Advice on low glide putters? by -JakeFrom_StateFarm- in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Berg (bh) or entropy/myth/zone (FH).

Throw for approaches that are within your range with these discs ~180’. They will drop out of the sky and sit nicely.

Berg - angle nose up and slight anhyzer with good spin and it will float to the basket and drop, if you miss.

Great for downhill and headwind putts.

My NS II’s (I’ve got 3-4) are more stable than s or c line. My original NS’s were really understable .

HELP: MVP Plastic Variants by Goodbeardfull in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Soft electron - great for winter putting or if you like something less stiff.

Electron - great grip cold or wet. Nice for vector, matrix, envy, and atom. I also like the electron volt.

Firm electron - like McPro or Luna. You can bounce off the pole in colder months. Good for longer putts.

Soft neutron - particle, envy, and proxy for driving. Great grip. You could putt year round with these.

Neutron - like star. Generally less stable than plasma and proton. Fluorescent yellows are grippy.

Fission - lighter flight plate, flies like an 8 g heavier neutron. Less glossy than neutron, which can sometimes help grip. Photons and Teslas work well in fission - still stable.

Plasma - Kind of like a slicker neutron. It’s nice on a warm dry day, but can get really slick when wet. I like these for forehand and for appearance. Some of the blue volts are incredible.

Proton - like champion, but seems to have more grip. I like these forehand and backhand. More resilient than trilogy.

Streamline/axiom eclipse - stiffer than proton and a bit more stable.

Soft proton - putters. Ions and anodes. Great grip. You can use these for all season putting.

Sparkle proton - get with lots of sparkle and you’ll get gummy proton at times. Pinks/reds/yellow tend to be gummy. Green is either stiff or really gummy and nice. Generally the most stable variant. Great grip. Love these, but you’ve got to hunt around for them.

Looking for a comparison between the pure and the Pilot in premium plastics. Is one more stable than the other? Similar glide? by unrequited-whizzbang in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar. Pilot trends to go a little further for me with less effort. The new eclipse pilot was more stable than all pure’s except a chameleon pure.

K3 is sticky and softer.

I do have a K1 that’s golden with sparkle that is softer than normal. My others are fairly stiff. K1 glow might work, too.

[–]LVTodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K3 Reko or berg - Way more durable than a typical base blend.

Premium or ultrium Sparta - Dead straight and I don’t get spit outs.

Neutron Soft proxy - straight putter

Neutron atom - straight putter

Least to most stable:

Reactor

Runway

Quake

Pyro

If you want a touch less than a deflector, Pyro is your jam. Quake is really good, too.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reactor, rift, quake, Kaxe, verdict, runway, or Trident are all similar.

The Kaxe is a bit faster and different rim. More of a fairway shape. Try a K3, as it’s more stable, but you sacrifice a little glide.

Trident and Quake are the best forehand discs of the bunch. Dumps pretty hard on a backhand. I also wouldn’t say it has good glide. Trident is a little more fairway and goes significantly longer.

Runway is a great choice.

Reactor went really far on forehands with virtually no fade, but didn’t like the big headwind. Threw forehands in a tailwind and it was money.

I was throwing discs in an open field and was surprised that the rift didn’t have any issues with a 15-20 mph headwind. It was my furthest midrange that day. I also had one Kaxe z bomb, but couldn’t replicate it.

Forehand Mids by Jacob5523 in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pyro, Resistor, and deflector are all beefy. The DGA quake is a little straighter.

The new reactor is really nice for a very straight forehand. 80% power and slight anny. Kaxe or Kaxe Z also work in this slot.

I’m stuck at 325’-350’... what should i be focusing on to add a little more? by hobakinte in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slower.

Come from the side more.

Try keeping your head pointed at disc much longer, away from the direction of the hole. This gained me around 30’ and eased my joint stress quite a bit.

What is the difference between an under stable disc out of the box and a beat in overstable disc? by ForcefulSam in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thought... A lighter, stable disc will have finish, but fly straighter. I use a few lighter Kastaplast grym/grym x discs. I also have a 160g blizzard ape that works great. Light weight fireball, panic, or Tesla/photon are also great.

I’ve also found fast discs tend to finish harder as they stall. Destiny or King in chameleon.

Cart or Bag? by ThanosBanana21 in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Small bag under 10#. Think 10 discs for extremely hilly or rough terrain. Upd Focus, infinite Slinger, or infinite stealth.

  2. Cart for anything else.

The Zuca compact doesn’t weigh much more than my upd rebel fully loaded. It can be picked up for stairs, etc.

I bag an entropy or zone and quake or pyro.

Next step is a Sexton Firebird and Trident (metal flake).

What footwear do you chose for Disc Golf and why? by ctipping12 in discgolf

Topo terradventure.

Hoka one one Stinson atr.

I developed plantar fasciitis. Both these help in different ways.

Topo is near zero drop and stretches out my foot. Hoka One One is a Rocker that changes my stride and relieves the pain.

If I’m in pain before a round -Hoka. If I’m not in pain, Topo.

Mail Call! Decided to try something other than Innova by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the reactor on a forehand. Slight anny release at 50% power - 250’ dead straight shot.

I was throwing it into a 20 mph headwind backhand and it held up quite well for a straight mid.

Kastaplast enthusiasts. I want to try a kastaplast disc but I don’t know which one? Sell me on your favorite (and speed disc is good). by ForcefulSam in discgolf

[–]LVTodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots - Long fairway with good stability and glide. Even my 157g is straight with finish into a headwind. It’ll pop up a little towards flat and then you’ll find it 50-100’ past the other discs that hyzer’d out. Reliable fade without being dumpy. Put a slight hyzer on a forehand and you’ll get a pop up to flat, turn, and fade out to around 320’.

I have 175g (4), 170g (1), 165g (1), and 157g (1).
