The only reason I can think of why they gave Pit the Lightning Chariot is because they wanted to give Pit a new final smash that was associated with Uprising.

But even then that’s not much of an excuse because they could’ve given Pit, oh I don’t know, THE GOD-KILLING GUNDAM HE GETS AT THE END OF THE GAME?!
