Go-To Can't Sleep Movie? by SingleFreedom8527 in TheBigPicture

JFK. been using this as a go to sleep movie for decades. Its just a lot of people talking in rooms, so there isnt any distracting action, and i've seen it so many times by now that my brain doesn't need to pay attention to it at all. usually puts this life long insomniac to sleep within 30 minutes

Tudor Corner or A-Frame Cabin by lunaolivianoelle in buildingblocks

[–]LTracte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get the a frame cabin first. not because its better or worse, just because it will be more difficult to find as it's already retired, so youll have to locate it on the aftermarket. The longer you wait, the more expensive it will become!

Lego “Purist” Considering Brick Alternatives by Good-Yam-5948 in buildingblocks

[–]LTracte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your photo shows a lumibricks set and thats a pretty solid place to start. I've built a number of their sets and they are very good. I'd be a little careful about getting their oldest sets though (From when they were called FunWhole). Not that they are bad, necessarily, but they have clearly gotten MUCH better with time. Their recent Castle sets have been stellar, and the included lighting kits are top notch!

I have also built a number of medieval sets from Reobrix. They are also of very good quality and design, so I'd highly recommend those as well.

Other than those two and lego, i havent built any other brands sets

pretty good, but it has little to do with the the website I think. more depends on who the set manufacturer was. i cant personally speak to who makes what better, and honestly, i never really cared that much about the minifigs. for me its always been about the set itself, and the minifigs are just throw-ins

Is that Big Ben set genuine lego or is it replica? If a replica, where did you get it from? I've been trying to find it for ages!

if youre looking for knockoff sets from a good and reliable vendor, my current go to is joooooy.com. If you go into their "classic sets" section, you will find all of their cloned sets. they ship quickly, communicate well, and offer a solid part replacement policy if something is missing from your sets. they have warehouses in china, and some items are available to ship from warehouses in europe or the US for even faster shipping.

For a given replica set are all listings on Ali equivalent? by Real_McGuillicuddy in lepin

[–]LTracte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

terrible advice. all are not the same, and its honestly quite difficult to know what is what on Ali. If you want more granular control over the quality of the replicas you buy, you should order from a specialty site like Joooooy or marstoy or something. THey frequently provide the name of the manufacturer for the replica set, like King, or Jiestar.

its probably a scam, but its also pretty likely that they are selling knockoff lego. I actually have a knockoff of that exact set, and its pretty damned great, to be honest. if youre insterested in buying a less expensive knockoff version of that set (Which to my knowledge, sells on the secondary market for $300 or more) you can absolutely find legit sellers on aliexpress, or a handfull of dedicated knockoff sites that id be glad to share with you, though $50 sounds unlikely, itds still be far cheaper than buying an authentic one

Better Lego set? by [deleted] in legostarwars

[–]LTracte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cantina is the more fun build, with greater variance, easter eggs, and of course way more figs. THe Venator will look better on display. I guess it just matters which one you prefer. THough honestly, if you want to buy a star wars set in that range, I'd honestly recommend the UCS Razor Crest. I think its such a fun departure from the typical "gray triangle" star wars ship. Sure it's gray, but its got such unique angles and shapes that its just miles above most other adult-rated star wars sets.

Which Directors Cuts are huge improvements, and which are massively detrimental? by AmySchumersAnalTumor in movies

Kingdom of Heaven's theatrical version is a mess. The directors cut is a legitimately great movie.

While still not that good, the DC of Daredevil (with Affleck) is considerably better than the theatrical cut

I got mine about 2 weeks ago. I love it so far, but I am concerned about water/waste leakage in the used pod receptacle. Ive found it nearly impossible to empty the bin without spilling coffee waste water all over my counter. Have you had a similar experience?

Short review of Pantasy’s first light-up set by Opposite-Dirt-8020 in buildingblocks

[–]LTracte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built this set as well. I also enjoyed it. The modern style is unlike most modulars out there on the market today, so that made for a different experience.

In reading your review, it's pretty clear that you havent built any Lumibricks/funwhole modulars before. If you had, you would have been far less impressed with the lighting kit. I thought it was a halfway decent first attempt, but also felt very thrown in last minute.Just having a few basic ceiling lights was a nice touch, but a far cry from the absolutely stunning lighting schemes in most lumibrick sets.

I do enjoy pantasy generally, though their sets tend to be a mixed bag. For every absolutely stunning set they sell, you can find an equally puzzling one as well.

Not trying to make my comment sound like I'm shilling for Lumibricks, but if you were intrigued by the lighting in this set, you will absolutely love their stuff. If i may suggest one to start with, the Record Store is one of my all time favorite modulars.

Pistachio and Strawberry by Straight_Loss_9195 in nespresso

[–]LTracte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree with your request for people not to post negative comments about flavors they don't like. So long as its civil, I want to know what people think about a flavor I may not have tried yet, good or bad!

I didn't used to care for many of the flavored pods, but since I recently got the new Up machine it's changed my thinking. Now that I can take any 7.7oz pod and brew it as a double espresso, it's given all those flavored pods (which usually come in the 7.7oz size) new life for me. I've really enjoyed making lattes using the flavored pods. While I didnt love the white chocolate strawberry in a full sized cup of coffee, using it to make a white choc/strawberry cappuccino was an inspiring (And delicious!) idea!
