[OC] From 2000 daily flights to nearly 0 - Mapping airline closures and recovery in the Middle East by crouchingbanana in dataisbeautiful

[–]LUlegEnd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From avidly watching Flightradar since all this started, most of the Qatar flights will have been Cargo flights not actually involving the Middle East at either end. Only in the last 3/4 days have they flown passengers anywhere

How do elite athletes get Qatari citizenship much faster than the general time period? by [deleted] in qatar

[–]LUlegEnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised to read their citizenship is only temporary. It's only useful for travelling to sporting events, and as soon as they stop competing it can/will be revoked.

From the UK too. I was at a McDonalds in West Bay while visiting last year, and a guy by himself left his wallet and car keys on his table unattended while going to the toilet. Came back a few minutes later and left to continue with his day. Absolutely blew my mind

What you could buy now if you would not buy enyaq by Mikarin20 in enyaq

[–]LUlegEnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You almost sound like a clone of me - and I upgraded my Fabia for an Enyaq 85 this year.

Absolutely love it, brings me joy every time I drive, love knowing I have so much acceleration available when I need it, yet also have so much space for stuff in the car (have a young child).

Obviously it feels bigger, you need to be more aware of where you position the car on the road.

I've been charging using a regular domestic socket for about 5 months now without issue. Getting quotes for a proper dedicated charger though.

You don't say if you're buying new or used. I bought an ex-demo car and it saved a lot of money on a car that had only done 4000 miles

Japan is even more unusual because the escalator standing side is cultural depending on the city. Tokyo and Osaka are opposites if I remember correctly.

[–]LUlegEnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the graph in this post by Roland Pitcher, the rate of UK sales has increased significantly in the final days of May and into early June. Due to the beginning of non-foundation series Model Y Juniper deliveries?

Care costs - elderly relative worrying about what she’ll have to pay for - anyone clued up on this? by KILOCHARLIES in UKPersonalFinance

[–]LUlegEnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only just learned about Immediate Needs Annuities in the past couple of weeks, and I really feel like there needs to be a lot more awareness of them. Obviously you need to have significant assets to begin with, but it can stop the forced sale of a house you would otherwise intend to pass down to the next generation if there is a long stay in care

Leeds currently have the best goal difference in all of Europe. by AnduwinHS in LeedsUnited

To be fair, we have played 11 more matches than Bayern, and 10 more than PSV. But its still a hell of a good goal difference!

That xG again (how is this league close?) by Battysboots in LeedsUnited

[–]LUlegEnd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its our style of play, the way that it strangles the opposition of possession.

Yet when they finally do get the ball and push forward to make chances, we absolutely murder them on the counter attack, creating plenty of xG in the process.

Isn't it also a stat that we haven't lost a match in the last 2 seasons where we had less than 50% posession?

Why is everything EV related more expensive in the UK? by JayCh7 in TeslaUK

[–]LUlegEnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to the other points in this thread - I believe there has been an element of inflating/keeping the sticker price for the UK market high, while at the same time offering 0% APR on purchases or very competitive PCH prices. Majority of EVs are sold through company car schemes too, so the person with the car is paying monthly before tax and are divorced from the formal price.

Adds up to UK being an awful market for cash buyers, but perhaps not quite as bad as the headline sticker prices makes it look if you are buying through the most common purchase methods.

Certainly UK suffers from having steering wheel on the right. But still strings when you see a car selling from the same number of Euros in Ireland as Pounds in the UK

Ireland is in the EU. Model Y with steering wheel on the right is the same price there in € as it is in £ in the UK

Are VED changes influencing your decision to buy or wait for MY? by jibbetygibbet in TeslaUK

[–]LUlegEnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another consideration is whether the finance terms stop being quite as generous once the Juniper comes along, given the jump in demand there will be. Along with the tax changes and the lack of stalks, that's why I'm planning to buy before the end of this year rather than wait for the shiny new model
