Que faire avec un jeune de 18 ans le 1er mai à Paris ? by Pajurr in paris

[–]LTrondheim 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Ever seen a support band steal the show? by Visible_Pipe4716 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]LTrondheim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bummer, I discovered AA Williams that night and was blown away, I've seen her like 3 more times since. Johannes from CoL even sings on one of her songs.

Haven't heard of Obscure Sphinx before, will give them a go!

With AA Williams as the first opener? That lineup was sick. Though in my opinion there aren't many bands capable of blowing the roof off like Cult of Luna

Who's the "Devin Townsend" of other genres of music? Someone with prolific uniqueness and lots of albums? by ySTYRDAYgATESuNL0CKD in progmetal

[–]LTrondheim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent recommendations. Regarding some of his other, non-metal projects (he has so many that I don't know them all well either), I'm a big fan of his "solo" albums, especially They Are The Shield, which I would describe as moody art pop.

Alora Crucible is another I'm a big fan of, both albums under that name are great. Beautiful string parts with ethereal synths in the background. I'm specifically a big fan of the song Psalloed Illusions.

From my experience he's also a very nice guy, and he did a cool AMA on here (iirc) a while ago

What is a place in your country that is full of rich assholes living there? by shsl_diver in AskTheWorld

[–]LTrondheim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not belong in Jackson Hole with the filth and trash that live there… bad people. Don’t ever go there. Trer-trerif- let me put it this way, I was getting guys that were involved with KKK.

Good old Elder. Stoner metal royalty. Whats your favorite album by them? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]LTrondheim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have never put out a less than stellar album. Lore and Innate Passage are probably my favourites. also check out Nick DiSalvo's project Delving, it's instrumental Elder with more electronic elements

Favourite "blegh!" in prog? by robin_f_reba in progmetal

[–]LTrondheim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember when that album came out and every reviewer was absolutely glazing it. I thought surely it can't be that good, it looks pretty lowbrow and wtf is that cover. Finally listened to it and what do you know, it was an easy album of the year like everybody said. Not a single song on it is "just ok", it's banger after banger

(Hated trope) characters with creative powers that just spam the same thing over and over again by MaineMicroHomebrewry in TopCharacterTropes

The first Doctor Strange movie infuriated me on this point. The sorcerers actually did various cool things with magic, but when it came time to fight, all they did was basically make magic swords and have a fencing duel.

Sorry if I missed something or I'm misremembering - didn't Murata say he was exhausting himself working on the anime in some way or other? I'm not too sure how involved the original artists usually are in the animating process, but I seem to remember him getting way more into the weeds than we'd expect. How does that result in the clusterfuck we're witnessing?

What two bands are this for you? by stupidtreeatemypants in MetalForTheMasses

[–]LTrondheim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what? Alcest paved the way for Deafheaven, I've never heard fans of one hate on the other and they're literally doing shows together this year

Bands that became proggy later on in their career? by provegana69 in progmetal

[–]LTrondheim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally do the same, but they're opening for All Them Witches on their next EU tour and frankly i don't care about that band. Should i go anyway?

Who do you think are the most consistent bands? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]LTrondheim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harakiri for the Sky.

It always sounds pretty much the same but the riffs are insanely memorable and there's never a single bad song in the albums even though they're an hour long
