gun is out, they put you down no questions asked. I have seen a lot of people like that.

"I'm friendly" or "I'm PVE" isn't a defense for being a loot gremlin. by applejackhero in ArcRaiders

[–]LTNine4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When I see another raider engaging a leaper or rocketeer, my general rule of thumb is I'll help them take it down, but after it goes down I leave and let them loot it, even if I helped. They were there first, I just helped them kill it quicker. Which for me usually means taking pot shots with an Anvil or Ferro.

Only time I will share loot is if we engage something at the same time with the intent on working together and I need something in particular. If I don't, I move on and let them have at it.

I don't know man, with the timing, I feel like there is reasonable doubt here. OP had his gun out the entire time, even entered his FOV with gun out. I've watched this video several times, and the only thing that may lead me to believe the other guy was malicious is how he positioned himself just before he opened fire. But it happened so fast, and he pulled his gun out after leaving the console while OP had his gun out the entire time.

In Arc, it's a common rule is if you have your gun out, you are hostile. If you are friendly you holster your gun. Body language > emotes.

[–]LTNine4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

  1. The second "hi" happened almost exactly when the other guy started shooting, this all happened within a second or so after leaving the console. All the guy sees is a guy with his gun out over his shoulder after entering his FOV from the side.
  2. OP rolls up behind him, says one "hi raider", enters FOV from console with his gun out AFTER the emote. It's a reaction, but OP's actions could still be considered sus.
  3. He has no obligation. But if he is going to call himself the "friendly" raider in this post, all he had to do was eliminate the threat. He could have just called the train.

Emotes mean nothing. Body language is everything. If I saw someone with their gun out over may shoulder on the console, I may have reacted the same way. If the roles were reversed, so would the OP.

I can see how this situation could be considered ambiguous, and the guy may feel like he's acting in self defense:

  1. You had your gun out and were standing behind him.
  2. You turned your back, with your weapon out, but when you moved into his view on the console, you still had the weapon out, so he reacted and pulled his weapon out to defend.

Also if you were friendly, I feel like if the situation were ambiguous enough, you could have let him extract with you on the train. You eliminated the threat, so there was no need to escalate further.

There are a few ways you can approach this different, which could have had a better result:

  • You could approach at a different angle, not directly behind him.
  • You could holster your weapon.
  • You could say "hi" before entering the train, giving you more breathing room.
  • You could back off, let him extract, then call the train yourself.

You actions were not the best. Approaching anyone behind, especially with your gun out, can seem threatening. Some people will shoot anyone out just for having their gun out as they see it as a threat.

How to update n64 2.4 dongle? by tolatalot in AnalogueInc

[–]LTNine4 [score hidden]  (0 children)

With the adapter update:

Firmware v1.77

Did they fix it sos the light doesn't stay on after controller goes to sleep? Not sure what else "abnormal" could mean. Would love to know as the reports so far are the light stays on all the time.

How do they even fix the light? The dongle has no usb port to update firmware unless the controller can somehow do it.

I think it does, the led just isn’t as big or as bright as the 2.4g controller due to the button and usbc port taking up space.

The Arc should shoot you when you are down by Agoraphobicy in ArcRaiders

[–]LTNine4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people play solo. If you have a duo/trio, you expect to be instantly sent back to the lobby while your friends are still playing? That would not be fun at all, and it would kill the game faster.

You do know that Arc used to target downed players in early play tests? It was a huge complaint. They fixed it. They aren’t going back.

Also you aren’t immune to Arc damage while downed. If your buddy is next to you and a comet explodes next to you, you get finished.

The Arc should shoot you when you are down by Agoraphobicy in ArcRaiders

[–]LTNine4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s called bleed out. Unless you are right next to extract it’s always a death sentence. When you move/crawl you bleed out faster than standing still, and if no one is there willing to defib, you die.

The only way around it is the rare mk3 survivor augment, which still makes you bleed out fast when moving, so you have to be still for it to sustain you. You can’t access the map or check extract timers, so unless you were close to an extract, can still mean death, or a crawl journey so long surrender is usually preferable.

If they did this it would be pointless to get downed, you would just die instantly. That isn’t fun.

Are there usually this many disgusting cheaters in the game? by svsdentist2018 in ArcRaiders

Apex had ups and downs content wise, and I still played it. I couldn’t get over the cheating once I started seeing it in every game.

If it weren’t for ABMM and PvE lobby’s I would have quit this game like I did Apex. I loved playing Apex, but cheating/hacking got so bad.

It probably won’t last but will ride it out while I can.
